It starts with a final goodbye and a wish to reach out. He probably won't receive a single letter, ever, and she knows - but sometimes giving up on something futile means losing a part of herself. A part she never wants to give up.

she has no real freedom or agency, and uses the letters as a way to influence and ask favours of those who keep her captive.
My heart reaches out to her reading the letters, and I can't help but hope for the day when she flies free.
