In Another World with the God of Death (Dropped)

DROPPED.

I feel bad for anyone who read this, but I'm going to have to revise this novel.

After outlining the next arc, I realized it had a Two very big problems:

1- The world got too big too fast.  I was relieved to finally get all the half finished story ideas out, and didn't take time to pace the buildup of the world, so it ended up being a confusing mess--not at all what I wanted.

2- Even more importantly, there is no main character.  This isn't bad in itself, but the two I have hoisted as the mains are actually side characters.  That was one of the hardest parts I was having with drafting the next arc.  Basically, I was having to fix my main characters 40 chapters in, trying to coax them into empatheic characters without actually retconning their backstory.

And if the main characters aren't empathetic after 240 pages, it's safe to say they are failed characters.

More than anything, I was am amateur diving in head-first, and after 70K words, I have a much better feel for what to do.  Basically, don't bite off more than I can chew!

I'm not abandoning this setting or the characters, just starting over and focusing on a single main character.

I decided to make Donny (the kid with the mullet from Jimmy's guild) the main character, and it'll follow him as he weaves his way through the plot that's already set up.

I think Loogman and Eta will make for some great side characters, but not mains.  They're basically gag characters, and that's depressing after spending so much time working out their story.  However, they certainly won't be shallow characters, I have 240 pages of character development and probably that same amount in notes.  I just have to add another character to the mix.

Sorry for wasting your time with this.

I'll leave the story up for another month before sending in a support ticket to see if they can remove it.

Hopefully you give me another shot, but if not that's understandable, too.  I think it'd be far worse to continue a novel that needs invisibly retconned after 40 chapters than start over from scratch.

If you really wanted to finish this, the latest arc was completed, but to avoid confusion, I took the chapters off RR.  It's still up on ScribbleHub under the same name, though.
