Description
A Threat of Extinction
The Bleeding Plague Decimates The Whole Continent
The Undeads Are Rising
Time For A Change
It's Modern Warfare Time
In a continent plunged into chaos, the northern continent faces a nightmare scenario: undead creatures and husks roam freely amidst an Ebola-like outbreak, resulting in the downfall of the once-mighty demonic empire. As law and order crumble, the survival of the fittest becomes the harsh reality, further complicated by human interventions.
Amidst this turmoil, Bell, a former member of the demonic elite, discovers a ray of hope. He is granted a miraculous system with the power to summon advanced military resources, weapons, and vehicles from a time beyond his own.
He must navigate through dangerous alliances, face formidable foes, and outsmart cunning rivals in a world where trust is scarce. His journey is filled with action, adventure, and strategic battles as he aims to resurrect the fallen empire, piece by piece, no matter the cost.
When talking fails, it's time for the AC-130 to take over and make a statement from the sky.
Facing a huge group of husks? Bring in the M109 artillery to quickly deal with them.
Is a dragon causing trouble for the people? Time for the F-15 to fly in and handle it.
When the humans push forward with their northern offensive, it's our cue to introduce them to a real meat grinder – a brutal showcase that would make their previous battle a child’s play.

- keeganashleyliveRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ready for action that keeps you on the edge of your seat? You found it. This one gives military action vibes right away. We jump straight into the action without any sort of verbose explaining or intro which I very much appreciated and, honestly, the action just continues as the story does. The LitRPG elements and system are introduced in a way that isn’t too overbearing (no awkward data dumps or pages of charts) while still really giving us that crunchy vibe. I thought it was a really good combination of forward movement and stats---definitely a strength of the author and the story. Additionally, the world is very well built out (something I always enjoy seeing!). We get a sense that this is a huge world just waiting to explore.
The writing is good and flows well. I didn’t notice any grammatical errors which kept me from enjoying the story. In fact, I really liked the rolling action, the characters and the rapid pace of the battle scenes. The style of writing worked well with the entire concept and feel of the work. Well done to the author! I ‘followed’ the story and can’t wait to see what happens next. - Bookman9Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Alright, let's dive into this world where military tech meets fantasy, with Bell leading the charge. He's like the poster child for composure and strength, and you can't help but root for him every step of the way.
Style: Now, blending military jargon into a fantasy setting might sound like a recipe for confusion, but fear not! The author breaks it down for us with detailed explanations that make even the greenest recruits feel right at home.
Story: The world-building is very solid. Every grain of detail adds to the grand picture. But what's cool is how they sneak in all this juicy info without bogging down the pacing. It's like taking a stroll through a bustling weaponry marketplace – there's plenty to see and nerd about, but you're never rushed.
Character: But it's not just about the fighting. The dynamics within Bell's squad are fleshed out beautifully, giving you a real sense of camaraderie. And let's not forget Harris and Lisa – talk about a wild duo! They bring some much-needed humor to the mix. And what sets this story apart is its moral complexity. There are no clear-cut heroes or villains here, just a whole lot of gray areas and messy histories. Plus, that mention of student debt and education costs? Way too real.
Grammar: There are no mistakes. Nothing that detracted me from enjoying the story.
For those who want a go at fantasy with a splice of military setting, give this one a go! - DavidLingardAuthorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Why do I like stories with undead/zombies in them so much? Well that’s something I just can’t answer. But this one starts with zombies so you know it’s about to get a big thumbs up from me!
Then we add in demons, the foreshadowing of the humans and their unseen war and we have a really strong start to a story.
Reincarnated dead, raised to fight the demons is a fantastic setting, unique and interesting.
The system then gets introduced in a very short form, which makes me want to know more about how this world works. There’s magic for sure, as Bell uses fire to fight the juggernaut, but there’s also guns, rifles and pistols – something not often done in the genre but I personally feel should be included more often.
So far the system is interesting and not as normal as a few of the books I’ve read. The equipment seems to be gifted to Bell and appears almost magically – which actually think is a good way of dealing with it – because we can now set the precedent that the MC can do or get anything.
The pacing is good, as are the fight scenes. In terms of spelling and grammar there are a few small mistakes, word repetitions, “on” instead of “in” but these are things to be expected and can be fixed easily – certainly it doesn’t pull you from the story.
Bell as the MC seems like a likeable demon too. He seems honest so far and interacts with others in a pretty relatable way. I hope to see more back and forth a between him and the others as the book progresses.
All in all a great read. Another one to continue with and ps. I enjoyed having the character illustrations at the end of the first two chapters! - DimensionalWriter27Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'll say, as someone who aspires in the future to write a story that will contain modern weaponry in a fantasy setting...I could take some inspiration from this to say the least.
Style: The combination of modern military stuff and fantasy is brillant! The author knows how to give enough information that anyone new to this can understand reasonably well.
Story: It not only has an awesome premise...but I'll even say that it delivers on it. The protagonist that we follow has an easy enough backstory to get behind which provides good reason for his choices. I found the pacing to be good with smooth, buttery action scenes and with the breaks in between being pretty good. The system that is introduced is explained objectively.
Grammar: English isn't my first language, so I can't really say if there's anything that I may have missed, but I found that it was good enough to read and follow the story.
Character: I found Bell to be a pretty good protagonist from what I've read, he succeeds in making me want to know how he will develop.
Conclusion: If you're looking for a good fantasy story with a nice modern military twist to it, I think this might just be one to check out. - Dr. Silas reeseRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The plot lines are awesome, the arcs blend seemlessly, and the characters are extremely engaging, this could easily be a flagship story for the modern meets magic genre.
I like to get my point across with few words for those with a smaller attention span so this section is to fill the word count. - InyssaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is my first foray into military Litrpg, and even as someone who knows precisely jack an all about weapons or tactics or warfare, this still proved a very entertaining read. It might be personal preference, but it made me interested in the topic, in all the weapons and the tactics being deployed by the MC and his newfound army.
Most writers would try and fail at dropping too much exposition at the beginning with a world this different from our own, but I actually prefer the method used here. Little details about the MC's situation, his backstory and the conflicts at large around him are spoonfed to us little by little, while still initially giving us the simple framework of what the stakes and the dangers around him are.
The way the system itself works and is presented is a lot more advanced and in-depth than I would've expected; it's clear that the author has done extensive research. And while a lot of it isn't fully explained to the reader, like I said before, it made me interested in learning about those weapons.
The grammar is pretty good from what I've read so far. I only noticed that a couple of times the past tense seemed to waver into present, but it didn't repeat itself on future chapters.
So far the characters aside from the MC are pretty charismatic and form a nice team, but we know little about them and their personality takes a little while to shine through with how fast they have to get to action after appearing. Still, it's definitely a story that can work with taking things slow and methodical in that regard.
Overall, while I'm not familiar with other military Litrpgs, I can't imagine this story being anywhere but at the top of the genre, and I've personally enjoyed myself a lot so far. - David Niemitz (M0rph3u5)Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5I have to admit that, ever since binging The Devil is a Part Timer, I've really liked the trope of 'demons' as a misunderstood or innocent race, unfairly persecuted and driven to ruin by humans. I think there's something in us that remembers learning in childhood that we 'shouldn't judge a book by its cover,' and finds such a set-up quite satisfying.
In this story, the standard fantasy tech level is adjusted to include both firearms and magic at the same time, in a modern warfare setting, and that provides an interesting twist. This is also the first time I can recall a system that brings with it troops, and I like the move toward something beyond the standard MC (with perhaps a small party) fighting everything in personal combat.
The prose is workmanlike and straightforward, and seems to be well edited and proofread. Someone with more experience in military hardware may have more to say about the gear and then lingo than I do, as it's outside my experience, but it certainly gives the right feel: very specific firearms and equipment abbreviations with numbers, radio chatter, alpha bravo etc. It all immediately puts you in the right milieu. The author also seems to have a solid grasp of modern military tactics, and it feels like Bell, Lisa, and their soldiers all know what they're doing, and use the terrain and equipment available to them to their advantage.
The system is plenty crunchy, so if you enjoy a detailed system interface with a lot going on, this is going to scratch that itch very well. It is of the type that allows the user to buy equipment and have it simply appear immediately, which the protagonists use to full effect early on.
The story drops us in media res, centered on Bell, a demon lord who is in a hopeless situation, isolated and faced with roving hordes of undead, sent as shock troops by the humans trying to commit genocide on the demons. Even with a system-provided small fire-team, this means Bell is fighting for his life right away, and yo - ArachnodollRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I'll preface my review by saying that I love the fact that we are getting a story with guns that will hopefully maintain relevancy, even in a world where magic exists. Pew pew!
STYLE
This story jumps straight into the action, without any unnecessary and tedious build up. The MC, Bell, is faced with a mysterious quest to gain access to 'The Military System' and has to take down a tough monster. BIG plus points for the accurate naming and descriptions of the various weaponry and vehicles involved in the story, though it can be a little intense with so many acronyms and numbers being thrown at you in large chunks.
STORY
The story has a great premise, our protagonist has a fleshed out backstory which provides good motivation for his ongoing actions and will also set up the later goals for him to work towards. The pacing is done well, with smoothly flowing action scenes and well written lifestyle breaks. The system is explained clearly and while a little complex, the author makes good use of most of the functions offered.
GRAMMAR
Most of the story is written well, spelling errors are practically non existent though some of the prose feels a little choppy and repetitive. I didn't find it to be too interruptive to the reading experience however so still warrants a good score.
CHARACTERS
Each of the characters we've been introduced to at this point of the story are well written and complex, with their own personality quirks and defining traits. Bell, the MC, has a backstory that lays the foundations for the entire plot, though I feel he should be a little more involved in a story that seems to advertise him as the centrepiece. Side characters are not used as simple props, each having their own moments to shine and are allowed to influence the story in major ways.
To conclude, if you're a fan of military stories or like guns vs magic - definitely check this one out! - TheGreatGazpachoRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Style: The author isn't shy about delving deep into military/firearm terminology and establishing tactics; for some this can be a quick turn off as all the jargon and weapon shorthands can be confusing, but if you like your running and gunning loud and proud, you'll enjoy this. That being said, when a lot of weapon loadouts are given all at once, it is a little difficult to remember who has what and who's the correct specialist.
Story: Very little about an overarching story has been given to the reader, and it seems the narrative might be earmarked by a continual introduction of trials that Bell will have to overcome.
One partial criticism I do have is that the system feels almost out of place or that we just suddenly get it without it feeling natural, if such a phrase even applies to this story concept.
Grammar: While I did find a few instances of awkward phrasing, the author has more than shown that they are receptive to feedback and has changed grammatical errors. Always a positive.
Character: This early on, Bell, feels a little undercooked as a protagonist. We've gotten bits and pieces of who he is based on lore drops as he's talking with his crew, but it's nothing substantial. His four crewmates also feel a little underdone as well, during their combat their personalities did shine a bit brighter. The author has alluded to some of them having years of experience, so I'm optimistic that these characters will get more exploration as the narrative unfolds.
Keep it up. Bang. Bang. - Little RacoonRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Infinite Armory is filled with action, following a main trio as they delve deeper and fight against seemingly endless hordes of undead creatures. The detail in modern weaponry makes it stand out from other military fantasies, while the author also puts focus in the character dynamics to balance the fast action.
Style: 3.5/5. In general, a story that involves modern weaponry is bound to have many technical terms weaved into the writing style, which is indeed what the author has done. However, sometimes that technicality and directness can be taken to a bit of an extreme, resulting in dry narrative until the next scene of action. The LitRPG elements elevate the 'game-ness' of the story, to the point where it's almost like being in an old arcade shooting game, mowing down wave after wave of enemies to progress to the next level.
Story: 3.5/5. For a story that focuses on action, a cohesive plot is put slightly to the side in favour of writing adrenaline-pumping scenes. Still, this doesn't mean the story is lacking in direction. The plot progresses in a linear fashion, putting the reader's entire focus into what's in front of them, fitting for the vibe of a military story. There is zero fluff, no unnecessary text, just fight, and fight, and fight some more.
Grammar: 4/5. Grammar flows generally smoothly, though there are areas, particularly around the description of weapons where it can feel clunky and unnatural.
Character: 4.5/5. Surprisingly, for an action story the characters are crafted very well. With good chemistry that goes beyond guns and magic, the trio of Bell, Harris and Lisa create a lively yet realistic dynamic which pushes the story forward.
Overall, if you enjoy reading modern military fantasy, then this is definitely the story for you. The technical terms can feel clunky at times, but it doesn't take away the fast pacing and action the story has. With every chapter there is always something going on, and the concept as a whole doesn't get stale over time.
