NOTICE:
KIZUNA HAS BEEN REMOVED FOR USE IN BOOK TWO OF THE KIZUNA STORY. Thanks for reading!
KIZUNA HISTORIES is a generation-spanning roadmap that transports us to the point when Enoch - a 28th-century space waste transport engineer - gets caught up in a whole whirly-gig of aliens, pirates, evil empires, and snarky AIs inKizuna: Or How to Lose a Spaceship and Still Go Places. (Free to read on KU.)
How would the world change if we received a message from aliens, only to be ghosted by them afterwards?
What if those aliens were actually stuck in stasis somewhere in the interstellar boondocks and didn't know they were off course and transmitting a distress message to a group of quasi-sentient apes 50 light years away?
This story tells the future history of Earth, interspersed with updates of the sleeping alien crew, leading up to the moment when they awake and see the chaos their accidental transmission set off.

I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys science fiction! ♥ - NGrayRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's cool how the story has legit science but also a style that doesn't take itself too seriously. The footnotes are a good example of both. I really like the other book he wrote that takes place in the same universe. He's only done 11 chapters of this book so far but it's a similar style. Looking forward to the rest of "Histories".
- WhiteRose-BlueSpaceRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Series in this style are not very common on RR but I am very glad that this managed to get on here! Overall, this series heavily reminds of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy” (with the series including several references to it and even a direct citation), but combined with more serious modern Sci-Fi. I just absolutely love it personally and it’s exactly what I’ve needed lately. But onto the categories!
Style:
The prose in this is wonderful with all sorts of moments carried by the wordplay used in describing them. It’s a delight to read and it really helps with the story overall, helping to deliver moments of comedy and sadness.
Grammar:
I see no issues at all so there isn’t much to comment on. Everything reads nicely and works well because of it and there are no issues to draw you out.
Story:
As I’ve said, I don’t think I’ve seen a story quite like this on royal road and I’m all for it. It’s a rather interesting look at humanity though hundreds of years of the aftershock of realising aliens exist and they can speak! With all the predictably confused and violent reactions that you could expect from such a situation. It also deals with the time skips quite nicely.
Characters:
I would say this is the lowest part of the series. Though this is partly due to the issues of switching between characters so quickly due to the concept of the series. Though the characters are well made in the few scenes that you see of them.
Overall, I’d say every Sci-Fi fan should have a look at this series for sure!
