To make matters worse, he is assigned the Role of Exorcist, which is the most dangerous of all Adventurer Roles.
Ryūtareluctantly becomes the apprentice of a suspicious older Exorcist, who turns out to be a ruthless teacher, and he soon realises that his new career will be fraught with danger and terrifying monsters. During his journey he will partner up with interesting companions and make uneasy pacts with supernatural entities, as he tries to grow into his Role as an Exorcist. Along the way he fights against the monsters caused by the sins of men, as well as corrupted Exorcists who have become a part of the darkness they were meant to fight.
The story is not completely finished, but the first half of it is wrapped up within the first 181 chapters available here. This page will be updated when I continue writing on the second half in 2025.

- purplehorse333Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0First and foremost, what I love the most about this novel is the world building and it's characters. Along with our MC traveling to vastly different lands and encountering unique situations, there is never a dull moment with him and his companions.
On top of that, there is also the unique system, one so vast and with limitless possibilities that I've only seen in this novel. You want to devote your life to an Eldritch otherworldly being? Sure. What about binding a supernatural creature to items, or even infusing them with yourself or accidentally leading to your own possession? Why the fuck not. The possibilities of the magic in this story seem to be limitless, as long as you have the creativity to think about it.
Finally, the plot of the story itself. Before I found this novel, I tried it out, not thinking I was really one for detective antics. Boy did I find out otherwise. The drama, conflict, suspense and horrors to each nightmarish encounter is never lacking, and I dare say has made me appreciate the genre of mystery much more.
Another memorable note I have to mention is the vulnerability of the characters, or more specifically the MC. It is a breath of fresh air to have a realistic, sensible, and rightfully flawed MC who isn't very calm seeing grotesque abominations at first, but at the same time doesn't end up as some murder hobo or a cold person due to being exposed to such horrors. All in all, you should definitely try this out. - CelsicaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was surprised to see another Isekai with such a high ranking on Rising Star... Decided to give it a try without expecting too much.
I'll keep it short, just 9 chapters in and I had a blast.
The premise is so overdone but the author thankfully keeps it short. At first, it felt weird since I was used to a ridiculous amount of exposition and mediocre world building in this type of novels, but things very quickly become juicy.
The characterization is good. It's not Game of Thrones, but characters are believable and not overdone. They have clear flaws and good points, and shown through action, not just blabber.
The first "monster story" follows a Shonen trope of meeting a master and a strong woman, and the mystery isn't revolutionary, but it was a page turner. I'm just enjoying it more and more as the chapters come, and I hope the author will continue to let things grow naturally.
There's absolutely no grammar issues and it is very smooth to read
The shine format makes for a few chapters covering a story with a clear beginning, middle and end. The style is smooth like a beer on a hot day.
I hope this continues on the long term! - ChikenChaserRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The first few chapters aren't that well written and might put you off but give it a chance and the writing really i proves past chapter 10. The characters feel real and fleshed out, the concept of the story is very interesting leading to a more thinking and problem solving MC rather than an op "kill now think later".
- CravenGrayRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This debut novel delivers a dark and thrilling fantasy experience. The concept of an ordinary person being transported to a world of Adventurers and forced into the role of an Exorcist is an engaging take on the genre. The world-building is vivid, and the author's knack for creating a sense of peril and impending danger is commendable.
Ryūta's journey from reluctance to resilience is a central theme, and it's well-executed. The supporting characters, though, could benefit from more depth and backstory. But, it is just starting!
Overall, it's a promising start to what could become an exciting series, and I look forward to seeing how the story unfolds in the future. - GoodMornin2uRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The MC is super relatable and clever, but he doesn’t really have anything that makes him “Only I can do this bc I have this super awesome intrinsic thing” which I love! Really makes MC feel like an Everyman, and that he could’ve been anyone who was put in that situation. Other characters are wonderful, and the rotation of them is something I didn’t know I was missing in other books, but the author did a wonderful job of it! I read all the available chapters in 4 days, and gosh darn it was it worth every second! I quite literally couldn’t put it down! The “stats” part of the story is there, yes, which was a little off putting at first, cause I thought it was gonna be one of those stories where anyone can become super strong if you just level up, but my fears were quickly put to rest as they took a comfortable backseat in the story, always there, but not in your face. Speaking of stats, love how the author made the stats not just something there only as a concept, but instead making said stats have a real effect on the characters life, in the form of habits or urges! 10/10 story, I NEED MORE!!
- Jack0fheartRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0In 'Isekai Exorcist', Temaru Ryūta finds himself transported to a medieval world called Mondus, where he becomes an "Otherworlder" and takes on the role of an Exorcist.
Overall score 5/5: The story unfolds beautifully, with a well-developed plot that keeps readers hooked. The MC's unique profession and well-developed world make it a must-read for fans of supernatural and progression genres.
Style score 5/5: The writing style is both immersive and captivating. The author expertly crafts vivid descriptions, bringing the world of Mondus to life. The fast-paced narrative does well to keep the reader hooked.
Story score 5/5: This delivers a gripping and action-packed story that never loses momentum. The protagonist, Ryūta, finds himself in a new and dangerous world as an Otherworlder, tasked with becoming an Exorcist. And there he faces many challenges!
Battles with goblins, investigating the mysteries surrounding Hamsel's Rest, and many more to come!
Grammar score 5/5: The grammar is flawless, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable reading experience.
Character score 5/5: The characters are well-developed and multi-dimensional, each bringing their own unique traits and complexities to the story. Ryūta starts his journey as an unprepared Otherworlder into the role of aspiring Exorcist, marking clear progression even at the start of the story. Master Owl and Rana add depth and intrigue to the story with their experienced yet enigmatic personas.
'Isekai Exorcist' is a captivating and well-crafted story that will leave readers eagerly awaiting the next installment. It has an engaging narrative, well-rounded characters, and thrilling world-building. I highly recommend it for fans of isekai and supernatural genres! ♥ - JuriaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A very interesting story, it really shows the personalities of the characters that are in focus, the proposal of being an exorcist was very well worked and I believe it talks well with the more translational classes of the book, the idea of statistics having an extra differential marked the book and is not left aside as it usually happens, being a good limiter and hindrance to pay attention to the writing,This story is worth reading, especially for those who are already more familiar with the isekai theme, as it gives a new feel. the direction of the story interests me but (SLIGHT SPOILER) I believe it is more interesting to end Ryuta's story and tell it from another character who is a newbie being guided by the already consolidated exorcist a few years later in the new portal (by google translate)
- LonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This story is very fun and the concept behind it all is amazing. It made me think of why some of it's core premises weren’t used in other novels and stories. Or maybe they just aren't mentioned, oh well.
If you enjoy a more investigative kind of story I recommend giving this story a try because of the following reasons:
As is said in the summary of this book, mc got his role(or a class if you want to use the most common term) assigned to him and boy, it’s considered a bad result by the masses, and there is nothing to be done besides accept his fate.
Only Otherworlders can get a Role and this makes it that Ryūta isn’t the only person that was sent to this world.
The writing is very intriguing, makes you wonder what happens next and the whole investigation scenes are very fun to see. It’s very easy to get hooked on the story since it doesn’t over explain itself.
The concept behind the story is simply amazing and it makes a lot of sense into the world setting. Let's imagine the following scenario ok?
You are the mage of a party and you find a bunch of robbers, you swiftly cast a fireball to hit all of them and some die in the fire and your party just moves on towards new adventures.
But what if one of the enemies you killed had a desire so strong that his soul ended up being anchored in the world of the living? Well you now have a haunt that is like a fire ghost going around doing mischief or maybe even killing people that pass by there.
And now an exorcist needs to come and solve this ghost problem.
That is the general premise of Isekai Exorcist. Do note that the example does not happen in the story but the general feeling to it and steps of actions do.
There are some minor mistakes here and there in the grammar but honestly it’s not something that will hinder your reading experience.
I have fun with the characters, they have layers and don’t seem to fall too much into their stereotypes. Let’s say that when you get a class that is treated very badly and is too special - RaccoonukiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was expecting something Less from this story. I hoped for a bit of an interesting world and got way more than expected. I hoped for interesting powers, ooooh boy did i get it. Overall it was so much MORE than I could have expected. Given main character being Japanese I was marginally disappointed with some of the routes it could have gone with, but that wasn't enough of a detractor in my mind to take away from everything else. Solid 9.75/10
- malinizgeldiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0ridiculous, sometimes one of the best novels of its kind
In general, I have been following the series since the day it first came out. I think it's been 10 months. It gives me most of what I expect from a novel, including the main character, the world we live in, and the balance of power.
Character development is just as good. There is a high school kid who literally fascinates us. And this kid is neither a bullying teenager nor a house badger cowering in the corner. He is a somewhat shy high school student with normal development.
In general, I really like the development of MC and its status as a party. However, sometimes I feel like things happen too fast. It's like if you skip 1 episode, you may miss important information in some arcs. There is something special about the mc, but we never see it clearly and he is not the MAIN CHARACTER of this world. Beşki is a little special, but he is not the main character.
