The style of the fiction is one of the major downfalls. The fiction switches between first and third person narration, and overall feels like someone reading out a script for a play. Sticking to one narrative voice or, at the least, making switches more obvious and scarce, would greatly improve the feel of the fiction.
Story notes: the premise seems interesting and can carry the story if properly supported by the rest of the work. Readers may find it similar to existing stories, but it deviates enough in the execution to keep them interested. Overall, the story itself doesn't need to change and the author should try to put his effort in polishing the rest to make it pop out more.
The opening chapter lacks a consistent hook or any sort of investment into the protagonist. The character feels bland and his point of view is too restrictive to allow proper immersion. There is an obvious inspiration from Japanese Light Novels in the way the character thinks and acts, but that doesn't help in making him more believable.
The grammar is actually passable, but the author needs to watch out for incomplete or run-on sentences. A lot of sentences are written like a flow-of-thought, which makes it both easier to read, but also harder to provide nuanced understanding of what is going on except for snippets.
