- Jason DeweyRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Good ending! An enjoyable read from start to finish.
A story of a person that just wants to live the slow life, but events keep him aware of the need to prepare and help the people he meets. Fortunately his past life prepared him for the hard road ahead.
The ending managed to be a bit of a surprise yet consistent with the story.
Thanks for not clicking the spoiler. - MorebooksRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a gem! I’m 300+ chapters in, so I feel justified in that assessment. I will be honest the beginning was rough, this was obviously a first effort and someone learning as they went. The author was also writing in their third language and deserves mad props for that even in the beginning when it was rough. I came here from one of their newest works and loved it, so I knew what was happening with their current writing. I am so glad I got to experience the progression as their writing developed. This is worth reading just from that stand point, however the world is fascinating and well developed. I am enjoying the story on its own merits and can easily over look any early swapping of “C” for the letter “G” in the first several chapters. It really does flow better the longer you read, so please stick with it.
For those who struggle with the initial slow pace while the world is set up- it does speed up! - Kimbrough7Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Great story. The writing is very basic but the story is interesting. The descriptions are very detailed and the MC is smart and likeable. It takes a while for other people to show up but that's not a big deal because a lot happens before then. If you enjoy crafting/base building stories, this book is for you. It also has decent action scenes and battles. There are typos and bad grammar galore so if that bothers you, this book isn't for you.
TLDR: I highly recommend. - Continuity ManRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I first checked this out because I like the base building/sustainability of farms in this these kids of stories. What I got instead was an MC with more character than 5 oth MC's combined. I say bravo to the author for this story.
I have two gripes but please dont hear what im not saying, first the author ran out of gas and had to end it a bit abruptly. That being said it was a very plausible and fair ending. I am just glad he stuck it out after the muse left him to give us some closure. The second gripe is I am an old man and a veteran, so I was really pulling for the peaceful happily ever after. I have seen some many of my brothers and sisters fail to get quality life after war and I romanticized it a bit too much.
TLDR This is a great story and you should read it - Flea04Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0This one is a keeper!
My current litrpg genre obsession was fully realized in this story. It has all of my favorites parts, complete with an intelligent MC and awesome RPG mechanics.
The characters were interesting, the world building was fascinating and the litrpg aspects were right up my alley. The grammar was decent. There were a few places that could use some extra editing and sometimes the 1st and 3rd person switches tripped me up a little, but not enough to pull out of the story being told
I will 100% be following this story and the author and already have it marked in my favorites. - TheCrazyCaptainRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Excellent writing. Thoroughly enjoyed the read and hopefully we follow Rich more in the future.
The jump in 20 years was at a good time. I would have loved a bit more details of Rich's personal life during those years but overall loved the story.
Some grammatical mistakes here and there but not too jarring - yaykisspurrRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I just finished the last chapter. I quite like stories about building a farm or complex and have crafting and a system. I liked the backstory of Rich too that we learned slowly. The writing struggles in between major story arcs. The author used this time to go over stats and abilities. Not my favorite way to transition but it’s the author’s story.
I found it intriguing going from homesteading to nation building though it did make sense with the character’s history.
I loved the story up until the last arc with the 20 year time jump. We zoomed out of the story too much and it was hurried like the author just wanted to end the story. He had a good idea for the last arc it just wasn’t executed with the same quality as his other arcs.
I would like a more concrete end or a reboot of the Rich Dirt story after that ending. Also I found his method of ending the conflict obvious. Still while disappointing, I don’t regret reading all 417 chapters. - Fenrir_070Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5While I enjoy a good OP MC story as much as the next person I sometimes want to take a break from all the slaughter, explosions and drama. That's when I like slice of life stuff or similar tales. This story hits all my buttons with leveling, crafting, exploration and just a bit of action...so far. I especially like the homestead idea as it gives opportunity to explore various crafting option without being stuck in one profession like alchemist or blacksmith. Fantastic idea by the author and I'm really looking forward to what's coming next.
- IonManRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Let's start with a hook of "Son of a bitch.”
It's quite a fun read. It hooked me from start to finish. There's no thought from me anywhere in the story that says, "I need a break to reset my reading of the story." So, be ready to keep reading late into the night, losing a few hours of sleep, while asking yourself, "Should I sleep now?"
The story is definitely falling into a reincarnation loop trope, but there are unique twists throughout the stories to make you go, "Hm. That's new." The story takes refreshing approaches, twisting genres like a bad ball of knotted yarn, and still makes sense, instead of following the same old tropes that put you to sleep. The backstories could have been extended a bit more to create a stronger link to the main stories, or better, spinoffs. The MC's background remains shrouded in mystery. I have to double back a few times to search for the MC's vague background to paint a broader possible tapestry, but I believe the writer is trying to make readers' imaginations run wild.
From the start to around two-thirds of the story, it's nice and consistent in its developmental pace. But the remaining third, the story appears very rushed. What happened to the pets? How did the pets evolve? Where did they go? What happened to the protégées? What's going on in their minds as they suffer the brutal training regimens? So many questions, yet the story still flows very well. What if...What about...But then...
I believe the story can still push for another 500 chapters minimum simply filling in the missing information to make the story very complete. The story itself has an extremely high potential to be a great TV series. It falls into a very uncommon trope that most don't like to write about, but the writer made it work well. Toss in the ancient demon invader element a bit more and you got interdimensional war. Extend the story a bit more to involve the various races and you get The Matrix + War of the World + Game of Thrones. The limited story highli - ulysses1174Royal Road★★★★★ 4.5Very engaging and informative story. It very much reminds me of end of the world prepper fiction blended with an equal part Isekai LitRPG. I like how the author was able to blend those different aspects and still maintain an exciting storyline.
I took a half star off for grammer and spelling mistakes it would have been a full star but the author states English isn't his first lanugage. The story is in bad need of an editor maybe the author could offer advance reading to someone if they volunteered to make corrections.
