Description

Felix Chandler, a reclusive misanthrope and obsessive hoarder, finds himself unexpectedly transported to another universe after a tower of his own "collectibles" - okay, let’s call it what it is, garbage - collapses on him.

Bureaucracy, technicalities, negotiations, and a dash of petty larceny ensue, culminating in Felix acquiring the ultimate ability every hoarder dreams of: Inventory.

The problem? Well, Felix has also managed to get himself cursed by an angry god/bureaucrat. Oh, and he’s been transported to a fantasy world that's hell-bent on ending his existence. This includes an Abbot/Religious Zealot leading a group of militant evangelizing ascetic monks. And, despite all recommendations to the contrary, Felix chose only inventory-related skills...

To survive, Felix must rely on his ingenuity, devious cunning, and a whole lot of dumb luck. He may even be forced into his ultimate challenge: making friends...

Author'sNote:

This is an absurdist blend of sci-fi, fantasy, litRPG, satire, and social commentary. It's also my first post ever on this site. I hope you enjoy it!

Update Frequency: In terms of frequency of posting, I'll try to post one chapter a week on or before each Wednesday, so please periodically check back in!

Quick clarification on AI usage: This story says its AI-assisted. Honestly, almost none of this is directly or indirectly generated or edited by AI. I did, however, constantly copy paste it into an AI chat for general feedback - mostly to have it validate my otherwise meaningless existence with shallow praise... Since I did end up using one or two of its suggestions (especially for the synopsis) I clicked the box. Just wanted to share that tidbit. Oh, also the draft cover is AI generated. Sorry about that. I'll eventually hire an artist to do a proper one, I promise.

So, this is a review swap, and my immediate thoughts are as follows:
The story’s pretty neat. The premise is straightforward and opens room for a lot to follow. I enjoy this story a lot more than other Isekai works, and there’s something about it that gives it a familiar, nostalgic charm for me.
Style: There are times in this story where it follows the standard “RPG mechanics in my fantasy world” trope, and I think I like the way this story does it. The font distinguishes the parts where it’s us/Felix reading some game description of abilities, stats and items, and is generally consistent when it comes to these sorts of things.
Everything else is your standard story fair. Paragraphs are the right/average size, and it all flows pretty nicely.
Story: It’s very straightforward if you understand titles. “Legend of the Inventory Hero” is, quite literally, the story of a hero whose specialty is inventory. There’s a quick pace to the story, and it jumps into the plot and mechanics pretty fast. Pacing’s pretty nice for this story.
Though, I will say that there is room for improvement. I personally think you should give this story a shot through its Chapter 4 to hook you in, as that’s where the meat and potatoes of this story is served.
Grammar: Straightforward. No grammar issues. Nothing too bad that I noticed, it’s pretty solid and standard.
Characters: Well, the only characters I’ve seen so far (that matter) are Felix, a deity, and (partially) the entire inventory system. These are the standout characters that matter. Story does an okay job at setting up Felix in the first chapter, his interactions with the deity are pretty engaging, and the system itself has quite a lot of flavor to it.
Every character beyond these may be a little simple, but they have their defined place in this story, and I think there’s something to look forward to with them. It may be fun seeing how they develop past this point.
Yeah. Overall, pretty neat story, solid 4.5 material.
