I Could Have Just Walked Away

First attempt at writing anything longer than a grocery list since essays in school.  I plan on having the story go between the present and the past as the MC remembers how he came to be who he is (origin etc), as the story progresses.

I going to try my hand at contemporary fanstasy, so think myths and legends, magic and monsters existing hidden (more or less) from the modern world.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and obviously be gentle.
