How does pain leave the body?

The title is meta - I am trying to wean off antidepressants, and boy howdy am I feeling the pain. Writing (poorly) was an old habit, and picking it up again is one way to try and relieve the pain.

This world is largely similar to our own, but with a hint of magical realism.
