- OriiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0"Hunters of Kitsune" is an engaging and well-crafted narrative that delves into a rich world filled with complex characters, intriguing mysteries, and gripping conflicts. The story follows the adventures of Eri, Saran, and Kaiser as they navigate a world filled with political intrigue, ancient powers, and personal demons.
The author demonstrates a commendable ability to weave a compelling narrative. The writing style is immersive, allowing readers to vividly visualize the settings and empathize with the characters. The dialogue feels authentic and serves to convey the dynamics between the characters. However, at times, smoother transitions could be employed to ensure a seamless flow between scenes.
The grammar is consistently strong, contributing to a polished and professional reading experience. Well-structured sentences and minimal grammatical errors allow the reader to remain fully engaged in the story.
The narrative of "Hunters of Kitsune" is a standout feature. The story's foundation is built on a captivating blend of action, suspense, and character-driven drama. The incorporation of intriguing elements such as kitsune folklore and mystical powers adds depth to the world. The pacing is well-managed, keeping the reader invested in the unfolding events. Furthermore, the exploration of themes like loyalty, betrayal, and redemption adds emotional resonance to the story.
The characters in "Hunters of Kitsune" are multi-dimensional and compelling. Eri, Saran, and Kaiser are each distinct in their personalities, motivations, and struggles. The development of their relationships, particularly the evolving dynamics between Eri and Saran, provides a strong emotional core to the narrative. Additionally, the introduction of supporting characters, like Shelby and Orion, adds depth to the ensemble cast.
The world of "Hunters of Kitsune" is richly detailed and immersive. The author does an excellent job of integrating elements of Japanese folklore and mythology into the narra - T.A.L DeasonRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story follows the MC kaisen who is a jubilee as he is thrust into a new country and being pursued by hunters. The story is really good in the first five chapters and the author stated that they are going back and doing some editing. However I enjoyed what I read. I would love some more detailed background on the jubilees and hunters, and this may come later in the book but the premise is very exciting.
characters- you are pretty much thrust right into the action in chapter 1 and don’t get a lot of background on the characters early. With that being said they are well built and you can empathize with the main character kaizen. However I would say that Eri starts to steal the show as soon as she is introduced.
grammar- my biggest complaint and the author does address that they are doin some editing to fix. There are some issues but they don’t take away from the overall story.
the style is familiar but well done. High fantasy with some magic thrown in. The world seems to be big and is being well built by the author.
overall for fans of fantasy this should be a good read, check it out! - DabossUnberogenRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5The story starts out in the thick of the action, which was a little jarring, but I quickly got used to it. The world building was quite good, with the background of the world being instantly established. The grammar and other stylistic mechanics were well done, and it was perfectly comprehensible the entire time. All in all, a job well done, but there is potential for a bit more exposition.
- unfadableRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Overall:
There is still some work to do to make the novel less ‘messy’, but besides that it is a very fun read. So in my opinion it is worth the read!
Style:
For the most part it is a very smooth and enjoyable read. However, it was sometimes difficult to read sentences correctly first try, making me have to go back to read it again, which makes the read a little less immersive unfortunately. I would also say that some word use doesn’t really fit the intention. The author does do a really good job at descriptive writing, which makes it easy to visualise the story that is being told.
Grammar:
There were a few small mistakes in the writing, but nothing that made the read less enjoyable. Overall, it is of good quality in terms of spelling and punctuation.
Story:
The pacing of the story feels right. It takes the time to set the stage for world building while also keeping up a good pace. The concept of the story is interesting, and seeing how the plot is developing as I am reading, I am interested how it will unfold further.
Character:
The characters are introduced in a very natural way, which I really liked. The author does a good job at depicting the personalities of the characters, which are all personalities which cause for a good read, making it easier to relate to them. - Frosty I. FrostRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0It's a fun read indeed. Overall, the paragraphs need work. As well as spacing, punctuations etc. etc. Spellchecking/Proofreading AI's should do the trick.
Style:
It is definitely enjoyable but needs work. Paragraphs and spacing issues make things harder for us readers. Along with those, punctuations need some work. If those are fixed, this would be at least twice as good, maybe more. On the plus side, the author does a really good job at descriptive writing tho.
Grammar:
The author is no Shakespeare but which one of us is? Stories like this don't need advanced grammar and it's still enjoyable with the words the author decided to use. Besides, they do the job well. Advanced or not, if they aren't repeating all the time and they explain something well, they're good. In this case, they certainly are doing the job.
Story:
The overall pacing isn't half bad and it goes smoothly as it progresses. It gets better after the first chapters but again, bad spacing and paragraphs harm the enjoyment we get from the story.
Characters:
The characters are introduced quite well and their descriptions are good. Easy to relate to, easy to imagine how they look like, easy to understand. - Ant TheWonRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0OVERALL: The bones of a good story are there, just needs some revisions and more meat packed on this bad boy. Would recommend to anyone who loves a good underdog, rebellion epic.
STORY: The story's logic is easy to follow and the action is fun to read. The lack of long description fluff greatly lends itself to the story's progression. Would love to see the world and background of the war built out more with the help of its vivid and likable characters.
STYLE: The author's voice is confident and full of flair, if a little rough around the edges. Unlike other, less-polished stories, the sentence structure is solid and states everything with confidence. The powers that are described are a joy to read and imagine. Hope to see more of the story with these kinds of descriptions, as well as a refining of overall sentence structure, a more critical eye for picking out important details to describe, and greater precision of adverbs used for the dialogue words (if they are even needed at all).
GRAMMAR: Typos are noticeable, but don't detract from the story too much. In my opinion, the author's tendency to break apart sentence ideas (i.e. starting off the second sentence of a whole thought or action with a present participle) jars the pacing a bit, but if the author decides to make it a consistent, stylistic touch that problem should be solved.
CHARACTERS: The characters, while suffering a bit from cliche dialogue, are the soul of this story. I really enjoyed the dynamic between a certain trio in the main, younger cast. With a little more creativity in showing character through action, and with more investment in showcasing more dimensions of personality, these characters would be even better. - L.K. WinturRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5Just finished chapter five and I have to say the writing definitely improves as the story progresses. I especially liked the boat fight. But the writing clearly still needs some polish, and things like getting someone's sex wrong can really throw the reader for a loop. Especially considering the amount of characters this book introduces.
Besides the mistakes here and there, there is actually a pretty interesting story developing. We don't get big exposition dumps which is nice, but at times I feel myself wanting to understand things a bit better. I think this may be to the authors credit, in that the world they have created is complex and interesting. But it does lack a bit of exposition that I feel could be added carefully to help flesh out the characters and world.
This is especially apparent when trying to understand characters personality and motivations. Because I don't know why Kaiser is part of the army he is, or his motivations for joining, I feel I'm missing an important part of his backstory.
I don't know how he truly feels about his comrades, so when tragedy strikes, it's hard to tell how it affects him. He seems to care about the generals who he served under, but is distrustful of another. And we're never given any reason, even if his distrust is later proven to be justified.
All in all, while there is room for improvement (like all stories, including mine) there is actually a pretty cool story here. Fate bringing this random cast together as the enemy plots and schemes their downfall is always a fun start.
As far as the Kitsune, they seem to have a much more fun appeal going for them. They have stolen the show here in the later chapters and I hope we get to see Kaiser become of use to them as the story continues.
Story:
Giving this a high rating because beyond all my personal opinions, the story so far is certainly appealing. A betrayed soldier who is saved by the other side and becomes hunted just like they are. Interesting powers, political dynamics, - plsigiveuponthinkingRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I recently read until chapter 5 of Hunters Of Kitsune and I must say that my overall impression is rather lukewarm. While it had its moments, the book failed to fully captivate me for various reasons.
First and foremost, the writing style felt lacking in depth and creativity. The prose often came across as bland and staightforward, lacking the vibrant language that I personally enjoy in a book. It left me longing for a more engaging and imaginative narrative that could have elevated the story.
Furthermore, the character development felt somewhat underwhelming. The main characters lacked complexity and depth, making it difficult for me to form a strong emotional connection with them. I wanted people that not only be 'rude', or 'optimistic all the time', I really wanted to get into the meat of the characters, they felt just like....characters. That's it.
Despite these shortcomings, I must acknowledge that the book did have a few redeeming qualities. The author's descriptive abilities occasionally shone through, painting vivid scenes that helped me visualize certain settings. Additionally, the underlying plot held promise and had the potential to be truly captivating if it had been fully realized.
In conclusion, Hunters Of Kitsune left me feeling somewhat disappointed. While it had glimpses of potential, the overall execution fell short of my expectations.
( i used grammarly to edit this review lol too lazy to use punctuation )
