- MadMike.M.D.Royal Road★★★★★ 5.0Overall I really love the begining of this story and am looking forward to see how it progresses. I have read several superhero stories on RR or other sites but I can safely say that ill be keeping an eye on this!
Really enjoying the characters, their history, location, even the usage of other languages (translating those is fun!) helps bring this story a welcome amount of depth and I'd say character realism. - volcanicMoleRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0This is a very enjoyable superhero school story (even if as of this review he hasn't passed his entrance exams) which I look forward to each new chapter.
I'm not going to talk much about style and grammar here as I can't see any issues about them and so is kinda pointless. Mayhap the only 'issue' that I had the author has listened to.
Okay, about that issue, it is a feature which turned into a slight bug. Said feature is about the continent spanning cast.
Which leads to me, finally, to mention that this story is set in Greece. It's nice to have stories like this which aren't set in the US (or Japan). The author plays up the characters nationality by letting them use words in their native language, normally for insults or pet names (or both in one).
As for the characters, especially the main two, there are a good mix and they're very interesting. And they, like most good supers, have their flaws. As for the others we've come to know, the best friend has moved aboard and the only other has (understandably) a major bone to pick with the MC. I just hope that that relationship gets mended, but even if it doesn't I'm sure it'll be interesting to read about.
The only reason I've given Story ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ is because of the villain interludes. That is more of a personal issue (hence not knocking the main review down) and you might not see it as an issue. - PekoraShineRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0Only a few chapters in so far, but the world and characters are being established quite well. I enjoy the powers we've seen, the non-US setting is something different and the main character seems like he will be an engaging protagonist to follow. There's a clear character arc being set up for him, and some obvious steps/obstacles on the way there, so I look forward to more.
Definitely worth giving this one a shot, and when there are a few more chapters to work with I'll come back to this review with some more detail. - kleptomaticRoyal Road★★★★★ 5.0I'm always a sucker for a good superhero story, and this story in particular just makes me happy.
There are definitely parallels between this story and BNHA but that definitely does not detract from the story itself. I'm not even sure that they were intentional, but it does seem to be deeper in the story.
I like the use of langauges other than English for effect and to convey the idea that they are not in America, one of the traditional superhero settings.
Keep up the good work! - ArcurantRoyal Road★★★★★ 4.5*Disclaimer*: Not actually a My Hero Acadamia rip-off
Heroes of Tomorrow has one of my favorite Ideas for a story on this entire site, with the normal minor problems in general grammar from a relatively small author to match.
But seriously, you should read it. I sped through the 160 or so pages that exist in the span of ~2 hours, which means that I enjoyed it. - RedgumRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5So this is a story about a traumatised kid with a niche power growing up in a rich world of superheros and villans, fighting to overcome his own fears and insecurities along with the bad guys in order to follow in the footsteps of his own greatest hero, Alpha Surge. Or it could have been.
Probably the best thing about this story is the rich and satirical character building. Every character has a rich personality, the heros are heroic, the villans are dastardly, with all shades of grey in between. Many elements of familiar pop culture superheros have been introduced in such a way it's both satirical and automatically gives an insight into the character.
The MC, Alexander, is a teenager with a niche superpower that has left both himself and others deeply traumatised and riddled with self doubt, yet he's determined to follow in the legacy of an old-school superhero who's out to make the world a better place. Naturally, the place to begin this journey is Atlantis, the most elite school for young up-and-coming supers on the planet, and Alexander has his sights set firmly on gaining entrance.
So this is mostly meant to be constructive criticism, in the hope slok will one day do a re-write, but is also massive spoilers for anyone not yet read the story.
I binged most of the story in a morning, but had to tap out due to Alexander's terrible personality. This story has great potential for character development and personal growth. Unfortuantely, Alex's personality is distinguished by passivity, insecurity and self hatred, which is a great place to grow from, except character growth is way too slow, and when he finally starts to open up, he wrecks it with betrayal.
Which leads me to my next issue: Agency. The MC basically has none. He reacts either negatively or exceptionally passively to most things and is dragged towards his repeatedly stated goal by his superpower, which he hates. His proffessional development is driven by other characters, yet there is no reason for other - salhih462ucRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5I think Tomura Shigaraki's hero version is a good idea but I'm still dropping the story here. I thought maybe I would continue for Iraklis, but it didn't happen.Unfortunately, this is not the kind of hero story I was looking for.
The narration and dialogues are good, the descriptions need to be given a little more emphasis, what does the person I'm talking to look like, what does their face look like, their facial expressions, what is the environment like, etc., but I'm sure it will improve further in the future.
