Description

Given a year to prepare by the mysterious ‘system’ for contact with the wider galaxy, humanity must work to ensure the Earth’s defense is ready to meet any challenge.

Sadly, most of the world seems dedicated to tearing itself apart as the year-end deadline gets closer. The west is in barely contained Chaos, while the east descends into internal conflict and war.

The Pillar Forts organized and built around the mysterious connection pillars given to Earth by the System stand ready to defend humanity against invasion should it come.

Massive steel and stone walls that surround the Connection Pillars, these forts are filled with Earths deadliest men and women. Trained in all manner of warfare, and in the newly acquired System, each with skills and magical abilities that they put to deadly purpose.

Beside these brave warriors, tanks, helicopters, artillery and more stand ready to defend humanity against any threat. But can they overcome the disparity in levels and experience between themselves and the forces that threaten them and the rest of humanity, all while dealing with internal conflict and resistance?

Or will humanity end?

Main Characters

Jessica Brown-A young African American girl. Her 18th birthday in Detroit was the same day the systems message appeared. She discovered she was Level 7, much higher than most of the rest of the world. Why she is blessed, or cursed, with the power she doesn’t know. But what she does know is that she rather likes the feeling that comes with manipulating magic.

Isaka Smith -A third generation American and farmer who just wants to be left alone. But she is dragged into the situation by events beyond her control. When people in her small town had to deal with rioters and looters after the System announcement, she rallied them to defend themselves, earning her a trait that the government found extraordinarily useful.

John “Fighting Bull”McIntire-An old man and retired general from the tail end of the cold war, John “Fighting Bull” MacIntire is asked to step up to serve his country once again.

DEDICATION:This story is dedicated to my father who passed away recently. Jim Holloway, you’ll be missed you old silverback gorilla. Love you dad. Always have, always will.

This writer has a strong grasp on how to shape a setting and characters. As for the story, the end of the first chapter ends on a strange note that's a little sudden and surreal to announce the real point of the story - joining an intergalactic network of some sort. I look forward to reading more.

Been great writing so far, very clear and flows well, with charcters that feel like real people. No grammar stuff that ive noticed in my limited experience.
And the world while... small for now has a shadow of how big and interesting it will be and I got to say i am very excited to see more.

I am very much enjoying this story! This morning I became all caught up and all I can say is wow, I am excited to see where things go from here! John's chapter have been my favorite over all, but each of the MCs have been fun overall. Bold choice to begin  politics into chapter 1, but I will say it was handled well with opposing view points and not preachy at all. Very glad I kept reading, awesome story!

This is really off to a good start. Liking the descriptive writing and characters so far. Can't wait to see where this goes. I'll be following with interest as the story develops. I might just have to change my mind about the System Apocalypse sub-genre! Just kidding. I've been a fan of System Apocalypse tales for a while now. Will be interesting to watch as this author develops the story. I do wonder where it's going next. One thing I've noticed is the way the author doesn't hold back. I'm looking forward to the next chapter.

This is a promising new novel, well written, following three main characters in a System Integration. The System is there but with not too much focus on numbers, the author prefers to tell the story through characters, not blue screens, which is something other authors in the genre could learn

When I first started reading this, I was like, "Wow! How have I not seen this story before. It's well written and awesome. Perfect."
The more I got into it, though, the less I liked it:
    - The LitRPG aspects are almost nonexistent. Yes, people get a system. Yes, there is some leveling in the early chapters. After that, not so much. The progression of individual characters is barely even mentioned, much less focused on.
    - The apocalypse portions aren't well developed. We're told many times that society is breaking down, but we don't see much of this. It's just kind of skimmed over so the author can get on with the invasion.
So basically, this is an alien invasion novel with a system and apocalyptic events happening in the background. If you're looking for an alien invasion story, this one is okay. If you're looking for LitRPG or LitRPG Apocalypse, I don't know. It definitely wasn't for me.
