What the author manages here is pretty amazing. Is a slice of life that is:
-funny but not crakish
-wholesome but not shojou
-edgy but not grimdark
Is this incredible balancing act that manages to make the slice of life fun without getting monotonous. You just had a scene so sweet your teeth will rot? here you have the MC breaking someone's fingers. Normally these kinds of transitions feel jarring, but the Author manages the MC's personality so well that at no point did I feel he was being OOC
Apart from that, this is the only story in which an old woman trading insults with a delinquent teenager manages to be so wholesome

now i understand that a lot of people see the word "Harem" and say F-THAT, and i get it. but this is a genuinely well written story. the MC is a somewhat realistic personality; the characters aren't just 2d cutouts of popular tropes. the "protagonist" well i'll you decide on that....anyways i highly recommend giving this a try.

This is the first story of this type I have read - picked it as a break from the usual hack and slash thinking I might last a couple of chapters... boy was I wrong!
Really great writing style and pace - you always feel part of the story and it moves along at a comfortable pace that never feels rushed or bogged down.
In the nicest possible way, I was half expecting to feel a bit of ick or end up reading some kind of objectifying horndogging of school age girls, but I have to say the characters and their interactions are really well written and fleshed out, with hardly even a flicker of anything more than PG.
Invested in the story and can't wait to see how it goes!

The writing is well done. The story is a fun read even for people unfamiliar with the visual novel game setting. Perhaps most important given the harem setting, the MC is a pretty decent person and not a total creeper.

I love stories that are told from the "Villain" perspective. This has been true ever sense I read "The True Story of the Big Bad Wolf" as a kid.While villain insert stories might be a rather common trope these days, I feel that it is also a trope that is hard to do really well. 90% of the time those stories completely throw out the Villain element entirely to the point that only the person who inserted into the villain character even thinks of the character as a villain.This story I feel holds enough of the original villain character true that it doesn't feel like they are simply being white washed. Instead, the combined personality of the old life and the new life gives the villain a new perspective and make him change without completely giving up on character. Reiji is still a violent young man who is more than willing to punch out those that piss him off, but he just became a little less self centered. This lets us see the story from his point of view and personifies the old adage "everyone is a hero in their own story."
