Description
Fiffil, a young goblin girl in a world that runs on rules like that of a game, just wants to be free to explore the surface world. But, as a low level mob, she’d be killed the instant she stepped foot outside of the safety of the village.
When a being from a higher plane offers her the power she needs, she takes it without question. Is he a God, a Devil, or something else? Unchained from her fate, what will happen to Fiffil the Goblin, and what role does she play in her otherworldly patron’s mysterious game?
Cancelled/Hiatus unless I can somehow figure out how to fix the corner I wrote myself into.

- JordiskRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0This has only reached Chapter Four, but it appears to update fairly rapidly so we should soon have more.
We start out with one of those "meta" scenes, where the forces of "good" and "evil" are playing some form of chess against each other. This is a little cliche, but I actually like this start. To show that this isn't your normal Mortal chess, one of the sides draws a card, allowing them to get a new piece.
From context clues, mostly her class, the card was a Joker.
Using this drawn card, the player is able to turn a "neutral" piece into one of his pieces, along with giving it additional abilities. He chooses a little goblin girl on the edge of death after her village was raided by Adventurers, who then becomes the MC of the story.
Since then, the little goblin girl has just barely reached the surface. She is fighting the adventurers she meets (since they want to kill Goblins), and gaining Levels and Skills. I actually like the names given to her skills, they fit the whole "God's Game" thing going and her class. - Waffle(est)Royal Road★★★★ 4.0TLDR: It's good!
The character building is unexpectedly high quality given the superficially silly premise. Everybody behaves in a believable manner, both NPC and PC, monster and human. This really carries the story and takes it from a what-if fantasy to something you can get seriously immersed in.
I have read many RR novels where mortals are made playthings for gods, usually this feels bolted on though and serves little purpose aside from undermining the MC. Thus I was initially very concerned when I read the first couple of chapters. In this case however mortals being toys for gods is the story, with the MC simply being one paticularly unusual pawn that we follow around. At least for now this works remarkably well. The key here being that The gods of this world are not some distant unpredictable entities that appear out of the blue to undermine the readers understanding, but take/ share the center stage from the start and are introduced to the reader very thoroughly. There has been no arbitrary history rewrites or deus-ex-nerfs or other sins that have caused me to drop stories previously (Perhaps it is instructive that in some of these cases the god(s) seems to have been introduced as a thin excuse for these arbitrary edits).
