It was a good run y'all. At it's peak we hit over 20,000 unique readers and over 2500 followers. As I kid I never thought I'd write anything for fun, much less write224,636 words to post online. This story was an incredible learning experience for me, so thank you all for being the best readers around.

If the inspiration to write ever strikes me again, it'll be posted here. In that case, I hope to see you there.

One of the best action/fantasy stories for me on RR. MC is a badass special ops soldier, world setting is system arriving on earth, starting tutorial and bringing magic, and so on. Action scenes are very well written, the fact that MC is special ops is illustrated and shown well, it's better than some cheesy unrealistic characters in some novels and movies where "soldier" does not actually act like one. In this case, Octavius' mentality and way of thinking show he is pro and not just some musclebound battle-maniac moron. Side-characters have their personalities and are not like robots, that said story mostly focuses on the action/fantasy part and you won't find much drama here, and I while like that, some might not.

The only thing that I found lacking til chapter 26 is the little to no amount of conversations being held in this story. But in chapter 27 the author decided to change his writing style a little and have more dialogues which makes the side characters way more fleshed out and the story a lot smoother.

A decent isekai story.  MC is not super OP.  Just a well trained soldier transported into a difficult and stressful situation.  Story mainly revolves around him integrating into this new world while fending off danger from both magical beasts and his fellow man.  The stories pace is a little slow for my preference but still manageable.

This story is a pleasure to read, and I enjoy the pacing too.
Like it or not, a wide audience within the LitRPG community enjoy a protagonist who is more of a solo player. Resourceful and capable. As is the case with RPG games as well. I shouldn't start on that but, suffice it to say that there are a lot of good RPGs out there that could have been masterworks if they didn't cater for the multiplayer crowd. In my opinion of course.
In any case In Umbra Hasta has a nice slow, yet gratifying buildup. The protagonist isn't simply OP through some lucky RNG skill/class/item drops. He tends to make his own luck by and large by exploring, thinking, experimenting and good old fashioned grinding. While everybody, including the early antogonists, huddle together for safety; He is out there searching for strength. Even making somewhat tough moral choices at times.
He is no angel, but it's not a fashion statement he smears in everybody's faces. He prefers to be good when he can afford it. So there are plenty of times when the reader is forced to consider some moral algebra.
So yeah... This has everything I enjoy in a good RPG.

This is your standard LitRPG where a badass loner surpasses everyone else. The main character lacks in character so all of the loner, non-badass readers can imagine they were him.
Honestly, writers don't seem to understand that a story with only one character isn't that interesting, or at least, most writers lack the skill to make it work. Even one more character main character would solve most of this story's problems.
The battling and leveling is good, as well as the writing style and grammar, but that is the only things this story has going for it.

This story is generally well written if a little slow paced. But my main complaint is that there is a lack of rpg elements. The character gets half his levels in the first 8 chapters then gets the rest in one event later and hasn't leveled again since that point in the story. The character gets 3 skills with his class but never levels them up or gains more skills. There are also numbers in parentheses after every kill he makes that determines how much exp he gets but it’s never explained what they mean. Also see the review about how nothing adds up because he constantly kills things way over his level and doesn't get much exp.

trained body, green eyes, staff master that conveniently can be used on a spear, hmmm is this guy randidly reborn or something lol???
Now jokes aside, this guys really seems a randidly with a less retarded name , and better background ( yes, military background is way cooler) .
the system is  Meh, ironically so much resemblance to randidly, but we don't use it's system (the best one imo, paths and all that) , then again i stopped at chapter 8 , so prob, something are different in the long run, anyway after his class choice i decided to momentarily drop it, after trying it , i decided that at the moment i'd rate stick to just a story with a spear obsessed dude.

A problem I continue to have with this story is that the author seems to be very very bad at math.
Although the grammar isn't bad,, the characters aren't bad, and even the story more or less isn't that bad, it is dragged down by downright shitty litrpg design, and what appears to be complete lack of thought surrounding the progression of everyone who is not the protagonist.
The first problem we have, is the experience system, it is extremely, supremely, ridiculously unforgiving, for instance at one point when he's like level 8 or 9, he kills an opponent that's over level 20, do you think he should get a level for that? maybe two?
Well what actually happens is, he gets 1/10 of the exp needed to progress ot the next level.
If he kills things of the same level as himself, he'd have to basically commit genocide to ever get a level up.
Now our protagonist is a special forces captain, a highly trained elite fighter, and he has to risk his life on a day to day basis fighting things that nobody of his level should rightly be able to fight, just for a fairly slow progression of levels.
Clearly a litrpg system designed so only the best of the best, elites among elites have any sliver of a chance to make it past level 10 within a lifetime, no matter what kind of risks they take to level up faster.
But there's more! Think about it, a level 9 killing a level 20+ with ease? What the hell are the levels for then? (E.g. the level don't seem to be any sort of indication whatsoever about the opponents strength, by this point I wouldn't be surprised to see a level 1 kill a level 30 in a direct confrontation...)
His biggest crime however, is ignoring this horrible system of his entirely when it comes to people who are not the protagonist.
Where I am currently at, at chapter 21, the protagonist has reached level 12, and it is mentioned that another human has managed to reach the same level, mostly with the aid of firearms.
There are a plethora of issues with this idea, first of all is t

Generic so far.  We know nothing about the mc other than that he's aspiring to join THE "delta force" unit....and that he's pretty random and unintelligent in his choices. He doesn't question the world around him but just follows some kind of scripted list of reactions to scripted input.

It just lack too many things.
The text feels poor, lacking details and personality.
No character development, there is only one info about the mc and that is all that defines him.
The first few encounters suffer a lot with decision making and realism.
There is potential and some good ideas are brewing, but It mostly feels raw with a lot of work to be done.
