- Akhil SihraRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Amzing story. Two of the few webnovels I liked and finished, were written by you Mr. Author. I personally think the epilogue could have been better, but still an amazing read.
- ThousandOdysseysRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Was just going through my saved novels, and realised that I never left a review for this.
Lament was one of the fist stories that I ever read on RR. I believe I may have found it via the Surprise Me search function that they have.
I do remember lamenting (😉) after reading it that I might have lost the ability to appreciate any other story written on this website again, as the bar had been set too high.
Trigger Warning for the first chunk of the story. It has quite the traumatic beginning. But once you’re past that, it never gets quite so bad again.
It has been a few years since I’ve reread it, so I’ll refrain from doing an in-depth analysis right now.
That said;
Put a finger up if you want to read about a strong female lead.
Put a finger up if you love reading epics.
Put a finger up if you enjoy political shenanigans, but don’t want to spend the entire time reading about politicians.
Put a finger up if you love self identity quests.
Put a finger up for queer representation. (Most importantly, lesbian representation that doesn’t read as male gaze oriented/written as a political statement)
Now what are you waiting for, use one of those fingers to scroll back up and click on the start reading button!! - ValaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.05 stars why?
It suits my taste, if you like an OP character who worked there way to the top, is violent yet loyal to friends and family, a multitude of worlds and other OP people, a logical and rewarding storyline, the focus in which is the main character (no random tangents) and a strong female lead with no interest in guys. Then this maybe the story for you 💕 - nik.costa.zaneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I got introduced to Royalroad with the authors previous story and ive been reading this one since chapter one. Its honestly one of the highlights of my week when the new chapter comes out.
- osiccorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Giving a 5 star for the returning author whose previous story i gave a 5 star to. please keep up the good work.
- TacticalPony671Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I am very much enjoying this story and hope the author continues for a long time to come.
My overall score would be around 4.3, as this story is more than just a sum of its parts.
The style of the author starts off leaning too heavily into expositions about the way that things work, a necessary evil of world-building. Conversations and ideas are sometimes redundant, though not often enough for it to irk most readers. The author uses rather nice and smooth transitions between scenes that do not really detract from the story, though could be improved upon by adding either more memorable events or some form of consistency or pattern to chapter endings (though this is not necessary it would improve the reading).
The grammar is understandably not the best, this is not an edited nor heavily proofread work. There are instances of awkward phrasing/wording, typos, and mixed syntax, though none of it really destroys the word flow, some of them do cause a few stumbles.
The story is not unique, but it takes what has been used before, twists the perspectives, and shoves the reader into an epically messed up situation in which they watch a young girl struggle to come to terms with a world that pretty much doesn't give two shits about her well being. While not completely original, it is executed most excellently. The only way it could be improved would be by expanding on the suffering the main character experiences. The reader is very disconnected from the experiences that the main character goes through in it's darker elements. This should definitely be added onto. The readers need to feel that pain so that they can all the more marvel at the main character's ability to just shrug it off.
Character building is fairly well done. Character diversity is also fairly well spread. Side character/race descriptions might be a bit lacking, but this can be fixed at a later date and isn't really all that important unless the author would like to go further into world-building.
Again, this s - Lord MandragonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5this book is one of the best that i've read in a very long time. i read books in a specific genre and this book not only is in that catogory but raises the bar exponentially higher. the grammar could use a bit of work, but that's fine usually. I'm revering this on 6/13/2017. the day chpt. 79 came out. she does not get into many fights that she would clearly lose then win easly. her potential on the other hand could turn 2 new york cities and the population into a fine powder. all in all, i'd recomend this book to any one who is into a badass MC who is is mildly overpowered but doesnt abuse that power.
love to the author. wish i could give you some money - BlazingSeraphRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Let it be known that I love OP MC stories.
Style: As with this author's other story, I don't particularily enjoy the style. There's too much telling, not enough showing.
Story: The story is very fun to follow, and the world building is pretty awesome. Also, fuck angels.
Grammar: I didn't notice any discrepancies.
Character: I actually really like the characters, but as I thought, it's harder to get into the MC when she's an anthromorphic person most of the time. I wish she liked her angel form more, but I also understand why she hates it. The other characters are also fun to read. - One ArmyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0could you make a charackter and skill description list
- JanxiusRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Binging this whole thing was a real task. The story is nicely established from the start, the characters are decent, I wish we could've gotten more stories from their pasts but oh well. Our MC does become extremely overpowered to the point that most conflicts become more about the political intricacies and strategies, but if you like that stuff it's interesting. One major thing that kept me reading was just to see how other characters react to our characters "Fuck Off" attitude to anything or anyone in her way. The climax was indeed incredibly satisfying, seeing the fruits of all her connections and training used in the final stand. One thing I really disliked was the massive amounts of info being dropped in every chapter, but it was necessary for the most part.
