Description
Nemar Jhan, Lord Warden of the Assembly of Five had agreed to a marriage alliance with the kingdom of Sewen. Unfortunately his future bride Teren Kelfin had not--Nemar Jhan being not of the faith and a Necromancer. (A legendary Necromancer-King with a terrifying reputation in Sewen and the other Dosai kingdoms. The alliance is...controversial.)·
Teren and her twin brother Caris exchange places, to cover her escape. Disguised as his sister, he attempts to assassinate the Lord Warden on their "wedding night." This goes badly for the following reasons:
1) Nemar Jhan is an immortal and cannot be killed. (Permanently)
2) You might have pulled one over on him in an unguarded moment but he's still more experienced than you. (By about a thousand or so years.)
3) He still intends to honor the terms and conditions of the marriage alliance. (Apparently as far as he's concerned, they just need to iron out if he's married to Caris, or Teren by proxy.)
As a result the royal twins' attempt at a major diplomatic incident does not go according to plan. (In any way, shape or form.)

- Ace-omiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a captivating fantasy fiction set in a rich and imaginative world, filled with unique magic and political systems. Our protagonist, Joris, is a charismatic and powerful character.
The dialogue is expertly crafted, giving the reader a sense of the dynamic between the characters and painting a vivid picture of their differing beliefs and values. The writing style is descriptive, immersive and full of sensory detail, drawing the reader deeper into the story and helping them to fully experience the world of the story.
As the plot progresses, we see a clear direction and purpose. The world building is immersive, and the description of the magical and political systems gives the reader a sense of the depth and complexity of the story's setting.
Overall, this fiction is a well-crafted, engaging and imaginative work of fantasy fiction that has the potential to captivate and entertain readers with its fascinating characters and rich world building. - HaroTharRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is a good time! Very lore heavy, with lots of fun worldbuilding/magic systems/political systems that take a forefront to the plot. The characters are all either likeable or fun to make fun of, with solid voices for all of the main cast and some curious background characters. I find it just a touch slow, plotwise, but that does not in any way impact the fact that it's an enjoyable read. More a tea by the window kinda story, if you get the vibe. I hope bad things happen to Caris <3
- That One Dragon WriterRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5What happens when you combine two distinct characters - one is young, religious, and impulsive with someone who is immortal, methodical, and observant? I'll tell you what - a delightful dynamic. This story is analytical and psychological, and it is a real treat to see these characters interact together!
Style Score: Sometimes for descriptions of history, surroundings, or actions, this gets a little dry and methodical. Character interactions, dialogue, and motivations are vibrant and very fun to read and the story shines most here!
Grammar score: There are shifting tenses, some minor flaws here and there - nothing that significantly inhibits reading or breaks immersion.
Story Score: The story is set up well and it flows well. I enjoyed reading it within the first few paragraphs. It is laid back with character dynamics driving the story. Which is great, because the characters are very well done. So far, the focus is on the psychological, and there is a feeling of change and authenticity that I love.
Character Score: POV changes are easy to track throughout the story. The characters feel vibrant and rounded out. They are a pleasure to watch interact!
