This does not really come across as a prologue and while it works as a short story, it only barely has a conclusion that matters. The focus here is on Li and the duties, though some of the descriptions are a bit lacking and I question the use of 'pressure hose' for the dishes (maybe it is a regional difference?). The conflict is simple and rather dramatic, all the characters behave like teenagers. The ending makes sense, but it feels like a concluding scene more than of a conclusion to a short story to me.
