- TheFredofFredsRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've enjoyed everything I've seen so far. Liam's tale has taken a few turns I didn't expect and keeps me on my feet. I've also enjoyed the characters and settings. And lastly the tech, the author has sited actual articles for some of the devices, while fantastical they have some footing in reality. If you're looking for a nontraditional Hero story, this is for you.
- WhatAreBooksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I started reading this a few days ago and got through the whole thing in addition to some advance chapters. I'm a slow reader so this is a crazy pace for me. that should say something about the quality of this story. It really is delightful—that is the single word that best describes it.
There were a number of times where I just had this huge, smile on my face because the story has a humor and a pace to his writing that's just a pleasure to read.
The story maintains this atmosphere of lightness and levity despite its topics that I think is impressive. To me, an atmospheric story is something that's pretty hard to achieve. It's obvious to me that there are some heavier themes at times, but the story always made me feel good to read. - KnorthRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I was able to get through nearly all chapters in a realitity short period of time because I was eager to keep reading. Story keeps you involved and on your toes. I love how the foreshadowing is done. No grammatical error, good writing style.
one of the best stories out there.
thank you! - MSL2WRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A good detective story with a super power twist. I am most of the way through the book and enjoying where the story is taking me. Good characher development. Good story line. A couple funny, but true references about life in Iowa. Looking forward to reading the rest of the book.
- RivRav_q12Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0At time of review I have read upto chapter 66. This was such an intising read that I couldnt stop. To avoid spoilers I wont go into anything too detailed but the fights are fast moving so they dont feel too boring or flowery. The main plot is good and flows naturally with good build up/suspence and pay off.
Overall a very good story that I would recomend anyone who likes hero/superpower fictions to - Almost a werewolfRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I've enjoyed the story so far. Fights are great, in that brains are actually used. Something I've seen missing with other super hero stories with people who create tech.
Each of the characters have their own feel which is appreciated. Cant wait to see what H-Bar says next.
The writing is crisp. 20 chapters in and I've only seen one error. Which someone else pointed out and was quickly fixed.
My only issue so far is the pacing at the start of the story is a little slow. I understand there is background to cover, but maybe try to do that a little faster. - Shadow74Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Really enjoyed my time reading this mystery. Super heroes are usually outside the box for me. But with the unique character developement and story line I have greatly enjoyed this story.
I really like this author's writing style.
I often found myself smiling about what is happening. Some of the characters remind me of my family members or at least things they might say.
I especially like Liam.
Thanks for a great read! - InferiRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0I did.
Style 5/5
This story has some of the feel of Drew Hayes's Super Powereds in that it makes a super-powered world feel almost normal. Many people tend to liken such worlds to Worm by Wildbow but where worm was dystopian and nearly unrealistically dark at times, Hunt-and-Heroes has spun a mystery story that keeps its own charm.
More importantly, this one is a page-turner. I could go into literary detail about why that is the case but basically I like the author's writing. They definitely have an unhealthy love for fragments but they get the point across painlessly.
Story 4/5
The story so far has been a slow-burn mystery thriller with hints and clues about what's really happening pulling readers sometimes towards one assumption almost conspicuously before dropping new hints that threw such assumptions on their head.
I've found the pacing to be appropriate but it is definately closer in pacing to an actual novel than the popcorn fiction many readers come to RR to consume, so if you read this one take a moment to settle in.
There are, at times, moments where the world building has issues that break my immersion.
There are known super criminals at large in every city. Cool!
In a society where the good guys being capable of making remote controlled spy devices the size of a housefly, some of these criminals don't even have a face associate with them. Cool?
When non-villain supers have the potential to turn villain whenever they please and are not terribly common, much like normal citizens if every 100th citizen had a bomb strapped to them 24/7, the government has made no catalogue of non-villain supers. Wait, what?
Heroes operate with no visible oversight from any authority. Huh??
These aren't terribly major problems, and the author has remained vague enough on the worldbuilding to miss these completely, but I noticed so thought I'd include it.
Grammar 4/5
The author has so many fragments. Despite the fragments, however, the story is well composed. There are few spel - thingsandstuffRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The beginning, that goes hard on the mystery angle, was a little frustrating to read. The author made too many of the clues too obvious, which left me annoyed at Liam not noticing anything outside of his little bubble. I get it though. Liam was a newbie superhero. He was still learning. At the same time, the author was also learning and he definitely got better imo.
I like how book 2 is going so far. There's character development, teambuilding, nice character interactions, etc. The pace feels pretty pretty slow though, but I like that to some extent. We see situations for multiple characters' POVs, which adds an element of depth to the characters as well as the situations. I wish we could have longer chaps for more content though XD - SageofloreRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Ok story, but didn't really feel satisfied while reading it. Never went beyond average and had me skipping lots of descriptive paragraphs as they took away from the pace of the story. His "powers" also didn't really hit the mark of being super. More like a mechanic with a screwdriver on hand than a "Iron man" type technology.
