- FadeToKnightRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is one if this is fan-fictions that feel like canon. A must read and a very good time. The writing is good. The motivations of the main character is relatable. The setting is exemplary. As is the plot. I finished this in one sitting…. It is currently 3:29 am. I have work tomorrow. Anyways this is a fantastic story.
- MontenegroRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5This is a interesting book, there is a element of wish fulfilment, and there's a little too much telling over showing. But while I was reading I noticed it was kinda wordy in a odd way. After testing a couple paragraphs it turns out it was written with AI. It's still worth reading if its your niche. It read in a dense kind of way which does not flow across the eyes easily. Like a descriptive flowery language that lacks emotion? I recommend labeling it as AI assisted/written.
- Alexandra M.MRoyal Road★★★ 3.0I find the story to be okay, one of the few Harry Potter fan fictions on this site (there are quite a few, I've just read them already). I find myself reading it anyway because it isn't horrible, but it isn't exactly a page turner either.
I'm not particularly far in, but so far it's gone nowhere, I'm sure it'll pick up soon, and the writing is beautiful in the fact that I don't find grammatical errors, or any that are too noticeable, which is a big issue in many fictions on these sites, I'd say I'm pretty tolerant though. It may be AI assisted or generated, but I don't particularly care where it came from as long as it's readable and interesting.
The quality of this story really depends on the reader, and some will despise it, others with tolerate it, and I'm sure there will be some who love it. I personally find it to be perfectly average , and if you are reading this, wondering whether o get into it, just click. chapter and give it a go. These reviews will be extremely varied, and it's all up to personal prefrence.
I'm somehow still under the word count so ta-da, this sentence is wasting your time. - Luke Montier (New)Royal Road★★★ 3.0I’m going to give it to you straight. There isn’t much plot to speak of in this book. I haven’t read all that far in, but so far it’s been disapointing. I thought at first the introduction was going so slowly yet with minimal detail simply so that we know some things before hand, such as the MC befriending his little animal friends or getting his time turner, or having some information about his family.
i was hoping things would get better when he gets to Hogwarts, that there’d be more details, more, I don’t know, scenes? It just feels like this is a book describing the MCs adventures instead of a book about the adventures in hid POV.
There’s just not enough conversations. Not enough explanations or narratives? I don’t know. I just find myself growing bored the more I read.
also, another thing. We don’t even know what the MC looks like. I only realised recently, but I don’t know his hair colour, or his eye colour, or his skin colour or anything. I don’t know his favourite colour, food or animal. I don’t know if he likes certain things better then others, such as if he prefers Transfiguration over Charms. Also, it’s the fact that he’s not doing anything to actively change the plot. I don’t expect him to go all Gryffindor and completely whack it o of control, but at the same time, it feels like this entire story is just going to be the plot just with a extra character tagging along.
at the end of the day, I’ll probably keep reading. But I’m hoping things get better. Cause my patience is starting to thin. - CreestawlRoyal Road★★★ 2.5I am several chapters in, and there are a lot of words. And they are very nice words. But our friend Polonius is spinning his wheels describing minute details and not enough actually moving a plot forward. I'm sure thinking through all the sensations/steps/observations between death and birth would be super interesting if it hadn't been done to death in a bunch of other isekai stories out there.
This'll go on my DNF list. - ShadowKnight6992Royal Road★★ 2.0So the grammar is decent, punctuation here and there are missing.
the side characters and beasts are done really well and are adorable, especially with how they each have pretty distinct well written personalities.
The other characters though the “trio” are the exact same as always……you know if you’ve read the thousands of others
the plot and story………hmm well I’ve read to chapter 29 of 58 so exactly halfway and it’s just the exact same stuff as always hes even sorted with the trio, but does nothing to change the plot,
and it’s not like the synopsis says where the events happen all around him while he’s off on his own unique adventure, that’s just a lie we’ve had maybe 2.5-3 chapters actually be unique and not just the retelling of HP, so yea idk how to even rate the novel if it’s just HP with bits and pieces here and there of the Mc playing with a couple beasts - DiscoTuurkRoyal Road★★ 1.5TL:DR It's a gary stue who just follows the Gryffindor trio while not actually doing anything.
This is my first review ever i think, i just had to write this down out of frustration.
The MC reads and magically knows these complex spells, yet none of the knowledge acquisition is shown, it's just told to us.
It's so dense to read and much of it is unnecessary fluff. Probably AI written as another reviewer asserted. You can't help but skim through entire chapters and not really missing anything of worth.
The MC has so far exhibited zero qualities associated with Gryffindor and yet was sorted into that house, yet he fully exhibits traits desired in both Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. He is just a background dude doing nothing at school besides studying and following the trio around.
There's instances of future happenings/knowledge that all of a sudden pop up in the 1st year which is slightly baffling. I'm inclined to think it's simply an error brought on by thinking about the future books.
IMO you either go the AU route with changing canon through the MC:s actions or you create a new story for the MC that is separate from canon. I sincerely do not understand the narrative function of the MC being a background dud to the Gryffindor trio. - hatsuneleafuRoyal Road★ 1.0No plot here, just words. All that’s happened in the chapters I’ve read is “MC is isekai’d and learns more about his family history and magic.” According to other reviews, he’s sorted into Gryffindor… despite not showing any Gryffindor qualities. I’d place him in either Slytherin due to his ambition to become a Magizoologist or Ravenclaw due to his intelligence. On top of all that, it appears to be AI written/assisted, inferred from the usage of good old em dashes (—).
