How to Avoid Death on a Daily Basis

Description
What if you were transported to a fantasy world with no special abilities, no OP weapons and no status screen to boost your stats? Never mind finding the dragon’s treasure or defeating the Demon Lord, you only need to worry about one thing—how to stay alive.
A group of young Brits wake up in a strange, fantastical land with creatures from myth and legend. They are given archaic weapons they don't know how to use and told to do their best.
Convinced it has to be some kind of virtual reality RPG, all the people summoned form parties and set off on their adventures, leaving behind the people nobody wants in their group.
Story of my life, thinks Colin.

- AlortRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Your way of writing, the way you show us the world they are in, as well as their limitation and how they'll progress based on the fact that, no matter what they throw at them, they try to avoid it, is amazing. Really, it really is.
The grammar is far better than many i've read here but the selling point isn't the few misspellings but the way that everything is narrated. It's fresh. There's no high and mighty, no "prepare thine ass for donight we dine". It's a refreshing read.
Now the problem: your MC. He is manipulative. He swears a lot. He gets in fight with everyone. And, as if not enough, he tries to keep everyone away from him or make it awkward for all those that try to get close. His sadism is over nine thousand, if you ask me. The problem is that I do like him. Seriously, he makes me think that I am with them and this makes me think that i'm a dick. Not that I don't have one, that I AM one. And I don't plan to spend my hard earned money on therapy, mind you. But still, he is a good MC, a really funny one, and a original. Be proud cause you made someone who's not a bishoujo, a sociopath or a OP character that tries to lay low, but a normal guy with no redeeming trait other than his own disbelieving in everyone and himself, as an amazing MC in a world that everyone is better than him.
The plot itself didn't have any progress so far. I won't spoil anything, but seriously, up to now there hasn't been anything big. Ah, unless that the plot is trying to survive, then there's plot since the begining. But, other than that, nothing that we can speak of. That is, until they met some monsters that weren't so aggressive, saw an horde and got where they are now. Which means that we have to piece together whatever info we have that may or may not be a plot, and this is good, it gets us to make guesses and then come back to see if we are right. Or complain as hell cause we were wrong and our guesses were soooo better than you, who is writing. At least, they seemed better f - juracinovaesRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It´s a very good story, the construction of the personality of every character on the group and it´s evolution during the adventures has been worked by the author in an intelligent way. The main character isn´t the stupid OP hero that you commonly see in other stories and he really acts as the title of the story says. I'm eager to read every new chapter!
- justaplayer43Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Personally this is one of my favorite stories. A random assortment of characters just trying to live life in a fantasy world. And getting caught up in all kinds of stuff.
After reading all the other novels about OP MC's this is probably one of the most refreshing stories I've read. So I highly recommend this to anybody, even if they don't like non-OP characters. The humor is enough to make up for that - tarrook10Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0I like it!
- dandylionRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0strikes the perfect balance between comedy and sarcasm. really enjoying this one.
- jplauyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0The story is a good one, the mc party remember me in some way the big bang theory, a bunch of nerds and misfits struggling to live on a new world.
- Minutiae IdiosyncrasyRoyal Road★★★★ 4.0Uhm, I'm not quite sure about this story..I mean, I suppose it was interesting finding others points of view, I had never seen anyone who first noticed someone was black, and I never personally noticed it either as the First thing, even though the first time I had seen a black person was when I was 7. I mean, perhaps it's because I'm American and it's an American thing but..That's was interesting, but then the joke on Chapter 70 something about a big black man trying to rape him was...not particularly funny, but to each his own. Then there was the rudeness towards Austrailians, I mean...that was strange, I didn't think any peoplee actually didn't like someone because of strained relations between countries, especially when the 'strain' is so minute. That was 'different' too. Colin is just sort of...callous and rude?
Plus, his strength gain seems to make no sense, especially how he learned Swordplay so quickly, and was able to best the princess, who trained since she was like 3. Plus, he seems to just get stronger at a strangely high rate. And his Magic healing is a near Deus ex Machina, but I guess him eventually fainting sort of helped.
Uh, you left a Cheknov's gun there. Mandy. You sort of just..wiped her out of the story...It seems likely she'll try and get him killed because of his threatening, or look for a way to expose him, while keeping herself safe. If she was thinking logically that is, which no character seems to do. Especially Colin...he seems to lack Empathy when not thinking of sex, which I feel is quite an incorrect presentation of teens. I mean, I was never so lustful, and no one I knew ever was either. Maybe there are people like that. I don't know.
Also, it's very...British, and Floosie..or whatever her name is...it took me 10 chapters to understand when she was referring to herself..Otherwise, I mean, it's okay.
They are British..and I mean, no offense but, why exactly do the people in another world use British accents? I mean, I suppose American - Crying LightningRoyal Road★★★ 2.5This story pisses me off so much. Not only because I could have been something great, but because dumbass reviewers will praise this as some groundbreaking work of fiction when it really isn't. But as I said, it could have been.
Style
Nothing remarkable. The story is told in first person from the protagonist, Colin, because the author wanted to emphasize his personality traits, but they are too shallow for me to overlook the amateurish writing. It's decent, leagues above the RRL standard, but you can't call it 'good'.
Story
Decent at first, with a dark tone. We were introduced a world where killing was necessary to survive, a world full of prowling monsters which threatened human settlements. Except that this setting is thrown out of the window almost immediately because it was too hard for the author to write a proper story. It's absurd how much potential the author wasted. The beginning was fuckin' great, hunting rabbits to survive, adapting to a new world and confronting the other visitor groups and all that good shit which makes a story good. After killing the mouse king, the plot loses it purpose: the characters became filthy rich, leave the starting town and head to some big city. However, we get no sense of danger from this journey in an unknown land (supposedly full of monsters). I mean, sure, there is an ogre in the forest, but every time it's mentioned, Colin just goes: "We heard howling. We started running.". See? There is no suspense. All of this potential was wasted because the author wanted to keep on writing some shitty gags and he was afraid to write something more serious. Fuck you.
Grammar
This guy's a brit.
Characters
Oh boy. The main meme team is a bunch of shitty losers with social anxiety, which is supposed to be one of the selling points of the novel, but their backstory is never exposed in depth. There is an event where they confess their insecurities in the starting chapters, but nothing else happens after that. No character development, no - greenduckRoyal Road★★ 2.0The MC started as cold and self interested maybe not strong but independent and looking out for himself but about 120 chapters into the story he becomes a complete wimp in terms of personality the story until then was amazing definitely in the top 10 on RR IDK what made the author decide to do what he's been doing but it's truly ruined the story for me at least I personally think he should be rewriting from around chapter 120 due to the fact he changes the MC's personality somewhere around there if the rewrite dose come I thinks it'll be a 5 star story
- Peerless FattyRoyal Road★ 1.0dropped around 268, all characters become yes men as soon as they become allied with the main character, they lose all sense of self and everything he says is correct.
also the summary is a lie, there is no adventure here, all notion of that type of story is dropped after the first arc. just people from different races who all can talk, are basically humans, and that colin bullshits with speeches to become friends with him or so he can escape the situation.
also the way every character is swayed by colins words and instantly decide they should work together, he should be their minion, or that everything he says "sounds reasonable" isnt because he has a silver tongue, its because theyre forced to so the plot can continue on to the next "welcome to X" it wouldve been nice if the main character actually had such a way with words but he doesnt, which is the disappointment.
