- Kanau NegaiRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0A wonderful story about a girl who really loved magic excelling and discovering new things for herself. Few discrepancies here and there. A fun and slow moving story with enough worldbuilding to be intrigued by what happens next. She's a human being who makes mistakes, realizes them and transforms in different ways due to them . Alot of potential yet unrealized but im looking forward to what coming next. Sit back, relax and enjoy. Because i sure did.
- PagetHereRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5I like the pace of the story. Steady but still interesting. I like the characters so far. I hope they can get more skills/spells soon but throughly enjoying this so far just feels like its lacking the "hexer" feeling so far. Good work looking forward to more. The grammar and such is pretty good too. Highly recommend
- EquinoxRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5Overall I love what the author is doing with this book but a major complaint I have with the novel is that nearly every chapter has a cliffhanger with some chapters feeling mostly like nothing burgers until something happens only for the author to cut the chapter but in more recent chapters this has been remedied by
Astrid being introduced and the character interactions from that as well as the story feeling like it’s actually going somewhere (to be fair it was the first 20ish chapters I was just impatient) - MythimRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5While this story isn't trying to do anything that hasn't been done before I don't think that should be a demerit. This is through and through a numbers go up system apocalypse. If you are a fan of the genre this probably won't be your first choice but it is a solid choice if you are looking for one with a magic leaning.
Story is kind of slow and feels even slower when first side character(feels like a second main character) shows up but honestly i think it was a major improvement to the storytelling overall. Just gets balanced better in my opinion and they work well together. Despite that it may be a turn off for some people as this is a slower story and takes a while to get anywhere but is a pro if you like long winded narratives.
With the few characters we have been introduced the main party dynamics have meshed well and they feel realistic enough. They have their motivations and act on them. Not all decisions are good decisions and can be frustrating as a reader but are understandable in a crisis situation. Hard to min-max when you are worried about dying.
Entering into the second book there still haven't been many characters introduced and will probably be expanded on with the world building of the new terra-formed planet. Honestly i think this is the part we know the least about as a reader as everything is new and we only learn it through what Hazel and Astrid figure out as they go.
As far as grammar goes it's never perfect but honestly it's not a big deal as they are minor and the author goes back and makes edits or revisions. - Osk5R M@r@Royal Road★★★★ 3.5Im going to continue reading but I agree with some of the other comments. The MC feels like a robot and completely disregarding her health. If she hab been introduced as a Murderhobo that’s fine but she seemed relatively intelligent. Completely disregarding Defense, physical stats or an amor spell makes the MC seem incredibly stupid and that she will die at the hands of the first high level enemy that can dodge her spells. But of course she will survive because of plot armor and use that opportunity to grow. That’s my quick rant at this point I might update it if I continue reading.
- zeronskyRoyal Road★★★ 3.0Good but takes awhile for author to load new chapters, as they mostly post through patron now. Otherwise the stories good as far as I can see, the chapters can feel cluttered but that is due to there being so much to cover. The arc is great at the moment.
- ShadowTratonRoyal Road★★★ 2.5Several dozen chapters in and the story has yet to distinguish itself from others through even one thing.
● Earth's system initiation
● The obligatory tutorial dungeon
● A completely unoriginal system
● Monsters you'll find in every RPG game
● Typical quests and subsequent rewards
● A protagonist saving and bonding with someone over adversity
If you take the most common tropes of the LitRPG genre and combine them into one, you get this.
As for the rest.
The grammar leaves something to be desired in that you'll find a fair bit of mistakes. However, as soon as someone points those out, the author fixes them swiftly for the most part. Unfortunately, this doesn't help the generally dull writing style. It's like a book for children that doesn't use difficult words or complicated sentence structures to make reading easier. And while great for learning, it makes reading for adults monotonous and therefore boring.
Plot-wise I can't say anything because beyond getting that system initiation, we really haven't learned anything substantial yet. The same is the case for worldbuilding except for a teensy few bits that are hardly worth mentioning.
Hazel is likeable and fine for the most part except for some inconsistencies in her knowledge about gaming and how she applies it to her current situation.
Overall, this reads as if the author got advice on writing and overheard the 'not' in a crucial spot. And I apologize if this comes across as rude, especially when I see an author make a continuous effort to fix their mistakes, but I am genuinely baffled because I've never read anything more cliche in my life - and I say this after reading my fair share of eastern cultivation stories and their everpresent 'arrogant young masters'. - XenophonHendrixRoyal Road★★★ 2.5The writing is awkward and too wordy. It would be immensely improved if the author went through, line by line, with the goal of removing twenty percent of the words without changing the meaning.
The main character vacillates too much. She often rejects actions that strike the reader as sensible, but then, not long after, goes back and takes those actions. A little of this shows natural human uncertainty, too much of this and the character appears weak and stupid.
The story itself is entertaining enough.
I don't regret reading it. - SecuutusRoyal Road★★ 2.0The premise sounded good, but unfortunately for me the grammar and sentence structure leaves a lot to be desired. Sentences seem like they are wordy and could be shortened, and they tend to mess up the reading flow. Capitalization of some words seems random or is missing at times. On the little I have read, the pacing seems to be rather fast as well. I could not get immersed in the story due to constantly feeling thrown off by the writing style/structure.
- CaWcHiCRoyal Road★★ 2.0The most boring and standart System Apoc i ever seen. System is lame, so is the dungeon, can't force myself to read next. There is literally zero in the System beside Stats(only 6) and Skills(less then 6) that progress on a snail pace and not affect much. It's not quite bad per se, but there is no good either.
