Description

THE NIGHT SKY IS A LIE, PAINTED ATOP THE SCORCHING REMNANTS OF A RUINOUS WAR

For sixteen years, Everie has known little but death. On her seventeenth birthday, she greets it with open arms.

But Fate, and the Grand Mystery, have other plans for her.

As one of the last denizens of a ruined world long since abandoned by divinity, Everie finds herself without path or purpose. Now facing execution at the hands of the cult she served from birth, she consigns herself to the ignominious fate of nonexistence.

It is all she deserves, after all, for what she is and what she has done.

But then the skies sing with magic once more, crackling with rifts and tears and the awesome wonders of the cosmos beneath. Through the Layers, Everie is found; and through the Layers, she is delivered.

The one-eyed Crying Demon designates Everie as its chosen champion, bestowing upon her a mysterious artifact and heralding a quest Everie knows nor cares nothing of, before sending her off on her merry way - to a new world, rife with mystery. Magic has not yet abandoned this isolated plane, and within it Everie finds herself confronted with strange phenomena beyond her wildest imaginings. From her newfound lens, Everie learns to find hope: she is no longer Everie, the First Sister; she is Everie of House Medea, heir apparent of one of the great Dukedoms of Azer Luceras and descendant of one of the greatest - and most enigmatic - of the hundred great figures that once graced this land.

But war is coming. The artifact Everie has come to possess has granted her a keyhole to the Grand Mystery, and therefore power beyond human ken.

With power comes attention, and those beyond human ken are not so forgiving.

What to expect:

~ No romance

~ Written in Past Tense and third-person POV

~ High fantasy with intricate worldbuilding

~ An unconventional, experimental magic system

~ Lots of setup, possibly contributing to the slower pace

~ (hopefully!) character development

Chapter length fluctuates, but should generally be 2k+ each. There will be intermission chapters spliced throughout each book.Everything is plot-relevant, and cannot be skipped, unless specifically mentioned otherwise.

Book 1 (arcs 1 and 2) is finished.I'll be posting once per week at my discretion. This should stay consistent until I post the last chapter of the first book, which is Chapter 34.

Please note that I am a first time author and a highschooler. If some of this reads a little amateurish, it might be due to my relative inexperience.

This is my first review, so please, don’t be harsh.
As of writing it, I really like the story. It proceeds at a slow pace but it’s not a flaw. It gives ample time to better illustrate all the characters, the looming threats and the curious magic system. At first the aforementioned system seemed pretty similar to some popular ones, but when we receive insights from powerful characters it becomes rather intriguing. Also it seems, the author has put a lot of thought into designing an interesting and properly functioning world.
The writing is also very good. It has very few errors and you can learn a new word every other chapter.

What I've read of Incarnatia so far is an absolutely amazing novel, very much deserving of a read. Even with only 24 chapters, as of now (16 if we're not counting interludes as proper chapters) it shows how much thought went into the gripping story and the intricately designed world it plays in.
From the first chapter on the authors writing style has been nigh impeccable to me and it has only improved since then, something which I honestly didn't think was possible. Vivid descriptions of the environment, people and actions make the world seem alive and dialogue reads very smoothly and natural.
The story has been interesting to me since I first read the description and the thing that got me to give this novel a try in the first place and I have to say, the parts of it out so far have definitely met/exceeded my expectations. If anything it has intrigued me even more. The only reason I'm giving 4,5 and not 5 stars for this point right now is that there is simply not enough out yet for me to be completely sure, though I will amend my rating to 5 stars once the first arc concludes and it continued with this quality.
The grammar is almost perfect too, at most there are some minor mistakes, but nothing that really detracts from the experience.
On a different note, I really find it insanely impressive how someone in highschool, around the same age as myself, can write something this good. Keep up the great work author and thank you for writing!

"Incarnatia" is a gripping tale that, although fictitious, has haunting shades of reality, constantly reminding its readers of the feeble mortality that is inherent in humanity. A story both of unfathomable despair and faith blooming from the hopelessness of the condemned, the text so far leaves its readers with a bitter aftertaste of sadness. However, amidst the dark cloud of grief shines a piercing ray of blissful sunlight; "Incarnatia" is a testament to the fact that bright, young authors are not a thing of the past. In an era where undertaking writing as an occupation is frowned upon, it is relieving to see such a talented young author writing with both the passion and prowess of someone with years of experience in the industry. I am now 32 years old, and have since given up on pursuing my past dream of becoming a fiction writer. This book should serve as a reminder for all young authors that with enough devotion to your craft, there is no stigma or opinion that can stop you from reaching your goals, because it is your pen that paves your path to greatness, not the mouths of others.

For me, what really carried this story was the characters. They are layered and the author managed to make them easy to empathize with. It's easy to understand the emotions of the characters and they feel right for what's happening around them so I quickly started to care about the mc. The style is pretty basic but not mediocre and it's enough to convey what the reader should know in a manner that's pleasant enough to read. What makes this a 4 out of 5 for me is the pacing. First, sometimes the story lingers a bit too long in the more esoteric parts of the mc's journey. The basic writing style just isn't good enough to keep me interested in a chapters long metaphysical journey between life and death where the relevant parts could be condensed into 2 paragraphs... Also, further along, the main story is just taking a bit too long to get started. We're at 300 pages now, a full length novel's worth, and the main character has stagnated for 75% of it. Furthermore, at first the alternate povs were interesting but by the end (with only one chapter per week) I was just frustrated by how little main story we actually get, especially when we get a flashback chapter almost half the time instead.
