- SwitzerRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read more than a few lit RPGs in the past. I'd never considered how a rich history of the Mediterranean along with the Greek / Roman gods and goddesses could be used. This story does an excellent job of developing believable characters in a world with historical ties to ancient myths and legends.
The MC is not perfect, with losses that are impactful and permanent. The system is simple and relatively straightforward, with minimal cluttering and easy to understand rules/limits. - UlbertRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm really not in the mood for an advanced review and me being a patron would mean that I actually had to see what happened up to chapter six, so no. It is Void Herald, which is a big plus. A story that I know will end is actually great. Kairos takes the litrpg genre to post apocalyptic greece, where the last survivors( probably) live at the top of mountains, the rest being flooded. With ancient beasts and an author that does actually do a little research instead of looking at two sentences from a wikipedia article, this fiction is great. Nothing to be surprised about really. The only author on this site which really is consistently good at writing is void. Bea has some probs from time to time, Exterminatus (I miss you ma boi) fell from grace and people that pull their fictions are ruining their relationship with their RR audience. And yet here we are.
void managed to do it again. Cheers, fellow readers. - Venit_HaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is the one where Maxime perfected the episodic nature of RoyalRoad and the embraced the power scaling nature the readers preferred on the website. You may feel like Kairos is acquiring powers faster than rain collected by a harvester but such is a nature of Litrpg stories and Void has blended storytelling and power elements to tell a grand story in short amount of pages.
It doesn't take away the essence of a good story and all plot points, narrative and characters are well thought out in the story. - Speargrass BlacksmithRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0this story is one that i followed almost since it was started, and what a ride!
There was some points in the story where i found it it was a little tedious to read, but that is most likely due to ussues surrounding my mindset rather than individual chapetrs. i saw the growth of the characters very organic, and effort based rather than typical achievement based, and the creativity the characters had in using their abilities to solve problems before the shiney upgrade (most of the time) was refreashing, as opposed to a typical deus ex machina of "hardship- skill upgrade that deals with hardship- inevitable win via plot armour" all in all this was a great read and worth the time invested bot waiting and actally reading, as a fan of voidy's writing (now completed 4) i think you have earned a long term fan! - Twenty Five WordsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Read the first chapter, and I'm already hooked. Void's experience as an author shows, as it's chapter 1 and we already have 1. Some basic worldbuilding, 2. Lovable characters, and 3. A decent amount of backstory for the MC. I was hooked from the first paragraph, and the action reeled me in. Defiently gonna stick around for this.
- CheshireccatRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Slow start!
Stick with it a bit longer than you would, you won't regret it!
I absolutely LOVE the world. Adventures in ancient Greece with the author riffing on the myths of gods and ancient monsters we all know?
Yeah. It's definitely worth a read.
(And who wouldn't want a pet griffon? :P) - Doctor ZeroRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The Perfect Run is my favorite Void book - because I personally love superheroes and snark - but Kairos is probably his best work. The characters are so good. Each one is a mash-up of flaws, strengths, and desires that are also flaws and strengths. Every interaction is a joy for the reader, as two characters vie for their goals, and Void serves up a resolution that's suprising, internally consistent, and satisfying. And then he does it again in the next chapter. It's magic.
- Joao ArthurRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm quite a hurry so forgive me for being so direct.
World-building 10/10
Characters feel like real people, like humans, something which is rarer than you think. 10/10
Grammar 9.5/10, while he does not miss type anything, some lines and their structure could be a little optimized, to not cause misunderstandings/interpretations. - KaiserMoonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0First off, the setting is so interesting, being a sunken world with greek legends everywhere. The system too, its not over played and suffocating like other LitRPGs often are, but rather tastefully done. The main character too, he his intersting and appears to have some depth. The fights are good and the conversation compelling. Every nearly character is interesting.
Grammar got 5 stars cause I have noticed no errors in my reading.
Story got 4.5 stars because if some of the things I listed above, a great setting, a well done system, good fights, and compelling conversation. the only reason in lost that half star, is because some story elements seem, maybe not forced, but a tiny bit rushed, if I could give it 4.9 stars I would.
Character got a 4 because as I mentioned before, the characters are compelling, and seem to have some depth. Their interacting work and they play off each other well. The reason it lost a star is because some of the characters have some cliche interactions but they are few and far between.
Style got a 4.5 because its just good plain and simple. The way the story is presented is great, the way the adventures play out and the downtime between them is all great, the author is really good at "show don't tell", so I have no complaints really. Except maybe one, if you are reading quickly, and you run across where the author makes a bunch of things happen really quickly in succession in a fight, you have to backtrack and slow down to understand whats going on. But thats only a problem if you are reading quickly. - blkov888Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0As soon as I saw that this novel was from void I knew it was going to be good and I was not disappointed the story is great and has a good balance strong but not overpowered mc, interesting story. Reminds me of seaborn but that's probably because they're the only pirate novels I read
