With nowhere else to run, DD is going home.Hundreds of years after environmental collapse and disease brought the modern world as we know it to an end, the remaining humans are separated into colonies, trying to recreate normal lives for themselves with what was left behind by their ancestors. DD is just one of those people, wandering the wasteland of the former western United States, looking for a place all the promise people insisted she'd had as a child would be useful. After eleven years of failures there was only one place left to go.Home.Despite her world being very different, DD is going through something any of us could. She's burned out, suffering from mental illness & trauma. Would there even be a small town where she'd left it? Perhaps it'd been abandoned, or overtaken by Sand Trawlers? If it was there, would she still be welcome? Would her old friends forgive her for vanishing without a word eleven years ago? Could she even live a normal life? Or would she continue on running away, with only her demons as company?
