- People's-PopperRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alright, if you read this you would be able to tell the author had no idea what they were doing at the start. Luckily, that's only for about the first two chapter, they seemed to have got some plan in mind now. The plan in mind is actually pretty good. The fight scenes are all creative, but a bit short but I'm sure the author will improve as the story goes on. No one writes a masterpiece in 20 chapters.
The characters are all really well written as well, and there's a fair few. There's a lot of inclusiveness as well in the story, people from all over the world are included which is nice to see.
The setting the author is using for the tutorial is extremely original and I'm quite interested to see where they go with it. While the stats and some of the skills may be considered basic, some of the other skills classes and skills are fresh and original, the MCs class included. The author has a lot of potential to do good with their characters.
Another bonus is that it's a novel with a system. I love those types of stories so this one will be a godsend to me once it gets more chapters released.
Overall, this is a novel I will continue to read to see where it goes, I'm really curious for what's at the end of the tutorial. - RuphireRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is a rough gem that's slowly being chiselled to a diamond. It has vast potential compared to many other stories in this website. The actual story becomes far better after chapter 40 and onwards.
The first 40 chapters could be improved upon as I felt it doesn't do the story justice compared to the chapters that come afterwards. I hope the author can find the time to slowly rework on the initial 30 chapters.
The development of the plot of the story is slightly slow. However, this doesn't detract from the story. On the contrary, it allows the characters to be built and the world to gradually be revealed. The author has taken the time to build up the direction of the story - everything is slowly revealed. We are dumped into the middle of a moving world and learn alongside the main character.
The strong point of this story are the characters. As someone else commented somewhere in the story, the characters grow over the course of the story. We are introduced to Kai, who is fairly innocent to the ways of the world and like your everyday teenager. We see how he slowly grows as a person especially in the latter chapters. The Kai at the beginning and the Kai in the latter chapters are quite different. We can see how Kai's experiences are shaping his character. Some side characters are also being developed such as Noelle and co. as we find out more about them and how their experiences shaped who they are. Not all of the side characters are developed as a whole though, but this should be a work-in-progress for the author.
The story's grammar isn't by far the best on this website, however it's nowhere near the worst either. It's still readable and the descriptions are there even though it can be formulated better. I would recommend the author to find an editor or utilise an online editing tool to improve the grammar. It would certainly make the story shine even more.
Overall, I recommend the story to new readers. The first 40 chapters don't do the story justice at all - SpoiledSecretsRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The story itself is promising, but there are several aspects that frustrate me.
The titles of the chapters are frankly terrible. They detract from the story rather than adding to it. It might be more effective to simply number them instead.
I couldn't help but notice a recurring pattern where female characters are depicted as mentally resilient and strong, while male characters often appear weak and cowardly. It would be refreshing to see a more diverse portrayal of characters regardless of gender.
It feels like the narrative lacks direction at times. Did you have a clear plan or outline before writing? The story comes across as somewhat disjointed and random, which can be off-putting to readers.
Additionally, the main character's tendency to trust others too easily is a bit frustrating. It would add depth to the story if their trust was earned more cautiously. - palecroot8Royal Road★★ 1.5Sometimes one must “suspend their disbelief” in a story. Not everyone can be an expert in everything and sometimes the reader knows better sometimes they do not. Therefore there is a range of understanding something is wrong or ‘out there’ as you read and allowing some leeway so you can enjoy a novel. It’s fantasy at the end of the day. This amount of leeway and for what topic varies wildly on a very subjective and personal basis. For instance as someone who has spent their whole life shooting from the time I was four in the states I have to be and am fairly forgiving in novels where firearms are a staple of the series but the author has had minimal exposure to said firearms. I can be understanding in misuse, lack of use or dubious results of the use of firearms in a story; not everyone has had the privilege to use a modern weapon and personally I can forgive a lot. If the stories good. However, I can not forgive very fundamental and obvious truths that are blatantly ignored for the sake of getting some weird character archetype. Which brings us to the bizarre characters in this novel. They don’t fit well together; absolutely zero chemistry. They don’t act like I would expect people to. And the backstory of one of the main characters is so laughable it’s insulting. The author wants a fit strong female lead fine I can suspend some belief. This character got fit while starving to death in a small cell for years and working out at the same time. Also this teenage girl became some pseudo self taught martial expert by shadow boxing essentially. I can give some rope to suspend my disbelief but don’t try to hang me with it author. I mean that’s one of the dumbest backstories of all time. Most importantly I am not willing to overlook something like that for a story that’s below mediocre.
- kmuRoyal Road★ 0.5Kinda tired of reading books that have the male character a idiot but the female characters are so strong and intelligent , I believe the writer is female because even the wolf is female!! The vibe of the story was not good the mc was acting very much like a girl and I did not like that all
- shade978Royal Road★ 0.5There are very few times I'll say not to bother even trying to read something, this is one of those times.
The writing is incredibly stilted, it's beyond jarring to read. As another reviewer mentioned the author seems to have some sort of fetish with making the male characters as pathetic as possible and the female characters competent.
The comedy attempted falls flat. The stories of how some of the female characters got strong make no sense at all.
You could be forgiven for thinking this was written by a 12 year old who's just discovered the term 'girl - power', in all honesty.
Either that or a teen with an odd variation of a femdom fetish.
Don't bother reading.
