- Alexanders (Katsu)Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0So first thing first, our MC of turn (Lilith) got reincarnated in a fantasy world setting as a nekomimi fox. She has them magic talents and lives with peasants of the worst kind...The ignorant ones.
Even after all this she is Happy!
She has a cool teacher grampa teacher (Wisp) that educates her using dreams and said teacher doesn't pull punches when teaching the good stuff (Like how to strangle your enemy by using their nerves. That application of magic I liked it.
Now, some may find that either disturbing or gross. But what can I say, me likes them magic well stablished with profound settings backing them, specially if said backing is science!
Style-wise and grammar-wise, there's nothing much I can complain about. The prose is easy to follow. And the descriptions are apt for the problem at hand.
Character-wise, I have no problems. Lilith interacts with the world and everyone acts as they should.
Bandits? They don't pull punches. Magical grampa teacher? He teaches the good stuff.
Friends of the same age? They do the things friend of the same age do.
I can see how she would earn the title of demon lord, wich and mad scientist, and am going to follow this series to see it come to fruition! - Authors DreadRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Imagine this: you're settling down with a cup of coffee, ready to dive into a new web novel. You click on "Lilith: Demon Lord, Witch, Mad Scientist, and Enemy of the State," and you're instantly drawn in.
First off, the style of this novel is unique. It's immersive and easy to picture what’s going on. You're there with Lilith, experiencing her thoughts and emotions. The pacing is just right, a nice blend of action, dialogue, and introspection. Sure, there are moments where you wish the author showed a bit more than told, but it's a minor hiccup in an otherwise smooth read.
The story itself is a great mix of fantasy, sci-fi, and horror. It's complex, layered, and keeps your mind engage. The world-building is detailed and imaginative, though it can be a bit much to take in at times, especial when it comes to the sophisticated science stuff. But hey, who doesn't like a bit of a challenge? Plus the author includes pictures to aid with visualization, which I think is a great touch.
Grammar-wise, it's pretty solid. Although, the sentence flow could be a bit smoother, and the punctuation could be more consistent, but overall, it's well-written.
Now, let's talk characters. Lilith, our protagonist, is a total badass. She's a demon lord, a witch, a mad scientist, and an enemy of the state, just as the title suggest. Plus, she's a cat-girl, which is a fun twist. She's strong, independent, and super smart. The supporting characters are just as interesting, especially Malena, Lilith's human companion. Their relationship is a highlight of the story, showing a deep bond and mutual respect.
One of the coolest parts of the story, for me at least is when Lilith has a vision and meets the goddess Haven. It's a unique concept that adds a divine element to the story. The description of this scene is so crisp, you could easily put yourself in Lilith’s shoe.
Here's a taste of it: "She looked around with her eyes closed and wobbled a bit in a dreamlike state. Instead of the church, she saw - Second LawRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story follows Lilith, a regular human girl who dies and gets Isekai's as a fox in a village of beastmen. That's a run-of-the-mill premise on RR, but nothing else that follows can be describe as anything but extraordinary as we explore this complex new world from the perspective of a young but talented protagonist, who also has a bit of help.
An element in the story that stands out to me is the excellent descriptive way in which use of magic described, particularly the focus on biology when it comes to both healing and offensive attacks.
Style Score : The author has a very neat style of writing and the story flows with an excellent prose which is pleasant to read and complements the story, neither too dry and toneless, nor too grandiose or flowery. The fact that the writing is immaculate in terms of grammar and spelling means that the reading flow is never interrupted, and the somewhat lengthy chapter end before you know it!
Story Score : So far, I've read three chapter, and the story gets better every time. The first chapter sets the premise, and while things might feel slow paced, enough things happen to keep one engrossed and we get to see Lilith's personality, the nature of beastmen and how they differ from humans, as well as regular (and some irregular) problems that a school going kid faces. We also get to see Wispy, an intriguing magical companion about whose exact origins I can't help but wonder. At the end of the first chapter, an event happens that sets the stage for the next books and as our MC goes on really enjoyable adventures, things start to pick up pace, and never stop!
Grammar Score : Immaculate, found no issues.
Character Score : So far, three characters have stood out, and all those have been developed really well. Lilith, our protagonist, is the one whose perspective we most often see, and through her thoughts and actions, a very likeable personality is painted. Often she behaves how you would reasonable expected a child too, and is not awa - hyleticRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The premise of Lilith is a familiar one: a human girl is reincarnated in a fantasy world as a fox-person. She is magically gifted, but that turns out to be troublesome as the beastmen villagers around her think poorly of magic. Her parents send her to enroll in a magic school.
The author does a good job with their characters, and the dialogue is both engaging and tells us more about every character. It's a joy to see the characters interact. The magic system in this world seems quite rigorous as well and the author is not afraid to delve into lengthy descriptions and explanations. While both of these things are quite interesting on their own, as another reviewer mentioned, blending the lighter, slice-of-life interactions with the slow methodical descriptions of injuries and bodies and how magic works makes for a somewhat odd pacing. While I think some parts could use some polish, I find myself quite eager to follow Lilith on her adventure.
Style-wise and grammar-wise, there's nothing much I can say. Aside from a few typos that could be fixed with an edit, I find most of the writing easy to follow. If I had to single one thing out, I would say that the fight scenes feel a little too robotic. A lot of it is just stating what is happening and there are a lot of run-on sentences for what is supposed to be a tense moment. These problems are easy to fix and I'm sure the writing is only going to get better.
Character-wise, so far, it's been quite enjoyable. Everyone that Lilith interacts with has their own personality that comes through quite strongly and it makes you care for every one of them. Her childlike nature is a breath of fresh air, as it makes you wonder how she's going to grow to become the 'Demon Lord'. Wispy works well as a mentor character, and it's interesting to see how his more blunt and direct way of teaching influences Lilith and her worldview. It is clear that Wispy has their own personality as well and that bleeds into the way they teach Lilith.
My mai - Momoharu-TaroRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"Lilith" is one of those stories that read and you go. "Hey this is pretty good, I like these concepts" that starts to find its footings and stars to gain its momentum to be a even better story. I was only going to review around chapter ls 3-4 but I really wanted to keep reading!
I'm a big character guy, if the characters in the story don't hook me either immediately or within a three chapter time frame. I drop it.
lilith as of now where I am, is a young beast folk child who needs to go to a magic school. She has this otherworldly being named Wispy that appears in her dreams and teaches her all kinds of things.
it's a mystery what wispy is and why he is doing this but this is probably one of the best concepts the author simleek came up with. You have this young character learning everyday in her dreams and then using that knowledge in the real world parts of the story.
Every wispy scene is integral to what happens next and feels earned like "wow she could do this because Wispy had four paragraphs of amazing dialogue explaining everything step by step."
My only issue is that, other then the rival girl and one of the other characters, the support cast to me so far isn't that strong. One major gripe I have is that the human Sebastian, a character who for 3-5 chapters has helped and been there for Lilith, is just gone.( of course the next chapter could explain why so it's not to much of a big deal)
He, along with Wispy, are great support characters that truly help the MC shine while she is still inexperienced and young. I really liked the dude lol. Especially in chapter 13 I wouldn't spoil much but it definitely felt like he needed to be there in the court room. There wasn't even a chapter or a paragraph of them saying goodbye to each other, so I personally believe that Sebastian is still in the town with her.
Worldbuilding to me is at the bottom of what I really care about but the location, lore we have and the magic school it self facilitate the story well. The autho - Rookie12Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This review is based on the first twelve chapters that were available at the time.
Before you, we have a story about how a human from our world got killed, ended up being reborn in the fantasy world as a beastkin, and now must start her life from a blank slate, with her friend from the other world guiding and helping her.
The story itself is focused on introducing us to the characters, building various hooks and plots that will play a large role in the future, and on the adventure itself. After living a sheltered life due to being a beastkin, Lilith is now leaving for the big world and is eager to learn everything she can! That and kill the baddies if they try to kill her.
Style and action. A bit too rushed at times, often giving us the barest description of the characters. At the same time, it is more than enough to create a picture in one's head because most characters play a serious role in the story and rarely drop out of it.
Action. Done simply superbly. Not a single word is wasted; everything is presented very clearly, and when a character gets wounded, it does play a bigger role in the story, either introducing us to a part of the world or hindering the character for a while. Four and a half stars from me here.
Story and worldbuilding. Perfectly done. At first, when we were introduced to the beastkins, it looked as if the story would be a regular "humans are racists" type of story, but nope. There are jerks among humans, sure, but most of the population views beastkins as another curiousity but not something to burn alive or destroy, which creates an interesting mix. Both sides have their own superstitions, which help make the world more alive.
The magical academy feels like a real place of study, one that nurtures its students in all spheres of life, preparing gifted specialists who will work for the betterment of the nation. Solid five stars for subverting expectations and making the world actually a nice place that you care about.
Grammar. I am a non-nativ - MadMidRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5At first I was a bit confused, the dreams part took me a bit off - and I am still not quite sure where they completely fit. That being said, mid chapter one when the story takes off, I was hooked and couldn't stop reading. The chapters are quite long but easy to read and easy to keep going, don't let the lenght scare you, you will go through without realizing, and you'll want more.
By chapter 2, and when the travel begins you are introduce more on how Lilith magic works, then by chapter 3 it ramps up REALLY quick! The thief attack was great, I was on the edge the whole time. And suddenly Lilith gets a better hold on her magic. I do love the fact that the magic is explained in a more deep way as well. You understand WHY she can do what she does, and how she turns her magic into something else and think outside the box. I m now finishing Chapter 4, and the story is taking quite a different turn, evolving. And it's a pleasant surprise too and keeps you hooked. This is definelty something I ll keep reading. I want to see where it goes.
My only - small - feedback would be on the style mainly, sometimes the use of really long sentences to describe something is a bit difficult to follow - especially for me not a native english speaker -. And the use of similar word close to each other, feels sometimes repetitive.
But that is not too important as the characters and the world are really well defined and you do care for Lilith, from the moment she leaves, you are with her and feel for her. - luda305Royal Road★★★★ 3.5A few key points:
One, the protagonist is both very bubbly and immature, and only slightly evil. This doesn't seem to be a phase either, so it's a tone you'll really need to want. I strongly prefer the alt-POVs for this reason.
Two, the reincarnated memories are fairly low impact on the story. This is primarily a story about the natives.
Three, it is pretty slow paced. The stuff in synopsis is only just now getting there. A lot of the early stuff is more positive.
Four, I'm not at all sure where this story is going. The foreshadowing is not great.
