- Avar1ceRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Like the title says it's a decent read, it's like if overlord was in a cyberpunk world basically. Very similar vibes to overlord but there's no one to challenge him i don't really understand where the plot's going to go, and I've read 40 chapters, it kinda just seems like he's not taking advantage of his abilities by being super cautious of everything. Don't get me wrong it could get a lot better with more plot progression but as of right now I've lost interest might come back later for it. The writing itself is fine with a few errors here and there nothing absurd though, mostly just some wrong pronouns and the occasional repeated paragraph. The world building is good and the characters have personality. It is quite depressing so be prepared for that but that fits the theme of grimdark so I knew what I was signing up for overall if you're craving something like overlord I would highly recommend 👍
- Kami-sama00Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0The idea is great and but the executive is great at best.
The basic idea is instead of the usual normal guy from Japan is hit by a truck and goes to a fantasy — this is one more like how the transportation happened in re:zero where the mc just got transported in an instant. But instead of a fantasy world — it's earth in the year 2109.
The world building is quite good, the author did state he has content for like 50 volume's so well see where he goes but he has set up quite a few intersting plot points which will take time to be resolved properly.
The author's style of writing is also fine, not overly amazing, not some shakespere level english but quite decent.
There really aren't that many character's in the story at this point, there's; The MC, his friend, a megacorp employee, a desendent of the mc (or atleast what I think since they share the same last name), a girl who faced the mc and survived and in volume 2 he had introduced quite a few character's personally I like the police officer the most — all of them are decent, not extremely unrealistic but not that bad. The mc is also not stupid like most other MC's, there were a few points though where I wondered why he did this or that so those could have been done better but that's about it. - KraeticRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0The story has a unique concept of Sci-fi. It has been written in great detail. The author is really skilled in writing . The story has been paced well. The characters are good and the world building is really interesting which can be taken upto a notch if the author really works on it. The fighting scenes are good , very small tho. Maybe in the future we will get to see good fighting scenes as we are still early in the story. I think I want the author to work more on the Sci-fi concept, I would love to see more. Everything else is pretty good. I would recommend it to anyone who likes Sci-fi .
- Lana3989Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0In short, this story offers enough interesting twists on the isekai genre so like it.
The main character isn't a plans potato, although there's power fantasy, it's only used to show the gap between the mc and the rest of the world just to establish him as the alpha and omega — basically a god in this world.
The overall narrative is incredibly in depth and blends seamlessly with the themes and concepts that make it feels like an world.
All characters are also very well developed refreshingly, they aren’t boring or clichéd. Most characters are pretty well written with detailed personalities and interesting views of Society and the World of 2109 itself along with their own unique attempts of finding their place in this world.
There are also no real issues with the grammar, though newbies might find some of the phrasing a bit uncomforting. That’s fairly typical in high or dark fantasy, though.
The author of this fiction has clearly researched in depth. Such as DnD lore or Japanese videogames.
Should you be interested in world building which is focused on realism a little more than just on a plain wish fulfillment, you are likely to love Hollow.
Also, it seems the main character wants to "save" the world which is basically another way of saying he'll conquer it so I'm all for that show when it starts to roll.
Thank you to the author for writing this! - Ulbert demon of chaos11Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0It's a fine story.
It's a twist on the isekai genre where the main character instead of being a depressed hobo who has a life is instead just a fairy normal man with a happy family.
Another twist is that instead of being transported to a medivel fantasy, he was transported to a cyberpunk dystopian earth in the future.
The execution is fine with a megacorp building up to be a main villain.
The writing is also fine, with some minor mistakes here and there. The characters feel alive even though they make dumb decisions a few time which can only be to progress the plot. There are a few rough pacts but overall it's good.
Another thing is that it borrows heavily from overlord, but not enough to be considered a fanfiction. Just some common ideas but many stories also share that.
The tone is dark and oppressive but it's a fun read.
Book 1 was more just him finding out where he is while book 2 is him being a mercenary and exploring it.
Can't wait for book 3.
There's also a misunderstanding going on between him and a few characters where they think he wants them to conquer to world so I'm excited to see where that goes. - cancrieRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Ts peak af idc what anyone else says deffo top 3 for me the charecter is so refreshing too smh goated and I love where the story is getting to and isn't just the usual I got reincarnated am hella strong and got em super powers and stuff and isn't bland as well got actual emotion and story line my favorite part was by far the part where that one guy dies truly heart breaking but satisfying at the same time though goated story line and plot can't wait for more and I haven't actually caught up to it just needed to leave something behind for such peak a must read And I accidentally selected advance review without knowing what it ment but I am not letting go of the para I already wrote so I'll give some more stuff I liked and disliked
- taco-cat223Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Genuinely enjoying the narrative so far. The protagonist feel's real, and is wrestling with the fact that he has been isekaied and lost everything he had made in his entire life in a day, that can make for awkward social dynamics. He's clearly intended to grow overtime, and the first book has made that a pretty clear goal for the future. The main character can be frustrating in how withdrawn he can be, but that palpable anxiety at being alive and visible in front of others is well observed by the author.
And, the decision for him to abandon his human name of Hayate Sato and take on the name of Lucifer show's he is trying to put everything from his past life behind him and move on.
The politics of the setting also ground it as well. mega-corporations, deals, and unilateral action by private companies bring a terrifying reality to what would otherwise be a power fanatsy story. Magic is super cool, so long as only the main character has it which is clearly not going to be the case by book 3 as stated in the synopsis.
Anyone looking for something light and fluffy wont get what they're after here. This feel's like a dark fantasy and cyberpunk story mixed into one, can't wait to see where this leads to.
