Book 2 starts with chapter 42.
After too many lifetimes to count of slaying demons and grinding levels, prophesied hero Kaito finally tells destiny where to shove it.
He's done.
When dimensional portal #17 drops him in front of an enthralled king begging him to vanquish the looming Dark Army, he does what any retired adventurer would do—politely refuses and heads off to focus on the simple pleasures of life: community, and getting his taxes done on time.
No more impossible quests, no more magical MacGuffins, no more final bosses. Kaito is putting his armor out to pasture for good in a cozy village baking hell-herbs and bread. He's found peace. He's found home. He's finally free to live out his slice-of-life fantasy.
- Readers can expect a slice of life and comedy, with a dash of action and light romance, centered around an overpowered hero who doesn't want to be one.
- Updates on Wednesday and Sunday.

- felitopcxRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Isekais tend to have a repetitive formula, so I'm always a bit skeptical when I start a new one. However, this one caught me off guard. It actually made me laugh. I honestly can't remember the last time I laughed out lout reading a novel. It's got this casual, slice of life vibe, but it cleverly weaves in a progressive storyline that keeps things interesting. What's really cool about it is how they introduce these new characters. Each one brings their own unique personality to the table, making the interactions and dynamics really entertaining. It's a refreshing change from the usual isekai tropes.
So far, I'm enjoying the journey. The humor is spot on, not too over-the-top but just enough to give you a good laugh. The plot doesn't feel forced or predictable, which is a huge plus in my book. I'm curious to see where they take the story, especially with this unique cast. I plan to keep reading and will definitely give an update if my opinion changes. But as of now, I'm pleasantly surprised and hooked. If you're tired of the same old isekai formula, this novel might just be what you're looking for.
For anyone reading this: I believe you will love Karen.
