Description
PAUSED INDEFINITELY/CANCELED
A mage sacrifices his life to fend off a catastrophe that threatens to devour his home. When given the chance to reincarnate, he rebels against fate in a bid to save his family.
The rebirth goes awry, and his soul is damaged and lost in time. It is the Renaissance Era now, a world dominated by the Inquisition. Leonardo tries to make the best out of his magic while avoiding the eyes of the witch hunters.
A slumbering immortal awakes deep in the Himalayas, sowing lethal nightmares across the mortal realms. Millions perish throughout India and China in mere hours, even as national armies struggle fruitlessly to contain its hunger.
Ancient paragons of magic descend from isolation, and shapeshifter beasts rise up to defend their tribal courts, all in vain. Werewolves and vampires put their eternal conflicts aside and unite, not in an effort to win — but to live.
Muchen Feng is an old mage caught up in an aftershock of the creature’s awakening. Despite his best efforts, he fails to hold on to what he cherishes most. Unwilling to resign to his fate, Muchen seeks a path to the past, and tries to reincarnate. Born anew, he shall rewrite all wrongs and erase his regret at the source.
Alas, his plan goes awry and the ritual is interrupted just as success is within reach. His soul is nearly torn asunder, and he forfeits control over his own fate. Adrift in time and on the brink of collapse, he finds refuge in the Dream realms, but that shelter is far from flawless. Unable to halt his soul’s decay, he resigns himself to chance.
Centuries earlier, in the savage Maltese Archipelago, a sickly infant is abandoned at the Valetta port. Taking pity on the dying boy, a kind soul takes him to a monastery. That pity however is misplaced, for within that frail body linger the last embers of a drifter from the future.

Taking a unique spin on both the fantasy and science fiction genres, Ichor proves itself to be an intriguing action-packed adventure taking place in an intricate world. Encompassing an interesting karma-based system, with tier-like magic and an intricately developed world one can see the author plans to do great things with this fiction and has set the stage for world-changing events to unfurl. Feng proves themselves to be a fascinating, well-developed character with interesting emotional traits. Personally, I vastly prefer the modern day of this fiction however the portions with Leonardo are shaping up and have great potential. The author does a good job of worldbuilding yet follows a path very similar to that of Supreme Magus which provides an interesting read.
Overall the story is most certainly worth your time and offers an erudite spin on the genre.
Style Score:
With stretchy descriptions and some dubiousness, this is definitely the author's weak point. Adapting more of a show don't tell attitude will allow the author to reach a more definite and refined approach helping the story of Feng prosper.
Story Score:
Futuristic vampires, magic, nuclear core explosions and reincarnation! This is the pinnacle of science fiction and while somewhat familiar, does prove to make a fascinating read! Certain scenes with Leonardo, Annabelle, Yuki etc I found were not really needed, especially vivid ones yet they do drive aspects of the plot.
Grammar Score:
With flawless grammar, the author is very professional from this standpoint.
Character Score:
Leonardo and Yuki prove to make an interesting emotional development. Feng also proves to be a well-developed character. Reminds me of a mix of the Wheel of time and Supreme Magus yet is a little too similar to them. Overall great job writing characters and while the dialogue is rough in the beginning the story does take a good course.
