Just Another Madcap Fantasy Adventure

Description

Gordan is a thief and a rogue who has a knack for getting into trouble, but this time he's in over his head. And it’s not even his fault!

All he wanted was to find out how he came to have a tail, pointy teeth, and a few other characteristics that are just plain odd.

How was he to know this simple quest would set him up against pretty much everyone?

Just Another Fantasy Adventure is a humorous sword and sorcery tale packed with magic, fast-paced action, escalating mayhem and even a touch of a bumbling, inept romance.

(No harem, no gamelit, just good old fashioned fantasy fun with a bit of humor thrown in for good measure.)

Author's note: A long time ago in a galaxy far away, an earlier version of this story was published elsewhere, under a different title. So there's a tiny, almost infinitesimal chance you might recognize it.

Chapters average around 2000 words, but can be quite variable in length. After an initial burst, I'll publish one a day - or two if the chapter is particularly short.

If you've stumbled across this somehow, I hope you enjoy reading. :-)

Provided that the title almost fooled me, i have to admit that it really does set up the right tone for this novel. It's irreverent, fun, quirky and weird. I loved every second of it!
the setting is what you would expect your run of the mill medieval fantasy to be set into, without too much worldbuilding in the first few chapters. We are greeted by a first person narrator that follows the adventures of... (forgot the name of the MC - i blame the first person pov for this). In any case, this means that since the mc is not interested in the world too much, beyond what it can offer him in the shape of an adventure, we also dont know too much. Details are sprinkled in, however, and it feels like there is a world out there that will slowly be fleshed out.
The characters are where this novel shines. In ten chapters we barely have two worthy of their name, but they are a load of fun. Well written, unique voices with fun interactions that are the core of the novel so far.
The action is narrated in the same quirky voice as the rest of the novel, not punch by punch and therefore NOT BORING. What a relief. I love smartly written action scenes, and this novel is full of them.
this brings me to the style. It's refreshing, young and quirky, fantastical and whimsical and yet snarky and irreverent like the mc. I love it, makes the story that much more interesting and even boring scenes that i would have otherwise skipped become super nice to read and breeze through. There are time skips where the novel would have been boring, there are interludes of inner monologue that dont feel out of place, and the whole narration is peppered with the mc's own personal thoughts. It could have gone either way, and in this case it struck the mark. Well done!

A very well written novel of the adventures and mischief that one Gordan of Riss causes as he seeks out who he is.  As he seeks his origin he manages to be a master of chaos and mayhem. He is very, very skilled at making friends at every stop in his world who often wish for him to 'hang around' for a while and even enjoy a fun game of tag before having a nice drink to an end of the day.
