Despair loomed over the globe. All resources were exhausted, and hope was all lost.
When three-player chess that will decide the lives of billions of people was at its zenith, a portal appeared in the sky. Monsters, bigger than the biggest animal, harder than the hardest metal poured out of the abyss...
Putting aside their differences, humanity united to fight against their common enemy. But the weapons were ineffective. The most powerful weapons of science could not do even the slightest bit of damage to monsters. While desperation reigned, science prevailed, and laser weapons were born. The first blood was spilled... The first monster was killed!
However, it wasn't laser weapons that allowed humanity to win the war, but a piece of orb found in the monster's brain. When supplied with electricity, the orbs would turn into pre-determined objects. These orbs turned into weapons that could damage monsters, and the more monsters were killed, the more weapons were found.
With the newly looted weapons and the determination of humanity to get rid of this disease, the monsters were pushed back. At that moment, a messenger flew from the portal in his radiant form. An Artificial Intelligence produced by the native race living in the Portal World...
Called Mother AI by humans, this object used the miracles of the alien world to help humanity close the portal. With these miracles, humans awakened superpowers to fight against monsters.
An unfortunate teenager, Miles Cross, was born with dormant Ancient Genes and failed to awaken his superpower. Instead, he used every means to get stronger...

- lolboiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Right now, we're at chapter 237 and i can say that while it's at a somewhat stagnant pace at the beginning, it picks up and omg does it pick up beautifully.
The story, the world building, the action, the characters all are fleshed out nicely and it's overall just a beautiful piece of work.
Love it, keep up with the good work my dude - kurokurookieRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0it is a lot of plagiarism in the beginning to Super Gene, but still not complete copy and paste, and somewhat better with not always winning and got what he wanted so worth the read. later it taste like HxH + Versatile Mage which is 3 stories i liked.
the problem is,
this is fckn INCOMPLETE
should be tagged as DROPPED
or at least HIATUS
to not waste everyone's time - Glacial DawnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alrighty, first off how is this story 300+ Chapters, but little to no comments, follows, or favorites? I'm only 90 chapters in, but I wanted to get this review on this story ASAP.
So the short and dirty. This story is not a 10/10. It's a solid and safe 9/10. I personally have a few gripes, but that is not the fault of the author, just me as a reader.
If you grew up enjoying Digimon, Zach Bell, Hunter x Hunter, and other young protag animes you will enjoy this story. If you like progression stories, or wuxias, you will like this story. If titles such as 'He Who Fights With Monsters' or 'Path of Asension' are ones you enjoy, you will like this story. Honestly this is a vibe of a story I've been missing for a whlie. The fact it's over 300 chapters makes it even better.
As an overall summary, this is your classic MC starts off weak/different, finds/aquires a 'cheat' or a solution to his problem, and then becomes a top 10% fighter. So far what we are seen as a reader is limited and narrow.
Style: There are times I think the writing style is a bit bland, but not in a bad way. (I know that sounds weird) In fight scenes, there isn't an over explanaion, it's just enough. I wish there was a bit more enviromental telling in certain scenes or areas, but I understand that it's not always important. Smells, temperatures, textures, maybe if wildlife noises exist or not. These are missing, but not in a way that takes away from the story. This is just me being picky. Over all, the writing style fits the story like a glove. There has never been a time where I skipped over things due to the writing.
Grammar: This one is short. Handful of writting errors, but again, it never takes you out of the story but once or twice. If you reread the sentence, you will understand. There was twice where he and she were swapped with a character and it threw me off really hard, but that's it. Over all, a better speller than I am.
Story: Okay, so overall plot. I feel like there are times where there i - TelRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5All the basics from the blurb are present and well represented. The plot is a standard overcoming the odds sort of thing which is done well enough all things considered.
Over all I like the story.
There are only two real "faults" for me that broadly fall under what most people call "polish".
(A) Pacing - The story up to current never speeds up and never slows down. It just motors along at a vaugly action scene clip from start to finish. With a bit of work it wouldn't be hard to rotate the pace between scenes to emphasize some portions and soften others.
(B) World building- the story is well described don't get me wrong the author did a proper job in the action, but it's not all about the action. The places where the story should slow down are shallow to the point of being flat, with a bare factual statement painting the facade of a scene instead of a description walking thru it and bringing it alive.
I would rate it as-is a good chapter by chapter read, but a little poor to just sit down and read as a multi-chapter at once story.
Honestly as this release is just the first pass from the original raw chapters I think God on a Hill is doing a fine job, I just read 79 chapters in one go putting some thing that are still a little rough is sharp relief. - TashieRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Let me start by saying the story is really good, I love the characters and world development as well as the plot itself. My main issue is that it is clear that English is not the author's first language and a large portion of the story shows this with strange grammar and wording (note that spelling is not an issue at all). It is definitely understandable, and the story is good enough to keep be reading, but if grammar is important to you, I don't think you will manage.
The overall style is short and to the point which is good, although sometimes it would be nice to get a bit more explanation. - DarthBanejcrRoyal Road★ 1.0Would have rated better or not read if it was marked appropriately. The author quit due to medical issues and the final chapter is just a recap of the overall backstory not a conclusion. It was a good book and I chose it due to its complete status and was looking forward to development would have even marked it better it the author had just rushed a super short ending like so many other books when the author runs out of ideas or sets to slow of a pace to finish within a reasonable amount of time.
- mdash131Royal Road★ 0.5there is no resolution on the final chapter should have just listed it as hiatus. it was a good read but then there is no resolution what so ever. its hard to read sometimes but its a free webnovel what do you expect? wont recommend since its a waste of time.
