Description
The Great Hero is dead. The Playerbase is torn.
After a disastrous raid on the Gods—the final bosses of this game-like otherworld—the Players fractured. In the West, the Heavenly Union seeks peace, uniting adventurer guilds with the world's native inhabitants. In the East, the militant Carnifex Guild rules with an iron fist, enslaving NPCs and exploiting them in a ruthless quest to escape the game.
Years later, a new Level 1 Player awakens in a Carnifex slave camp. He has no memories, no past, and no name—only pain, forced labor, and humiliation. But when a chance at freedom appears, he seizes it.
Torn between the empathy he’s gained as an NPC and the power he holds as a Player, he makes a vow: to dismantle Carnifex, unite Players and NPCs, and challenge the Gods once more.
Making friends, looting gear and leveling up are all par for the course for a latecomer hero. But hey, it's better for the hero to show up late than never, right?

- rarro1337Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0From the first episode, I was hooked. The story kicks off with a bang as our protagonist wakes up in a strange world with no memory and finds themselves enslaved to a powerful figure called the Baron. But here's the twist – this isn't your average fantasy realm. It's a world where people from another reality are stuck after completing a video game. Talk about mind-blowing!
What really keeps me coming back for more is the character development. Watching the protagonist grow and evolve with each new episode is incredibly satisfying. And the world-building is on point – every detail feels meticulously crafted, drawing you deeper into the story.
But the best part? This series is ongoing, which means there's always something new to look forward to. With each new installment, the plot thickens, the stakes get higher, and the excitement levels skyrocket. It's like unwrapping a present every time a new episode drops – you never know what surprises await!
So, if you're on the hunt for a webseries that'll keep you on the edge of your seat and begging for more, look no further than 'I Woke Up In Another World As A Slave.' Trust me, you won't be disappointed! - Amanol95Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Into the first chapters and already can tell that it is gonna be amazing! The story is build in a very intriguing way. I really love the detailed description of each character. The picture I got in my head off the presented characters so far is very clear. And on top of that, it matches the amazing illustrations which accompany the story, in a perfect manner. I really enjoy the way information about the world and the characters is given to the audience. We don't get to know more than the main character knows and our knowledge is growing with what he is expiriencing.
And the expiriencing part comes across perfectly. Not only because of the writing style which is detailed enough but not overloaded. But also because of the fact that we get little insides about the intrusive thoughts that are going on in our hero's head. That I really got the feeling of expiriencing everything first hand myself and could exactly understand how it probably feels like to be in the situation in which the main character is.
I absolutely recommend it to everyone. Refreshing, creative and as I said in the beginning very intriguing piece of work.
Keep up the great work guys and thank you for the incredible upload routine!! I am sure we all appreciate it.
Cheers - Blankii00Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I love his work as a new upcoming Artist
there is a lot of potential on this website but this guy is a gem I will keep in my mind.
I hope he will keep his drive and grow! I would love to see some bigger projects of this guy poping of on my page - ExtrovrtRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0While the story follows you along a storyline in a way you can understand and get into it, all the artwork also looks like someone read the story and drew out of the writers head. I’m not good at describing reads but you’ll understand if you do actually read.
- KulturkaiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The beginning is looking very promising. I really Like the illustrations in this one, especially the First Illustration of the Gate looks very fresh, i am excited to read the ongoing Story. I think the writing is compelling and will Keep me interested in the story. Keep Up the great work
- NastiiuuRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been waiting for this story to unfold and to be published for over 2 years now. The author shared the beginnings of this world with me over coffee and tea, and since then I've been invested and exited to see how far this story will go.
Now, after almost two years, he and his illustrator have been working hard to make it a reality. Both with wonderful written words and a vast imagination for the characters and the world building and progression, and with wonderful art to successfully support the written world and to elevate the experience.
The chapters so far do a wonderful job to introduce you to the main character and into the atmosphere you can expect to be embraced with if you decide to keep on reading. The main character is very charming, and you already see the potential for further character development, which makes it even more exciting to experience the whole story as it unfolds and grows.
I am looking forward to every single new chapter that will come out now and in the future. I can't wait to see both the author, artist and the story grow with every new installment and to support them from now on!!! - ACfabiDCRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Usually, im not a big reader. But since the first chapter, this story kept me interested in its outcome.
Its well written and the illustrations fit perfectly to the scene that is displayed at the time.
I cant wait to read the upcoming chapters and find out were the story will take us.
If you look for a story including cool charackters, an interesting and fascinating world, and very nice illustrations, then this is a story you will like. - niikographyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Very interesting story concept!
As an avid enjoyer of RPG games I am interested in what direction Igi will take the story and incorporate the commonly known RPG elements. The idea of combining a game-like environment with written fiction definitely isn't something new, but I already feel like Igi has a whole new vision for this take and I am excited for this fresh breath of air.
The writing style doesn't leave your imagination hanging for sure, very descriptive but no unnecessary words used. Just the first three chapters got me locked in yearning for more to read. Love the illustrations as well, hope to see more of those as I deem the visual style unique and very pleasing to the eye imo.
Character score is only at 3,5 stars, cause we haven't seen a lot from the characters yet - I'll definitely revisit my review later down the road!
Same goes for the story score, I ranked it at 3,5, because there is not a lot to go from YET. I simply think it has a lot of potential to turn out amazing.
I'm definitely keeping an eye on this, maybe Igi will be my new favourite fantasy author (: - StormblesssedRoyal Road★★★ 3.0The concept behind the story is interesting and initially my hopes were high. However the MC just remained too passive for too long.
Due to the MCs unique start I get him starting off like this. But this started to drag very quickly and I very quickly got over his constant state of confusion. I just wish the MC took some more active decisions earlier.
Starting off as a slave makes this difficult, but it certainly reminded me why imprisonment arcs are typically so unpopular when they happen on this side. - animusrienRoyal Road★★ 1.5Convoluted, very confusing and all over the place. The premise is great although not unique, but after 40 chapters I have no idea what is going on, where it wants to go, or what has happened. The art in the chapters does not help. Not to mention, there's German chapters in chunks between the English. I started this seeing there's only good reviews, but they are all reviews at the first few chapters so I don't think this is representative of the story so far. My review is at chapter 40. I would say better to check it out when it's got more, but I had a hard time getting through just this part.
