Idiot’s Paradox: A LitRPG Apocalyptic Adventure [Book 2 Complete!]

Description
In 365 days only the top-rated 1% will survive.
Logan was trying to kick back with a couple of beers on his dock when the System Integration transformed his world. The planet may as well have turned into a sci-fi movie, giving him powers, levels, and impossible messages. To top it off, the entity known as ‘the System’ has deemed humanity a plague and a threat to the rest of the species on Earth.
On the first day, the entity blows up all the gas-powered cars. On the second day, it vaporizes the planes. Each day, the dissolution of society gets worse, not to mention the mutated monsters intent on killing everything in their path. The System wants Logan to advance and grow, and in 365 days only the top-rated 1% will survive.
Logan could accept what he’s being told at face value and go along with the flow, but he wants to be something else. Despite the System testing him by labelling him an idiot, he’s worked out how to manipulate his new world. He’ll use everything at his disposal: baseball bats with nails, cleavers—even a weed wacker. For Logan is good atkilling the hell out of shit, and when the System threatens his sister and her kids, he’ll show it what an idiot can really do.
About the series: Follow Logan on his quest for power, not for power itself, but to grow strong enough to manipulate a System that’s gotten way too good at manipulating the little guy. Balancing humor with the gruesome reality of his situation, Logan will encounter monsters, undead gestating minions, and a precocious octopus who loves kitten-printed swim trunks way too much.

- BookFanaticRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The writer says he’s new and everything but this is a great piece of fiction. The story and premise is intriguing and everything serves a purpose. It doesn’t just throw action scenes, scenarios or plans out of nowhere. And everything has an overarching link or reason behind it.
I would recommend reading it as it stands out as its own story and unique MC with noticeable flaws and strengths of his own. And the MC’s power set has potential and it’s nice to see his growth and change as the story goes on.
i would say more but that would spoil the story for new readers. - Brianna StormCloudRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of the best books I’ve had the pleasure of reading this past year! The story has kept me intrigued from the get go, the author is constantly surprising me in the direction the story takes ( and believe me that isn’t easy, as I’ve been an avid reader for 40+ years). The characters are robust, and far from flawless. The MC prone to provoke humor, and also serious thought, in that, I consider this an equal to HWFWM and Heretical Fishing, as we all need more laughter in our lives!
My only complaint, is that the chapters don’t come out fast enough. (No offence Taylor, I know you need to sleep, and eat etc) - DWWRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A cut above most stories on RR. Its well written and the characters are fleshing out nicely. The writing is evocative enough that the redshirts/NPC's actions annoyed me with their lack of self preservation probably true to life a la COVID...
Give it a go.
I was genuinely annoyed to hit the last chapter and having to wait for the next release as I was well into it. - DabossUnberogenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Well, I only read a little bit of the story so far, but from what I can tell, it's pretty good. The author has definitely, as they said, had some experience in the genre before. The LitRPG aspects were well done, and the writing was smooth.
The style was fast paced, and could be a little bit rushed at times, but on this site people tend to write very short paragraphs, which is not in my personal preference, but I am not going to begrudge this book for that.
The story was quite engaging and well written, and it blended well with the RPG aspects. Rather than just being a vehicle for mindless progression, everything was well fleshed out. Quite good work on this front. The fact that the System is a being in and of itself, rather than just being some ephemeral law of nature is an interesting concept, and the fact that the main character is being directed by it is interesting as well.
The grammar was well done, and I did not detect any mistakes. either it was perfectly edited, or there were so few that I missed them.
The characters are a little bit basic, but that's fine in my book. I much rather prefer a consistent and somewhat boring character to some contrived character who is not in the least realistic, as some stories are wont to do.
Quite a good read, and I will definitively be following it as it progresses. - Dan NgoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This one had me reading without being able to stop. Effort was put into character development, and background is filled in gradual manner.
The only critique I have is that the internal monologue is sometimes too long and inconsequential. I find myself reading two entire paragraphs sometimes that can be summarized into a single sentence. To be fair, most stories are written like that, but I still don't enjoy having to skip whole paragraphs, and still not miss any consequential details. I guess it's just missing an editor 🤷🏿 - LesendeTaubeRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I think this story is great for a few reasons. Firstly the MC is (imo) well written, likeable and has decent character development. Then the story progresses quickly but without it being ridiculous, for example the MC quickly grows to be one of the most powerful humans on earth due to him being the MC and the luck that comes with it, but he‘s still trumped by others, presumably those, who use less ethical methods of levelling (genocide). Additionally the MC isn‘t the only character with any substance to them; there are many other characters (some more important, some less so) that also feel like they‘re more than just plot devices.
Also Ernie. - vennoRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I’m really enjoying this story. The main character has no idea about anything, which is great. It always bugs me when the MC somehow gets everything. Still find it funny that he thinks S grade is bad.
Overall things are well written, story seems to flow well. It’s interesting, and honestly that’s frustrating cause I want to know what happens.
I’ll keep following this eagerly. - VolumenRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5A little message of encouragement for the author. English is not my first language, so sorry for the mistakes.
The story is moving along at the right speed. The MC is evolving well mentally and physically, hopefully he'll remain stable on the path to greatness. The story is coming together well at the moment.
I hope that the sequel will be just as good. - CoachC48Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5A great mix of action and humor mixed with death and destruction. The humor is smart and drives the story rather just being there as an afterthought. While the pace is low and I am aching to get to more of the wider world and bigger picture, the story flows well and is not tedious to read. Seriously the MC’S familiar is simply a brilliant construct.
- dustreaperRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Wow i always have trouble being grabbed by a story and this one was no different but. It did't take long and i am totally hooked now. It's always nice to see a story with characters i care about and not to stupid just overwhelmed at the stat and well logan keeps being a idiot but it's fine.
Where i am at in the story Logan get's a massive power up i am excited to see what he is going to need to use it on.
