A powerful cultivation journey starts with clean fur and impeccable toe-beans.Jenkins might already be the most beautifulcat that ever graced the land, but he is going to make the most of each and every one of his nine lives.
Nothing will hold him back, not pesky pixies, not mean toads, not water, not darkness, and definitely not demonic rats. He will meditate in sunbeams and inhale the cleansing cat-nip. His breath will scour the flesh from all who displease him. He will be the best at all things. Except, perhaps, at flying. For now.
This is the tale of Jenkins Greenleaf: his lives, his deaths, and all the things that happened beyond.
If you need more philosophical spirit beasts in your life, this is the one for you.
It's a slow burn, slice-of-life cultivation. I wrote this one to be cosy. I tried my best, not sure I succeeded. Let me know! Redwall x Lovecraft x Beware of Chicken if the people were the pets

- Goddessa39Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Very cute sounding story with ideas of cultivation and different animals talking to each other. Jenkins is a normal, fun name while other animals have some less normal names; And the rats are a group of bad juju peeps who the cats are learning to hunt en masse. This is one of those stories that is fun to read/hear without getting over dusted with information.

Gripped me from the first sentence. The cadence, the captivating prose and the author has a very unique ability to especially bring mundane aspects like the moonlight, the sun and especially animals and nature in general to life.
The characters from, main to side have great depth and its very easy to connect to them. The author manages to convey their desires and behaviors to life which makes it easy to understand them. At no point do they feel like plastic predictable tools to further the story.
The main character especially, feels very organic and almost always embodies what a cat would think and act perfectly.
In terms of the power system, once again I find it perfect. Very balanced and I don't struggle to understand it as its explained well and not all at once like an info dump. So those new to the cultivation genre shouldn't struggle at all to understand it.
But what I really like about this story is originally I picked this up as a bit of a palete clenser due to it being a slice of life. Just something to read as I looked for the next web novel, a bit like watching a sitcom in between a new sci fi series. So imagine my genuine surprise that this story could still grip me and have me emotionally invested from start to finish. There is still jeopardy and I feel the danger and the strife that the main character experiences which makes the moments in between all the more richer and/or deeper. The balance is exquisite.
Couldn't put it down from start to the latest chapter. I will be following with bated breath and I aspire to get to this level one day. - LinclerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Absolutly awesome. Great POV and you can feel the heart and soul this story got written into. I just read the chapters when I got enough time to think about it.
One of my alltime favorite author on her absolut best. It meshes even well with Litches Get Stitches and shows some wonderful insights and gives so much more feelings for both storys, let them become more alive.
Perfection - LoveThaTimeAmericanReincarnatdRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It is a wonderful book about cultivation and cats/animals, the start is super sad then really funny and continues to be hilarious at times while also filling it with action and advancement. A really good story. Though I am only on chapter twenty so I am not far enough to know why litches get scritches (litches I believe is the plural form of pitch which is an undead necromancer, while scritches can either be scratches but with an i so it rhymes or scritchs which means to scratch an animal (cat) somewhere they can’t reach like behind the neck, which they really like)
- TSnorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A good light, fast paced feel good read. Characters are fun. World building is complete enough without being tedious. Magic is intuitive. A coming of age story for a cat. Highly recommended.

In keeping with the 50 word minimum, I'll add some unnecessary words about the author's ability to write - they do fine. Grammar is flawless. Sentences flow. No jarring subject verb mismatch, etc. Nice job. - breadbocksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a western cultivation novel played straight as can be, so far, barring the detail of the main character being, ya know, a cat. It's nothing genre defining or deeply thought provoking (yet) but it's enjoyable casual read.
The text style is eminently accessible. There's a lot of attention to detail to describing things in the protagonist's world view, which can be a little childish as befits the point-of-view of a character who isn't even a year old yet. Minor deduction for a character's name having non-English symbols; while I can appreciate the author wanting to branch out to middle/old English theming, it's just as out of place to have "Moððe" in a modern English novel as it would be to have someone named 殷.
The grammar and editing is stock standard for Royal Road. There's an occasional typo or stray punctuation mark, but nothing distracting and the author seems to be on top of editing in corrections from comments.
Story-wise, things are currently a bit of a question mark. At the time of writing, the first long-term goal/obstacle has just been set up and conflict should start escalating and presumably in the near future it will overlap with the author's book series (Liches Get Stitches) given the current villain's set-up. Having not actually read that series, I can't say that for certain.
The character writing is the big winner here. Jenkins is obviously a charmer; the author's love of cats and all their foibles comes through loud and clear. Mama cat is a treat, the nature spirits are wonderfully evocative (I love the stars especially), the mean girl toads hit just the right note, the list goes on. Big ups to the author, there's no one in the cast that makes me want to skim past their interactions.
Overall - I'm a fan, it's very much something I'll keep reading for the foreseeable future, and I'm going to pick up the author's published series that ties in. - ehammoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I went to this story blind, as i had not read the 'main' story that generated this spinoff (But now I kinda have to sign up on KU again just for this)
I was delightfully surprised at each step of the way.
There are several cute moments, funny moments and xianxia-like moments to keep us all very intrigued.
I'm really loving all the characters and I hope our MC and Maud can start being able to properly communicate soon - emphesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Litches get Scritches is a delightful tale that effortlessly blends whimsy and warmth with a hint of woe. The story follows a naturally self-confident cat that finds their place in a world where animals can cultivate. The prose is lyrical and rich, with a rhythm that practically begs to be read aloud. The author's choice of words paints vivid, charming imagery, making the narrative feel alive with texture and sound. There's a musicality to the sentences, a gentle flow that wraps the reader in a sense of calm and wonder.
Despite the title, at the time of this review the cat in question is in fact, still alive. - slowpokeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0If you liked Liches Get Stitches, then chances are you will like this too. It's a side story that follows Jenkins, starting a little before the events of Liches book 1. And with all the foreshadowing, I'm pretty sure it's going to be totally concurrent with actual events of that book as well, and I'm super excited to see how it all shakes out. (especially considering sooooo many animals died and how Maud severely affects the forest) Unlike Liches though, the magic system here is all cultivation, which honestly is super cute and reminds me of stuff like Beware of Chicken and the third Kungfu Panda movie lmao. But also can we just take a moment to appreciate how much sense it makes for animals to be cultivators? I love that as an explanation for why some animals are "awake" and others not. And the characters are just super great too, as always with a Hesketh story. Shout out to the mean toad girlies, I hope they become actual friends later ;-; ALSOOOO let's not forget the spirits either! One of the coolest things about Liches was how connected it was to its gods, spirits, and outside realms, like fairy. And while we did get to spend a bunch of time in the fae realm, the real *scope* of these invisible magical entities in Liches was never fully explored. But in Scritches? It feels like we're getting that, and I'm so ready for more. 👀
- tildeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Cozy with stakes! All the characters have personality and I care for them all, even the mean toad girls. I have not read any of the author's other works, but they are now on my to-read list. Moves at a good pace so far with a good amount of cat fanservice thrown in (the adorable kind not the icky kind).
