Description

A fantasy tale with adventure, humor and loyalty as a family and the young nation they lead refuse to give up in the face of a challenge that could destroy their kingdom.

The first five chapters are still available here, and Books 1 and 2 are now available on Amazon.

Twenty years ago, in his hour of greatest need, the great orc warrior King Jend met the beautiful Aida, an elven sorceress who would become his queen.  Together the couple freed their land from tyranny and built a strong, prosperous kingdom, where their loyal creatures of all types (mostly) get along.

Now they are now dealing with the increasing independence of their teenage daughters, Wyndy and Myla – powerful sorceresses in their own right, with certain opinions on how the kingdom should be run.

As the story opens, the princesses are setting off on their giant wolves with their guard force of orcs, goblins, and buggebears.  They are on a simple mission of delivering party invitations. But the mission is interrupted by Count Rassler, a young human noble from the neighboring kingdom. He is fleeing a ruler that seeks to imprison and probably kill him.  Human knights and their soldiers are in hot pursuit of Rassler and threaten all of their kingdom if they aren't stopped.

The royal family must use their wits and rally their nation to protect their land against the human incursion.

Style: The writing style, mainly in the dialogues, really reminded me of British theatre, especially the humour.
At times, the story can feel a bit dense due to the intricate and vivid world it presents. In my view, the points of view and descriptions could be streamlined to enhance readability.
Besides that, the style is light-hearted and fun, and you'll enjoy reading.
Grammar: I have no complaints, except that sometimes sentences were hard to follow, but that was minor. And maybe a product of my non-native English.
Story: Colourful, exciting, fantastic and chaotic comes to mind when I think about the story. And those are all compliments. You're immersed in a world full of fantasy, vibrant characters and rich bestiary (if you can call it that cause they're all sentient). Honestly, I could picture it as a story you could read to your children, and you could have an excellent time doing so.
Characters: The characters are not just funny and witty, they are also incredibly diverse. From the big-bellied king and his commanding wife to the affectionate wolf, each character brings a unique perspective to the story and are easy to care for. Their interactions can be very funny.
With more proofreading and work on some parts, King Jend’s Loyal Creatures has the potential to become a classic fantasy story.
It's a journey filled with whimsy and potential, and if you're a fan of fun Monty Python-type stories, this is the perfect read for you.

King Jend's Loyal Creatures really delighted me in more ways than one. What may appear to be a simple comedy to the inattentive reader at first glance is in fact a very profound, knowledgeable and subtly but deeply intellectual work – that can still make you laugh heartily on all levels of understanding.
The story playfully combines humor, historical depth and very creative worldbuilding, and deals with very human (and non-human!) concerns and worries, such as family dynamics, corruption and culture clashes, in an approachable and comprehensible way, with a light tone and a sense of bright seriousness.
As a medieval historian, I was naturally hooked as soon as I saw the “translator's” footnotes and annotations! A wonderful stylistic device that contributes a lot to the humor and, while cleverly providing word building, opens up an amusing meta-textual level.
The subtle puns and allusions, such as The Meditation Against Laughing at Men (Too Often), are simply wonderful and make the complex dynamics that make up the story approachable in the first place.
You can tell that, despite all the humor, more practical topics such as trade and border security have been well thought through. Makes a historian's heart beats faster!
My favorite character was maybe Fluffy, whose oblivious behavior towards the female wolves and his misinterpreting of social cues was not only hilarious, but also all too relatable – who doesn't know a Fluffy?
If there is anything to criticize at all, it may be that the allusive style is so dense that I get the feeling I might be missing the best hidden jokes – some of it will certainly go over some heads!
In any case, I'm very excited to see how it continues and look forward to many more entertaining hours of reading!

Your novel has a ton of potential—it's rich, imaginative, and feels like it’s set in a world that’s both complex and alive. The mix of magic, technology, and various creature cultures is fascinating. I love how you’ve created this layered society with distinct rules, politics, and relationships between different species. It feels like a place where anything could happen, which keeps the reader engaged.
The characters are definitely a strong point. The princesses, for example, are memorable. Wyndyn is commanding and intimidating, while Myla adds a bit of warmth and humor, which balances the dynamic nicely. Even smaller characters like Mirko and Garaxas leave an impression. And let’s not forget Shadow—the giant wolf who plays with kids? Adorable. These little touches give the world personality and make it feel like more than just a backdrop for the plot.
Another thing that stands out is your world-building. It’s detailed and immersive—Grendom, with its mix of stone houses and tree-based architecture, feels like a real place.
This is shaping up to be an exciting, multi-layered fantasy adventure with strong characters, a unique world, and plenty of action and drama. With a bit of tightening and some extra focus on clarifying motivations and stakes, it could easily become the kind of story readers don’t want to put down. Keep going—this is a world worth exploring! 😊

Great story so far! Half way through the book! I’ll update this when I’m done. Beautifully crafted, great humor and tongue-in-cheek and gorgeous imagery. Well done! Well done!
I'm loving our characters, not just the elves and humans, but our critter friends, the orcs, goblins, dragons! But especially our wolf friends! Fluffy is the best, he deserves some loving.

Style: A very different story. A dynamic reading style showing different points of view. I would separate the locations that are being narrated in the third person. With stock is an inspired person who strives to deliver the best entertainment for those who are tired of human super protagonists.
Story: The story is captivating and fun. It makes you want to keep reading. Not all humans are bad, what we have are monsters wanting to live peacefully, the first 10 chapters of what I read is a great humorous story with constant conflicts happening. I will definitely read it
Characters: There are a lot of characters. If you have attention problems, I recommend writing them in a paper. Anyway, they are all well-built, maybe because it's at the beginning of the chapter I wanted to see more of King Jend. He seems like a cool guy with a lot of wisd
Grammar: Grammar is impeccable the author hardly makes any mistakes and even if he does the story is so good that I would simply ignore it. The author writes professionally like great writers. I wonder if he had a brilliant editor behind him?
Overall, it's a story that I would read until the end. I'm not a professional in analysis, but I liked the book. And whoever reads this review will probably like it too.

Friendship and nature are indeed magical, and can bring things to vivid life you would not think.  The story is about King Jend's creatures, sure, but is that what a 'creature' is? Do they belong to anyone, really? Who is the monster here, and is it anybody?
Well yes, yes it is.  Fair warning: cat (demons), sidhe dubh if there ever was.  Yeah a certain mouse-led company unfairly lays a lot of heavy on cats who are just being cats, but that's not these guys.  They actually are the baddies.
The style of the story is semi-epistolary, semi-picaresque.  As if extreme-sport scholars had gone out of their dang minds and instead of staying in the library where it's cozy, clean, well-lit, and warm and there's books, nevertheless decided to be natural philosophers and go look themselves.   They looked everywhere.  Don't skip the footnotes! (Of a course: there's footnotes.)
The story is a fun romp through the idea of what it means to be a new kingdom that believes in freedom and people more than they believe in 'being king' or 'a country'.  It acknowledges that there's nothing so queer as folk all along the way.  The author has openly humorous and also understated humor that you have to think about.  There's bricks thrown so keep your nets ready. Don't worry, you will find out!  So far, there hasn't been any poop-jokes, aww.
I'm pretty picky about grammar my brain does that to me.  There were hardly any mistakes and the author quickly and good-naturedly fixes the very minor ones that were left to be found.  It reads smoothly and professionally.
Every single character is interesting in their own way and each and every one even the side characters, have their own motivations.  Part of this is the semi-academic way in which it is written, like some travelogue by Ibn Batuta.  They want to cover everything, and they want you to know!  The characters kind of take over the story sometimes, so it's kind of spoilery to explain why and how.
Let's just say that the gods are very real.

This fiction is what you'd get if they had let Terry Pratchett be the head writer for a season of Game of Thrones.  Or better, if Martin went crazy and let somebody like Pratchett finally finish the series.
It is not exactly a cozy story, but is overall a positive, good feels story.  It has some very serious parts and high stakes for a comedy.    The  big battle scene, for example, was  serious and kept me on the edge of my seat.
The writing is clear and the story well-paced.  Not flowery or literary, but straight to the point.
Story:  Very creative, not predictable, weird (in a good way).    I can't remember another story where the cultists were the good guys and fun.  Some unexpected plot twists.
Style: Also very creative.  I liked the translators notes. The dialogue is good and seems real.  I think it shows how half orc sorcerer teenagers would  talk.
Character:  Many great characters.  All life-like and realistic.  (As realistic as an intelligent giant wolf can be, I guess.)  No standard characters.  All had consistent back-stories.
Grammar: A few typos and phrases that seemed off, although that may be part of the style.  Nothing that took away from the story.

Man, I don't even know where to start with this review (in a good way!). King Jend's Loyal Creatures looks like it's going to be one hell of a story. If you like comedy and high fantasy, this is a must read in my opinion.
Story: Immediately you'll realize that this story has a lot in common with epic high fantasy. You've got multiple intelligent races, conflict between factions, and strategic warfare going on, and that's just in the first nine chapters!
Style: Two things I thought were done exceptionally well were the translator notes to give the reader additional information and the varying viewpoints. There are a lot of moving parts in this story, and the author does an excellent job of hopping around between them to ensure we have the full picture in mind. I think my favorite viewpoint was the brief snapshot we got of the giant wolves (though I won't spoil any of their dialogue).
Grammar: Nothing to report here except positives, very well written and easy to understand.
Character: I feel like I could write an essay just for this portion of the review alone, so I'll I'm going to say the characters are fantastic. King Jend and The Sky Father were my personal two favorites (particularly The Sky Father trying to give King Rend fatherly advice), but each character seemed unique in their own way, which is no easy feat with such a large cast.
All in all, the story promises exactly what's on the tags. If you want comedy, multiple lead characters, and high fantasy, the author absolutely delivers, and I'd recommend taking a look!

Far and above anything else I noticed in this story was the very real dialogue and feelings between the characters. This was followed closely by the bang of world building we got right out of the gate with the translation bits, and the number of races involved. In the first chapter alone the author describes everything from an Orc race to a Bat race!
There are quite a number of perspectives, so if you enjoy multiple characters and seeing things from their perspectives, you will like this story!
    Style and Grammar
The style is simple, yet full of prose and description. I can clearly see the action, and what the characters are doing, while at the same time getting a good sense of their emotional attitudes. Grammar and prose were good. There were some minor mistakes but it was totally forgivable by the flow of the story itself.
    Story and Character
The story, world building, and characters are the stars here. Between tomes, gods, historical events, and everything in between, the world is set up to become lost in! There are a ton of characters as well and I am excited to keep reading about their lives and where they are headed.

King Jend’s Loyal Creatures is a masterful tale that blends epic fantasy, political intrigue, and mythic beasts into a narrative that is both sweeping and deeply personal. At its core is King Jend, a formidable orc warlord who rose from the ashes of tribal warfare to unite his fractured people. His marriage to Queen Aida, a wise and powerful elven sorceress, creates a fragile alliance between two historically opposed races. Their union is a bold and controversial symbol of hope, challenging centuries of hatred, mistrust, and bigotry between orcs and elves. Yet, their dream of unity is constantly tested by prejudice, betrayal, and external forces bent on their failure.
What sets this story apart is the author’s skillful integration of Loyal Creatures, ancient and mystical beings bound to their masters through tenuous bonds of will, respect, and sacrifice. These creatures act as reflections of their masters’ souls and struggles, emphasizing themes of harmony between disparate beings. Among them is Duke Klojo Nohara, a regal and ancient dragon whose fiery wisdom contrasts with mortal folly. Klojo’s alliance with Jend challenges expectations, proving that strength and nobility transcend race and species.
Equally compelling is Nicodo, the Knight of the Realm, a sentient tree clad in mossy armor and rooted in the ideals of chivalry and justice. Nicodo’s presence is both a reminder of old wars fueled by hatred and a beacon of the peace that can exist when loyalty replaces prejudice.
The story tackles themes of anti-racism and bigotry with depth and nuance, showing how unity can only be forged through understanding and sacrifice. These themes are woven seamlessly into a richly crafted world, alive with culture, myth, and political strife.
For readers who love intricate worldbuilding, morally complex characters, and stories of overcoming division, King Jend’s Loyal Creatures is an unmissable journey—one where mortals and mythic beasts coexist in fragile yet beautiful harmony
