The premise of the story is already interesting, the protagonist lives on one world out of many in the starsea and has to contend with cultists and monsters. The magical system is easy to understand and there's hints of other power systems out there.
So far, the story has been divided into two arcs. The first takes place in the protagonists homeworld amid an invasion, as seen in the synopsis. The second is made up of the reaction to said invasion. Both of them are well paced and have good fight scenes, the protagonists don't always make the right decisions but that also leaves them room to grow. The conspiracy aspect with the cultists is also well done, and there's a good enough lack of information about religion to make you wonder what's actually up with it. All in all, according to the author we're about 2/3 of the way through book 1 and I'm looking forward to the rest.

It's too early to give an extremely detailed review, but at chapter 5 this story is very interesting.
The world seems to be expansive with multiple Starisle or planets implying interstellar travel is common. The story initially takes place in a world with a single continent and three nations of interest.
The cultivation so far seems interesting with runes and a unique cultivation aspect. I have always wondered how cultivators expend qi, but that it seems to have no effect in progressing their cultivation. This story addresses that fact! Every time melam is used, you will have to replenish it before you are able to progress in cultivation. This will create an interesting balance of when to use the power and when to not. Kind of like  Atium in Mistborn.
The characters so far are likeable. It is a journey of three youth from different backgrounds all connected by attending the mage academy. They each have their flaws and the author is focusing on actual character development.
I am really looking forward to seeing what becomes of this novel! I enjoyed the authors previous work, Heirs of Sun and Storm, and have great expectations for this one as well!

The story starts off with some interesting action scenes and initial character development. It ends up with a bit of tragedy and a mission continued with heavy hearts and a lesson learned by young warriors (I believe our MC is around 16 don't quote me!) and they find a mysterious man in the middle of nowhere.
This sparks a bit of a shitstorm and a hastened journey home where you meet the real motivators and learn piece by piece of this new threat.
Xerxes proves to be a capable fighter, if a bit inexperienced overall. His talent lends him to a bit of importance in the following months and a ticket to bigger things eventually. This is what really starts the story so bear with the first fifteen or so chapters to get the baseline and understand some of the basics of magic and the politics of the land.
I have been thoroughly enjoying things as the release rate has been fairly rapid and is almost always a double chapter release. Just signed up for the Patreon at the end of chapter 47 to finish a well timed cliffhanger, I think the pricing is a bit high for a five chapter advance but I can't deny the Author some room to breath with chapters not being released faster than he can write the new ones! Good marks all around from me, thank you for the story.

Solid worldbuilding, an intricate magic system, and a compelling story make this worth the read.
I've been an avid follower of Deathblade since his Wuxiaworld translator days up until his recent forays into writing. Trust me when I say the quality is as good as ever and that you won't be disappointed. Solid work on this book. Immanently intriguing and immersive.

Some reasons why I am reccomending Immanent Ascension  :
    - The worldbuilding is on another level. I'm already astonished by the compexity on the first day of release.
    - Characters and their interactions feel realistic for the setting, vividly lifelike
    - Premise is anything but boring, I'm figuratively on the edge of my seat while reading this, while pacing is crisp
    -  No obvious grammatical or syntax errors

A good slow burn, and interesting buildup. The heart of the book however lies with its characters and their interactions.
    Interested where it still goes.
The MC is not quite my favoriet but I think he will develope to stand out a bit more from the poor tenager turned mage.

It's quite refreshing to see the characters themselves bring changes to the story. Many times in other novels they are instead dragged into accidents by weird circumstances.
The magic system seems strange, but I'm sure there is more than meets the eye to it.
Stemming from my experience with Deathblade's previous works I am quite excited to see where this story is going and how it'll develop in the future.

The story so far has really caught my attention. I'm enjoying the setting and world building but feel disjointed at times with the premis. The mages employed, although while new, seem to be extremely weak in comparison to the standard soldiers. The author talks about their superhuman abilities such as speed and strength, i.e. running at ~3miles/min (180mph, or 80m/s). Yet the characters seem to be lacking these quantities in fight scenes. None the less I'm excited to see where the story goes. It's been an enjoyable read so far that has left me intruged for more.

~ The story is original and unique which I like.
~ The concept of the powers is decent, a mix of cultivation and traditional magic. I am not a fan of cultivation stories, hoping that this story doesn't follow the trend they typically do.
~ The MC and his "best" friend are literally some of the shittiest friends around. (Example: The girl that they are friends with and 1 of them is banging, dies. Then a high mystic / archon healer arrives, and neither of the idiots even thought about trying to get her resurrected..... Instead they just leave with the higher level guy, without even a twinge of guilt or remorse. I REALLY hope she comes back as an abomination and kills them for being such shitty people.)
~ The "chapters" are stupidly short, it takes me longer to load them than to actually read them.
~ The MC seems to have this belief that he's some invulnerable hero, pushing anyone away who can help him in combat.
~ Speaking of combat, the MC is supposedly a highly trained combatant.... Who does't seem to understand the first thing about combat, constantly freezing, making stupid choices, and doing the absolute wrong thing.

I feel like I have a solid enough grasp on the story to share my initial opinion.
My biggest issue with the story is that it doesn't put its best foot forward from the off. Several chapters into the book and I haven't yet been presented with a main thrust, a solid character motivation, nor a potential conflict for our main cast to struggle with. It may be harsh, but kicking things off with a (mostly) friendly evening at a bar is a tough launching point for any epic tale. For the lack of a better term, this meandering pace continues for several more chapters afterwards, making for some rather dense reading.
The worldbuilding is generally inserted into the text through simple observations, which is a reasonable way to do things. Though sometimes characters do make statements that feel like they're aimed at the audience more than the people around them. In technical terms, there's nothing to complain about here. The story is formatted perfectly well and I didn't spot any errors. But there also isn't anything flashy about the prose, it's very utilitarian.
I can see how much time and effort has been put into this. I think a focusing of priorities and some future plot developments could turn this into a great entry into the genre.
