Description

Junkyard Jones is a resourceful and intelligent private eye whose natural talent is evident in his work, though its expression is often shaped by his fierce need to assert his independence. This craving for freedom frequently sets him at odds with a world he perceives as overly fixated on order and routine, earning him little patience for those he dismisses as "order-takers." Yet, despite his disdain for conformity, Jones is driven by an unwavering commitment to justice, compelling him to act when others might walk away. Now, with Claudia Wells dead from an apparent drug overdose, he is relentlessly pursuing whoever may be responsible for her death, determined to uncover the truth.

This is an oddity for me to read, I wasnt expecting a mystery and didnt understand i was reading one, which i think is an exceptional trait for a book to do, mystery's are about there curveballs aren't they?
I stumbled across this while browsing aimlessly looking for anything to fill my time and I've come to find a really nice, enjoyable read. (So much so i haven't even finished it and feel the need to praise the author)
In this book you are taken alongside "Junkyard" Jones who is a PI in the crystal city, Id like to say more but I don't want to spoil anything! Its almost as if you are solving the case with jones though and its a thrilling feeling.
The characters are real enough that when the mystery aspect of the novel happens you feel bad for those involved.

Some odd parts that i dont think are believable in the story, also some parts where i feel the author is unfair in the mystery, but at the end of the day, for someone's first mystery book it is quite grand, the book reads like butter.
I still dont understand what exactly the point was of some scenes, I think red herrings? but they didnt stay long enough/be notable enough for the reader to be lead awry, neither did jones.
I understand the motive now, but i dont think it went into how the dead, got such information on the killer.
Also the introduction of the killer is smart, clever dont get me wrong, but i feel like it was in an information jumble which makes the reader skim though. Ive yet to tell if that was purposeful or not.
Overall a swell book - nothing but praise for the author and i ask him not to take anything i say to heart, im not a professional book reader or anything & i think the author made a great book.
