- greestRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good quality read so far. More detailed review once I have finished book one. Litrpg system is logical, consistent and pleasantly different from the generic.
Echoes of hunger games, but just that, only echoes, the story, characters, motivations and actions stand well in there own right. Plot seems well crafted making this a reasonably enthralling read, well it kept me up most of the night before an early start tommorow anyhow. :-) - MadMaxOniRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall this is an interesting environment. The characters are a little generic and sudden. We never heard of Johnny then all of a sudden he was her long-lost best friend. I like most of the world-building stuff so far, except early on Mai thinks of how INDENTURE was made because SLAVERY was illegal. But now the vat-born are introduced as a common-knowledge sub-race. The food-driven combat is novel but I think the access to BIO-BOOST is a little too readily available. She had to run the Capture the Flag mission for just one bottle, now everyone has some to sell or loot from Culls. The earlier supply drop had concentrated BioBoost that allowed Mai to go beyond 100% but later regular bottles did the same.
EDIT I feel like the characters fleshed out a lot in the these chapters. I'm glad to say I would keep reading if there was more. - 1Royal Road★★★★ 4.0Competent start to the story, although it leans a bit too heavily into dystopian tropes for my taste. System messages are formatted well and aren't too overused. The premise is admittedly very confusing, and seems to contradict itself in an attempt to get to the actual story as soon as possible. I'm pretty sure I won't be coming back to read more of this, but I did give it a shot, and it's decent enough of a story to do well here. Good luck!
- AgatzumagintokiRoyal Road★ 0.5First of i am at the start of book 2.
Basicly if u want a book with a flat hero/MC so plot amored that nothing can hurt her, while being stronger and better than everybody else for no reason. For example she doesnt have the skills to rival a professional killer (the gangsters should have by far better skills than her and by far more experience than her), jet she manages to kill a few dozends of them with no problem alone and also i just find it lazzy to say she can do whatever because of streetsmarts (u want to tell me this is her one thing which nb else has in a book about people living in slums just like her?)
Than this book is for u.
