- wakadooRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Short but powerful.
I am in awe of the authors ability to make me care so much in so little time. I think this is worth a read for anyone as it is an exemplary display of simple, skillful writing. I have never read something with less than 10 chapters published on this site and these few pages have me regretting it all. - AzphelionRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A beautifully written short story that plays with your heartstrings like a musician. The usage of tropes to help fill in the backstory of this scene is a great addition, as it brings attention away from the story and more towards the emotions the story is conveying. 10/10, a must read.
- nevermorecallsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I can't say that I've seen much work that took such a strong and heartfelt look into a supervillain's POV.
While a very short tale, there was so much emotion put into it. I felt connected to the villain and left me wanting more. This was truly a fascinating tale! - pewpewcachooRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This was very well written and very enjoyable, even though it hurt my heart very much. The writing is great, the grammar is good and the short story is awesome. Honestly this was very well done. I hope you come back and write some more like this. Maybe just flesh out this story and give us more?
- AutonymosRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0One of the Best Short Stories I have ever Seen. It was good, I do not know how to keep this going for the fifty required but I'll try.
It held a lot of emotion and character for such a short piece and I love what it did with a lot of tropes to enhance the story.
That should be enough, now go read it. - IndigoDawnRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Take a few minutes to take this in. You won't be disapointed.
- darkfirehunterRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A sad one shot that made me feel. Very well written, thank you for posting this here for us to enjoy.
- Chaos_is_HarmonyRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The setting should be wildly implausible. The purple flames should be terribly gaudy. The idea of a city sympathizing with and forgiving the supervillain should be laughable. The dramatic, teary language should be groan-inducing.
BUT, and this is a very important but, the presentation is impeccable, so much so, that I completely forgot about all the complaints I thought I should have.
I can't say for sure what the author's secret is, yet I suspect it has something to do with the writing style itself. This honestly made me feel similar to how I felt reading The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. Everything about the story should make it a tired trope collection, and yet it's something more than that.
In short, this was a fantastic read. - RznRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5It begins a bit roughly, establishing the perspective takes time, but it is all a tool to lead towards a better set up for the ending. It wouldn't have hurt to have a little more exposition to ground the setting and some of the dynamics better - yet the author seems to be clearly have intentionally done this for a more impactful ending. As someone who is not well-versed in American super-hero mythos, it did not work well on me, but I got to admit the writing towards such a goal was great. My only main issue come from the rough edges and the disorienting beginning.
- quillfulRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0It's got a fair share of tropes and that sort of thing, but in a classic way that gives me a lot of nostalgia. I loved the MC's entrance and the fact that the city allowed her to say a few words too. It says a lot about the character of people/humanity, which the story centers on through the lens of heroes and villains, a couple in love, and the survivors and the fallen. Short and (bitter)sweet and fantastic to read!
