- 47th_DemiGodRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I personally prefer, realistic story.
I don't want the protagonist to just know 2 or 3 methods to solve a difficult problem and then magically starts to solve any future problems because he could in the past.
The most interesting part I loved was when he constantly won impossible to win the wars, and still won it with his wits only to then suffer the cost of winning too much. Not many author's decide to punish if a protagonist is too successful.
Another thing is that it reminds me of how Kinoko Nasu wrote his VN fate/stay night. Shirou suffered every time he tried to be a hero, there was a cost for trying to be a hero.
Similarly Lanius also bears consequences of both his defeats and wins.
Last things to add, - BoredBtwRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0After the first chapters I was completely enamoured, so much so that i spent a whole day reading book 1, 2 and 3 while bedridden from flu. It’s time i wouldn’t trade for the world. As i lied down sweaty and constantly fatigued, Lansius’ story had everything I could ask for. A main character with mystery, strength beyond strength, and a mind so complex and compassionate I almost wish he was real.
Supporting the main character is a plethora of characters each written with unique personalities and memorable quirks and tendencies. Such so was the enigmatic Stefi, aloof Felis and a plethora of stalwart and honourable knights sure to make the Round Table proud. But behind these supporting characters are interesting antagonists who show multiple dimensions and akin to the medieval times are a product of their surroundings and forced hand rather than like many fantasy stories where antagonists are evil simply to be evil. Perhaps my only gripe would be due to the size of the supporting cast I feel some characters do not get as much time to be explored or their perspectives seen in many key events during the series. However, the story is very good at keeping pace and this had maybe done to keep it so.
Not to mention the world surrounding this novel is so full of life and masterfully written to feel so real. As a DM i thoroughly enjoyed seeing the tools used in world building used in the creation of this beautiful novel and It’s thoroughly inspired me to get back into writing.
I have so many praises for the author, they have done an astounding job bringing this world to life. When the rest of the books come to Amazon i’m sure to buy them in paperback :) - Cooljo2Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Love the story and only wish the author could write faster
( I don't have a lot of patience sadly even though the author does post faster than most authors on this site)
swords and bows adventure and surprises.... perhaps love?
lots to read and enjoy about this story
its a world building slow rise to power story that is reasonably paced and does a good job at character development, there aren't too many characters that it becomes difficult to keep them all straight. The battles are where the author shines!! Using period accurate equipment, factual understanding of weapons and armor and actual historical battles to pull information from the author knows how to write a good battle and every one of them is better than the last!!
(well done author) keep it up.
In the Lull's between battles you get plot development and building of foces as well as some political intrigue if that your thing. There's not too much action for a few chapters in a row and then it'll explode back into action once again. So far there have been fair maidens, slavery, sword fights, full battles, crossbows, seiges, fire, food, chases oh horseback, and some deaths....
(please hurry up I need to know what happens) - Ron-AaARoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a great story no doubt. Though I will say the first part of the story does feel slow to me but. There is a big but. All in all it makes the characters along with the story flow better. Since we gain more time before what happens in the latter part of the story. And we'll what isn't there to honestly talk about and not praise. The dialog is solid making each character feel real along with giving you good immersion. But the best part to me would be the action scenes. Giving the reader a feeling of how chaotic a battle like this would be. Along with switching perspectives so we can see the whole fight. It's hard to do and it's done well. I'm at chap 170 and what a ride it has been bringing all the best anyone could ask kingdom building, army building, war and politics. I can't wait to see more.
- SchnaddeldidRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Story don't start too fast, like many other stories here, the characters develops nicely, also baddies are at best gray, not real dark nightmarish baddies, for me always hard to believe..
And the best (mild) romance I've read here, just as some kind of background noise, that makes the overall story just better. - SmaughRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0it’s written so well I’m shocked I’m reading it in RR. At least at the point I’m at? It’s been great. Personally I can’t wait to continue and I’m just writing this to support the author and the story. One million people or just one can read this book, I don’t care as long as I get to read it also.
- TentendadaRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a story that has really grown on me. Lots to like about the world of Lans and his "henchmen / henchpeople".
The background world upon which this story is set is very well thought out. Lots of depth and a a very acceptable ratio of known-unknowns to unknown- unknowns. Some of the genre stuff is even presented in a fresh style that shows the author is quite deft at their trade.
The technology level is well established, beast and human power is the limit, no mcguffins or over-powered items.
But, best of all are the characters and there interactions, here is a cast of believable people doing recognisablely normal things over a timeline that doesn't rush reality like so many authors do. A small example is the time it takes to train a basic crossbowman. These skills take; physcial growth, a solid diet and steady intentional work, all of which are built into the authors scaffolding without visible seams, just shown as daily activity, not just a montage.
Highly recommended for the grammer and appears to even be edited well.
a very professional work by a talanted person - TwistedTorment18Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Loved it so far, i find it well paced and belivable. Even if isekai, and is good no op or logic holes. Is fun and fresh, and the mc is not a dumb ass or full on genius. I will continue to read it untill is completed. Keep on the awsome work.
- k0p9o8i7uRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0It has a very well written plot as well as excellent grammar. I love the depth on many side characters, as well as the main characters. You might want to consider adding a link to a current world map to each chapter. I can not wait to hear more of the Emporer's daughter, too.
- Gain1Draw1Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This a great story, well written and edited, fantastic characters with depth and growth. The techniques employed in battle have obviously been well thought out and researched to be realistic and hisrtorically accurate enough, obviously there is some liberties taken due to its nature as a fantasy story, but they never break immersion. 10/10 would reccomend.
