In Pursuit of Glory

Description
I felt a huge physical force slam into my back. I didn't have any time to think as I rocketed into the wall and felt the drywall dent beneath my body.Eyes wide, I groaned and began to push off the wall when, unceasingly relentless, my assailant backstabbed me with a knife to my gut. I gasped; being stabbed there is no laughing matter. Even today, with all the advances of science, a wound like that can easily be mortal. Most likely would be.I gasped for air with a snarl, funneling the wind into my lungs to help them expand after being pancaked into the wall. Nobody f***ing backstabs me and gets away with it.
If there’s one thing you should know about me, it’s that I love being alive. I love it more than anything else. It’s something only a dead person can understand, and I feel myself forgetting all the time. But there’s a secret to death, and I keep it with me. Always. It’s never permanent, it’s never peaceful, and it’s always filled with regrets. But death, despite all of its shortfalls, can give a short respite from life, like a comfy afternoon nap. Death is Respite. It’s a rest for the weary. And to all those people who wander in death lonesome and regretting their broken lives - always, without fail, cut too short - I beg them to take advantage of it. I tell everyone to take advantage of death, even when I can’t bring myself to do so.

Ciaran travels the world in pursuit of Glories, unfathomable, power-bestowing balls of golden light sequestered in difficult-to-reach places. A fun fantasy romp with a character with an unorthodox narrative voice trying to find his purpose in the world.

- KialandiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style: Absolutely beautiful. The narrator somehow weaves his observations and his vast history into the telling of the story without it feeling hamfisted, without cliches, etc. I was in a constant state of amazement.
Story: Completely unique, as far as I am aware. Approaches reality from a very different direction than most. I cannot wait to see if the begged questions will have answers that are more unique, or less. Either way, a great read.
Grammar: Caerulex has always had difficulty with grammar, specifically in regard to effectively communicating his ideas with words and syntax that makes sense to the reader. This is a problem only so far as it occasionally breaks immersion, since the reader has to reread something in order to understand what the writer is trying to say.
Character: The characters are varied, deep, and complex, as far as I can tell. One of them is shallow-seeming, but there are hints of her complexity underneath.
An amazing story. I hope more people come to read it, and the author continues. (It's on hiatus, I think, as of chapter 13, on 12-10-17) - NequoonRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've read up to chapter 13 now and have to say that it is an absolutely beautiful read.
I very much like the poetic style this story is written in. I got a good feel for both people and places. There are no style breaks or weird sentences.
In these 14 chapters (with the prologue) I believe to have stopped only once because I did not get what the author meant. By the second time I read the sentence I understood what was meant though.
The grammar is flawless I would say. I am neither a native speaker, nor have I studied the English language in any manner, but I believe that any grammatical mistakes, should there be any, are of no concern.
The characters are very well made too. They leave room open for interesting interactions that get used naturally and with ease. None of their behaviours seemed forced to me and they conveyed their own life fantastically.
Now to the story:
The story has an interesting concept with the so called 'glories' which I am not going to explain here. It is original and good at that.
There are two points that I do not like up to this point:
1. That glories have thus far not really been explored all too much, I believe there is still a lot of room open there. Considering that the story is not that long yet I don't think that is a problem in the least, I just crave for more.
2. SPOILER ALERT
I really don't like how a certain person got decapitated. The story built up on a nice vacation and then the ax and no one cares anymore. Complete change in topic. I really hope you have a purpose for some of those scenes, because otherwise they'll just feel like useless fillers that do not contribute to the story to me. We don't need lots of information on really small side characters. Should that (the non-super friend) character turn into a bigger figure for this story, ignore all of what I've said above. If not, this is what I believe you could still improve on.
SPOILER ALERT END
Summed up I really enjoyed the story and would love to see more, big complime
