Hero Quest: I Have the Power of a Villain, but I Want to Be a Hero

Description
In a world where nearly everyone is born with a guin, extraordinary power that grants unique abilities, only a select few are chosen to become a 'hero'. Through intense training and arduous challenges, these individuals are forged into protectors, standing as humanity's hope against all kind of evil.
Takumi Kurata was born with a cruel and terrifying guin. His power allowed him to instantly kill any living being by pulling its neck from its head, a lethal ability that made even the most fearsome villains pale in comparison. Yet, despite its terrifying nature, the power could be reversed, bringing the victim back to life if the body was properly reframed.
Bullied for his dangerous guin, Takumi initially fought back, rising to dominance and establishing a reign of terror that made even his middle school peers cower in fear. Deep down, however, he struggled with his power, believing that the very thing that could protect the weak made him unworthy of being a hero. His dream of becoming a hero crumbled as he succumbed to a life of bitterness and despair.
In a society where only some individuals can undergo the rigorous training to become a hero, Takumi’s path seemed lost. That is, until he met his idol, Mr. White—a hero who reminded him that power, in all its forms, can be wielded for both good and evil. Encouraged by Mr. White’s words, Takumi found new resolve, determined to use his terrifying guin for the greater good.
This is the story of Takumi Kurata, a kind-hearted yet twisted boy, torn between his dark gift and his desire to protect others, as he strives to become a true hero in a world that fears him.

- E-C-H-ORoyal Road★★★★ 3.5This is clearly a story written with a lot of love and admiration for traditional superhero/coming of age stories, with the interesting twist of a rather villainous MC. The story feels heavily inspired by shows like My Hero Academia, but not a direct copy or rip off. This author clearly enjoys writing their story, and it'll be interesting to see where things go from here.
- RealObservrRoyal Road★★★★ 3.5The story takes clear inspirations from My Hero Academia, which is clear from even its first chapter, though I personally don't mind it. And, its not like its just a rip off. Like I said, there are just inspirations from MHA.
And, the author has clearly put thought behind the book as the mc's power is very interesting, though, as we haven't had enough time to explore the world, I can't say much about the world at large for now.
The grammer, so far, has been pretty decent, and nothing has caught my eye yet. So, if bad grammer is a pet peeve of yours, you can read the story without much of a problem!
Though I find his transformation from basically a fledgling villain to a hero candidate a bit weird, though, taking his background and the fact that he was literally threatened with dead by the strongest character in the story we've seen so far, if he did any evil actions that is like killing someone, is a good enough justification for me to accept his personality shift.
And not like he ever had evil intentions behind his actions, just a stupid kid acting on emotions.
If you are interested in the superhero genre and/or like My Hero Academia and other superhero academy books, I'd recommend that you at least give the story a shot, as it seems like its going to be a good, or at least a decent, superhero academy story.
And if you haven't read a lot of superhero books, or haven't seen MHA or any similar works, I'd still recommend it as this may just be the book that brings you into the fold!
