- darkestnightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0After 100 chapters I can fully recommend this story to all those people who love magic.
This story has everything I love about fantasy, magic, a good magic system, magic and a great story which is not dependent on fights.
I especially like the current arc where the mc goes back to earth - LordspeaksalotRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love the idea of an old man reincarnating first of all, and while the execution can be improved that only comes with experience.
Style: The humour filled narration style that makes eric's thoughts feel natural adds a nice feel to the story, and introseptions about death and freedom sprikled in some chapters although are a bit random they still add charm to the story.
Story: nothing to say here, a good idea executed well.
Grammer: there are some issues iin the beginning chapters with typos and wrong words used but they are seldom enough that it doesn't effect the reading. And near the ending this issue has reduced a lot.
Character: some characters are developed a lot whole others have potential to be developed just as much, the characters of Eric, Laven, Theo and Eleven are developed pretty nicely, would love to see the same happening for Adiel and Delsa.
Is it still not 200 words? Why man, i wrote what i thought. I guess romance lovers will be a bit disappointed as it seems that the main character might remain single throughout the story, though there are 2 pairs of lovers till now, one potential and one confirmed.
Also it seems that the author likes to abruptly introduce scenarios, i wouldn't call it a fault as the story is in first person mostly and in first person narration abruptness is expected, it would feel rushed to most people to be honest, not many are used to this type of writing after all. - Ana87Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story contains the elements of the LitRGP genre. The protagonist, Evan, is a writer with a passion for magic and after he dies he is given a second chance in a world where magic is real, which I think is every fantasy writer's fantasy.
It unfolds between exploration, learning and reflection, allowing the reader to accompany Evan as he grows from childhood to his magical awakening.
Despite he is gifted with superior knowledge and divine blessings, he faces the limitations of his new existence as a baby, bringing some humorous moments and adding a fresh tone to the narrative.
The writer has put a lot of effort into the story. In the first few chapters there are a few small typos but nothing that would prevent a fluid reading,
Overall, it is an entertaining read for fans of fantasy and reincarnation, with a determined protagonist, an intriguing magic system and a world that promises great discoveries. - AthorpseRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I am enjoying the story and the mix of reincarnation, humor, and the magic system. I i like that the MC was an old man that is reincarnated most the time its a young guy but here its a seasoned old fella and an author no less. i am enjoying the world building and the pace. i will definitely be reading through this !
- Squeaking_LynxRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Honestly, this is a total breath of fresh air. Exactly what i was looking for.
I’m a sucker for a good story, and this definitely delivered! It’s a captivating tale with a unique voice, and I was completely immersed in the words. The story itself is a bit slow to start, but the character development is top-notch. This book was such a wild ride! - Lord Turtle the firstRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Light Spoilers Ahead
In the Search of Magic is a lighthearted isekai-LitRPG story that follows a familiar yet enjoyable formula: an average man finds himself transported to a fantasy world filled with magic, monsters, and a powerful system that helps him grow stronger. It’s clear the author is passionate about the genre and has poured effort into crafting this journey.
Main Character:
The protagonist, Eric, is your everyday guy, and his excitement at discovering a world where magic exists feels genuine. His joy is infectious at times, and it helps set a hopeful tone in the early chapters. However, there is one element that feels a bit off—he’s supposed to be a 74-year-old man, but his internal monologue and behavior often come across more like a teenager or someone in their early twenties. This isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker, but it does create some dissonance between the character’s supposed background and how he actually presents himself. A few references to his age-related wisdom or life experience could really help reinforce the uniqueness of having an older protagonist.
Supporting Characters:
At this stage, the supporting cast feels somewhat underdeveloped. Most of them share a similar speech pattern with the main character, which makes it difficult to distinguish their voices or personalities. Giving them more distinct quirks, beliefs, or speaking styles would go a long way in making the group feel more alive and diverse. Every character has potential—it just needs a bit more sharpening to truly stand out.
Plot & World:
The storyline is straightforward, and for fans of isekai adventures, that’s not a bad thing. The MC gets a powerful class, begins leveling up, and learns how to navigate the world. The system element is familiar but functional, and it serves its role in tracking progression and giving the reader that satisfying “numbers go up” feeling. The world itself hasn’t been deeply explored yet, but the foundation is there for something bigger and bette - RanranbollyRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The author very clearly is putting a lot of effort into developing their story with Eric, and it has a lot of heart. I would like to the the pacing slowed just a tiny bit, with a little more description of the surroundings, but there's also a charm to how quickly everything happens. I would absolutely recommend this for someone looking for a fun reincarnation litrpg. It has cultivation, gods, plenty of humor, and I'm intrigued to see where the story goes.
- OneLazyOwlRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5As authors, we all have our paths to take. These roads twist and meander throughout our lives. Our work will invariably end up reflecting our personal journey. There is a lot to be admired in this story by Azuregrassland. I find a sense of adventure, discovery, and introspection woven into this tale. In Search of Magic has what any story worth its salt needs; a passionate writer with a story to tell. There are some rough edges here, but not enough to be anything more than mildly abrasive. Whatever scrapes one might get while reading are worth it to watch the process of growth in an author.
Style—The author’s style here feels very casual. It’s an inviting sort of storytelling. The story draws you in to sit and relax while illustrating itself. It’s conversational, open, and guarded from pretense or overwrought expression. Some aspects border on the juvenile and absurd, but they lend more towards levity than annoyance.
Story—The overall story structure provides a sense of positive direction, but some issues arise as the chapters unfold. The pacing feels chaotic in many instances. The whirlwind of the first few chapters dips into an unnecessary lull near the midpoint. The story catapults forward again, only to draw back to a leisurely stroll through exposition and world-building directly after. These issues are quickly addressed with more time and practice.
Grammar—This aspect of the work needs to be examined. I have encountered several instances of misspelling, incorrect punctuation, and various grammatical inconsistencies. These are not fatal mistakes, but they are flaws that could be easily addressed with a focus on editing and correction.
Character - Eric Evelyn makes for a compelling main character. While touching on the familiar hallmarks of an isekai protagonist, the author makes the character distinct. Eric’s constant drive towards his passion (obsession?) of magic is a refreshing departure from the norm. He seems undaunted even as the strange and ominous pictur
