Description
The Realm of Meriath. A world populated by four species: Humans, Beast Folk, Beasts, and the Undead. Four thousand years ago, the world almost ended as the intelligent species of Meriath knew it. They were on the verge of being overrun by the Undead hordes. It was only averted thanks to multiple figures rising above all else from both the ranks of Humans and Beast Folks. With their lead, they pushed back and broke down the Undead menace, working hard to reclaim their Realm.
When the Dark Ages ended, only six remained standing from those heroes of yore. They were the Patriarchs and Matriarchs of their families, establishing the Six Houses of Meriath. Families that are, after 4000 years, still present and still guard the Realm against the Undead. Their mission is to ensure they never rise back to the same frightening state as before, endangering every living being on Meriath.
The House of Amarin is one of these Six Houses. Situated in the most northern part of Meriath, they continue their mission of dealing with the Undead to this day. Lia, born to bear the name of Amarin, is only now starting to realize her own powers, but as the family's youngest daughter, she is not exempt from responsibilities. A responsibility that nobody knew at the start what would entail regarding the future of not just the House of Amarin but the whole Realm of Meriath...

- Pro2aEMSRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Okay round two! House of Amarin was stupendously good… now, coming out of the mad god realm I’m salty that my new favourite series ended but willingly tried this series out because it’s set in the same universe as the mad god. This series MC Lia is a tiny terror. If you loved Ren she is almost like a little sister to Ren, but the similarities soon end once Lia starts to mature. They truly are different people. On Meriath the power system is totally different. It’s a blank slate. Only thing that remains the same is the cosmos and what it represents. The thing is, what makes corty writing brilliant is that he has a whole solar system with thousands to millions or even billions of realms… all ripe for a MC to grow up and he will have a new series for us to gobble up. The main characters of this series are also superb! Lia has her core group of friends and that’s who the main focus is mostly on. There are some bad guy perspectives mixed in… usually I don’t want to see things from the enemies angle… but corty wrote those chapters quite well.. especially when you know they’ll soon be toast. It’s satisfying. That’s the correct word to use when reading a series by corty…. Satisfying. Corty I will say isn’t above killing people off… don’t let that scare you… they aren’t senseless deaths… they all mean something to the story and is required to advance the story along. It doesn’t happen much but it’s in there… both series. House of Amarin has it all. Comedy, love, struggle, angst, harems and lots of action! There’s also lots of slice of life mixed in as well! All of corty characters are “real” he shows their feelings, their lives, the way to love, die and struggle. All of his side characters mean something and aren’t just filler or plot armor. If you’ve read the mad god you already know how good corty sis at writing. Saddle up and dig into house of Amarin.
- SergeandgreenRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story is well written and an amazing read.
The characters are well thought out and entertaining, the fighting scenes are cool, and the world-building is interesting. I especially liked that the author managed to describe the scenes so well that I could picture most scenes in my head. But the main selling point of the story is definitely the characters. They aren't the typicall 2D stereotypical characters with a singular purpose in the story. It feels like they have a real place in the world the author created.
The grammar is also close to flawless. At least I didn't spot any mistakes, so the immersion doesn't get destroyed because the author mispelled a word, and you have too ask a fortune teller what the giberisch could mean. The sentences are also structured in a way that its easy to understand, and you don't have to reread stuff because of the complexity. So overall, a style that makes it enjoyable to read.
All in all I can recommend the story to anyone who enjoys the genre. I know that the author already completed the story, so you can also be sure that it won't be dropped or goes into hiatus or something like that.
So stop reading reviews and start reading the story.
Ps: Don't start at night, you won't get any sleep. - AzureWhaleRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5This is one of those rare stories that sucks you in my making it seem that nothing much is going on in the beginning. Gradually there are layers added that build into something that cannot be anticipated. Sure, the MC gets stronger, but, for a change (very pleasantly), that is not the focus of the story, just a small part of it.
Overall, highly recommended. - CruendithasRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5At this point, above all my other potential criticisms of the story, I am just sick and tired of the sex talk. The author basically uses it constantly as a glue to hold up any holes in their writing.
Dialogue might end awkwardly? Descends into a bunch of sexual jokes and innuendos. Don't know how to end scenes involving the MC's parents? They announce they're off to have sex now. Need to establish a free-spirit character? Everything involving her must be about sex, directly or tangentially. She is barely allowed any other identity. Don't know how to get two kids to build friendship with each other? The 11-year-old MC straights up sexually assaults another kid. Then there needs to be a whole drawn-out section where she talks about his genitals.
The sexual talks, innuendos, passes, etc. are a constant in Every. Single. Chapter. I've quite frankly had enough. If you can't figure out how to write a proper story without it just becoming a patchwork of "haha sex", I see no need to further waste my time here. - The Young PyromancerRoyal Road★★★ 3.0This story puts me in the unusual position of being not totally sure what I dislike about it. The premise is good, the magic system seems decent enough, and the grammar isn’t horrendous. Yet, I find myself disliking it.
I suppose it’s a bunch of smaller factors. The characters are all pretty one-note. There’s the reliable upperclassman, the horny one, the fighty maid, and the generic shounen protagonist- and that’s more or less their entire thing. The hints of romance aren’t just hints, they’re bludgeons. The main character is the kid of the strongest family, but has a “flaw” preventing them from progressing that’s clearly some rare physique that will make them more powerful later. They find a nysterious book super randomly that happens to be on the exact thing they want to accomplish- something only their ancestor has ever done before. It’s just so… ugh.
If I had to pick something, I’d say I dislike this story for character and, to a lesser extent, style. Grammar is okay, like I said before, and while the story isn’t great, the undead were set up to feel like a real threat, and not just random mooks. Though I suppose that would count as style…
Maybe I’m just being picky. Idk. Other people might like this. I just don’t. - Foxbat40Royal Road★ 0.5This fiction features an 11 year old doing lots of sexually charged things.
The currency they used is literally called CP.
She steels a vibrator to give to her cousin to steel a literal magic wand.
Its not even funny. Ok some of it is funny but the rest of it is just confusing and boring and there is lots of fighting that isn't very well done.
Seriously make the MC 16 or 18 at the start of the story and this wouldn't be some weird.
