Description

The royal bastard of House Vasquer, Argrave, changed after his stay studying magic at the Tower of the Gray Owl. The sickly man's awkward posture and cruel behavior have been replaced with a neat dignity and acerbic wit. Though once listless, he now strives towards his goals with a life-or-death tenacity. Most come away thinking he seems to know too many details about too much. Few can claim to know his motives or his goals.

Yet behind that confident appearance, the primary contributor for an open-world RPG's wiki battles existential dread and things far beyond his ken as he struggles to adapt to a grim, gothic fantasy world mirroring his favorite game. The prospect of fighting against a world-ending calamity loses all of its appeal when it transitions from entertainment to reality. Argrave is spurred towards unwanted heroism to preserve his life as he struggles desperately to keep this sinking ship afloat.

I don't usually go for reincarnation stories where Chara ters have knowledge of events, but our main character being a normal person, and forgetting things is helping immensely. He feels like an actual person, rather than a walking computer recalling even the smallest details, somehow. Even with the beginning chapters of this story he is seen to work hard to achieve things and to learn about a new world.

The description of this story isn't great, the first few chapters are rough, and then somehow around chapter five it all comes together in to an absolutely incredible story. The characters are well written, the grammar is decent, the plot is good, but the intrigue, the politics, the hairbrained schemes the MC comes up with, they are absolutely top tier. It might not be a master piece of literature, but it is the most fun story on this site.

I have read a lot of stories on RR but this is one of the best. The writing is excellent, it's well constructed, funny but not comical, and the narrative moves at a fast yet respectable pace. This story is well worth your valuable reading time. I can't recommend it enough.

I'll keep this short, this story has been a blast so far. The only downside I initially saw was the main character seemed to have everything go his way to easily, but the more he alters things and impacts the world around him, the more everything seems to unravel for him. How he reacts to these changes and how he learns to trust others has been fun to read so far, hopefully it continues that way.
This has to be one of the best isekais I have ever read if not the best. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in the genre.

    This feels professionally done.
Characters have depth, each are unique, they interact with each other. The best part is they act like the world keeps spinning outside of the MC. Side characters also have depth!
Punctuation is good. I catch a couple errors here and therez but they usually get fixed.
World building and magic each are descriptive enough, that you can kind of mentally picture each seperate place.
The only thing I personally disagree with, is our boy telling them its a game. I myself would have used a metaphor, but owell, this takes nothing away from a good story. Been meaning to write a review for awhile, been following on patreon for months now.

I'm not realy good at writing reviews, so I am going to try and make this quick - read this story. Legitimately, this is one of the best stories on RR in my opinion. All the characters are very fleshed out, there is an urgent overaching plot. Characters do not get too overpowered too quickly - although the main crew is powerful, they have reasonable opponents. There is not very obvious plot armor. The MC is very intelligent and uses his intelligence; however, he still has very realistic flaws. The romance is GOOD, something that very rarely happens, and is not shoved down our throats - it progressed in a very natural way. READ THIS BOOK

Among this ongoing novel's many noteworthy attributes, the life breathed into the characters is its greatest strength, in particular the main character Argrave. Seeing both Argrave and other characters utilize their strengths while balancing out their weaknesses in clever and innovative ways is a literary treat, and the lime light being shared among various members of the cast helps enrich one's appreciation for the unique perspectives each brings to the table, such as
the subplot thread involving Durran and Garm's deal and the motives behind their choices,
Annelise's information gathering skills through her empath capabilities, and Galamon's tempered experience over the long years of his life spent as a general. Argrave's own cleverness and planning help draw one in, his witticisms and humor engaging people both within the story and among the audience members. It's delightful to find a main character able to keep pace and maintain interest in their own right through sheer force of personality amidst as strong a story as "Jackal Among Snakes".
And what a strong story it is—not only must Argrave work towards trying to save the world from absolute calamity, he has to work his planned steps through the most insidious obstacles of all: politics, with a side of deadly family drama, and the widespread inertia of scepticism prior to undeniable signs of the end times being revealed. Even better, all of these obstacles are made to be believable and reasonable from the perspective of differing sides given the information they have—
in as much as any character can be reasonable while being driven mad by a chaotic, world devouring God.
The exploration of different kinds of madness and cruelty among the other Vasquer family members goes beyond the classic broad brushstrokes of antagonistic characterization for the sake of being antagonists, and has those characteristics impact and interact with the world in ways that promise to continue to be riveting to see unfold as the tale p

There are so much story that are not that great, or not that well-written, but jackal among the snakes is scoring excellent on both. The MC is just one strong people among many, that is the main reason this story is exciting, and All characters in this story have their own personality, unique one at that.

The story has been enjoyable so far and my favourite part has to be the dialogue.
The conversations between characters is spot on, informative without being info dumps and fulfils the classic ideal of "show, don't tell" perfectly. It's some of the best I've seen in years and kicked the stars up to 5 all on it's own.
The world building has been quite good and I can see a lot of effort and planning have gone into it and the story itself.
I'll definitely be following this one.

This author is writing an amazing story, full of relatable characters going through their own story arcs, in a world that is fully realized and full of fantastical lands! There are already over 400 chapters in this story, and none of it feels rushed (except for the typos). The protagonist is not always the center of the story, with so many characters for the reader to discover and understand while we follow this roller coaster of a story! While this is a GameLit story, it is an interesting take on the idea and does a masterful job of stretching beyond the standard fare that most GameLit stories attempt. If you like character growth and world building, political intrigue and verbal sparring, fantastical lands and people, and gods and magic: do yourself a favor and start this journey!
