Description
Reborn to Rescue a Video Game World! After dying during a worldwide pandemic, ordinary college student Asteria was given a fresh start in the world of a popular video game. Her mission: to protect mankind from a forgotten danger. However, shouldn’t the original main character of “Tales of Vesterland” be given his chance to shine? Now, armed with ALL the cheats, she’s decided to let the hero do his thing while she saves the last boss and gets rid of the real villain who’s been hiding behind the scenes. Join this OP adventurer in her hilarious candy-fueled quest to befriend the hero, save the villains, and have fun!
It's a slightly risque slice-of-life comedy set in a world of technology and magic.
Also starring: Sariel. He thinks he's hot stuff because he has it all - looks, superhuman abilities, and a great fashion sense. Too bad that the process that gave him superpowers has a secret side effect...
Note: Multiple POV characters (male and female)
Cover: Warm Tail

- wyavern13Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0A whirlwind adventure with an unlikely hero and lovable characters. Now I am just waiting for the sequel. Love the story and the rollercoaster of emotions. I highly recommend this book to any that like a good ol fashioned isakai.
This is the filler that I use to fill the word count that must be done to fill the word count up so I can post because of a need for word count of a minimum amount. - BookofStrangeThingsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've been reading this story since a little after it started being posted and I've felt so much joy every time I see an update. Asteria's story is over, and it felt like it was something special because of what it was. It was a period of relief from the harsh day-to-day of Covid life.
This story was not filled with grammar errors like so much of what I read. It has fun little twists that don't kill you at the end of every chapter because of cliff-hangers. It has quirky characters in a unique little world and seeing them have their happy ends is honestly amazing. - Cori123Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0A really nice storr,. Its round and has a fitting ending, even if i wish there had been more. What I can say is, that if you dont like it after 5 chapters let it go. Its consistent whith its stile and if really heavy plotarmor and sometime shallow chatacters bother you, i can see how it is not the storry for you. The storry lives from its comedy, savety that they will be happy together and her fun go-get-it personality. Its not a lord or the rings, or Eragon and more a Harry Potter and ( I am sorry i know it has a bad Reputation but i read the books and liked them well enought) Twilight.
Just go with the flow and enjoy. I certanly did. A great escape from the depressning reality the news Show us.
The author is clever in its use of POV and it has a grat, sometimes a bit fast pacing. And while it has a lot of steriotypical things, it also is surprising and inventive it its use. Defenetly not borin.
The male lead is OP and reaaaaaally into her. Like pretty obsessed but over all a Green flag. Because she really has him under her thumb. She can be a bit Manipulation but she is kind and wants the best for people. - Entitled InfracaninophileRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This, this.... How can I say? It was unexpected, fresh? Anyway, it's very entertaining, cheeky, well, simply wonderful! Congrats and kudos to Lin Meili here.
Aha, fellow potential readers, yes yes, this is the good stuff. No ideas what happened with the overall score, but, anyway, I can only tell you: it's grossly underrated.
Ah, and, one hundred million, pffff, this is nothing, 🤑 - MDWRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A likeable MC. Humor. Tropes. Memes. What is not to love about this story? I will Save the Villain is a must read.
Lin Meili brings a fresh perspective to the portal fantasy genre. The MC is not here to save the world. Not directly. There's no end boss to be beaten up by her specifically.
At first, who is the eponymous villain she'll save is nebulous. But as the plot develops, [NO SPOILERS]. You need to check and see.
The worldbuilding is divorced from the usual medieval fantasy world. It reminds me of Final Fantasy VII, with all the nostalgia it evoked.
The characters are well rounded. Yes, there's stereotypes peppered here and there, but it only adds to them without making them flat.
The MC has a personality, is girly enough without being a psycho, and is enjoyable to watch.
I will Save the Villain gets top marks from me. This is not a review swap. First because I don't do review swaps, and two Lin is too busy to review my crap.
So, why are you still reading this review? The chapters are up there.
Shoo. Go.
Are you still here? Fine.
The POV switches are done with purpose and add freshness to the storytelling. I usually dislike switching the POV to a mook I don't care about but here it's done to further the story or to accent this or that element that would be out of place in the MC's perspective. - OwlGirlRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Style:
I like the style of the story it is very lighthearted and funny. It has made me laugh out loud numerous times. I would not read it if you expected something serious and all the plot points to be rounded out, but if you want a funny OP girl character in another world finding her dream guy this story style is the one for you.
Grammar:
I did not find any major grammar errors that detracted from my reading experience, so it is five stars for me. I, myself make many grammatical errors so I am not going to judge others as harshly especially on the little stuff. I would only take stars off if a wrong word interrupted my reading.
Story Score:
There are no big info dumps, very good. Like I said before, very funny. It is not a particularly unique genre, but I have never encountered this universe before. I am pretty sure the author created the background for this story, and it is amazing! I love how much thought they put into it, and it shows even though the characters are OP, the actual background and environment they are in doesn’t change and seems reasonably plausible in terms of a fantasy world.
Characters:
I love the main character. She is funny, unique and I like her enough that I can get in her shoes/ the author makes her likable. Most characters are pretty well rounded, as in you would know what their response would be to the situations they encounter and there is no major character inconsistencies. The only thing I would say is that originally, I thought the main character rounded out her OPness with her lack of fighting power but to me she kind of became too OP in the extras. - WuxtorRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is pretty light hearted and full of comedy. Always amuses me, this mcs antics. When I started reading, I thought the story was gonna be otome like but author betrayed my expectation and I like that. I also enjoyed the art especially made with Vroid ones. I like how author casually recommended two smuts to the readers
- denkkarRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very entertaining read so far. There's some truly outrageous comedy in there that makes it more than worth it. The tone is generally lighthearted. The start however, is rather darker, which I feel fits a bit poorly with the rest (it was when I read it, it has since been edited).
MC is overpowered only in potential and blessings. Her combat rating is not high. Quite the opposite. It's an odd setup, but it makes her quest to save the world all the more interesting. - ir_faneRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I didn't expect to finish reading this in one go. I was just relaxing after tax-day. But the slice-of-life story pulled me in and several hours later I was reading the last chapter. I mean, shortly after starting I figured they were inspired heavily by the final fantasy 7 story, but everyone had a personality. Also no one was locked into being right or wrong all the time. I really laughed at the scene where Asteria asks if they think she's an idiot. Both at what she picked up on and what she missed in other chapters.
- kp8080Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I really enjoyed this whole adventure, including the after-story. Enough that I've read it twice this year. It is an easy read, with a lot of fluff and comedy. It has some complex parts, like the use of multiple points of view, but it's all kept light and fluffy. It's a refreshing break from the complex drama, constant monster fights, and level grinding I've found in many other GameLit stories.
