Description

Yvette knows she's a girl, no matter how many people tell her she must be something else.     This isn’t a story for everyone. It’s a story that is at its core about the trans experience. About having the wrong name thrown in your face endlessly. About endless gaslighting and patronizing and eye rolling. About having just one person who understands, and how that makes all the difference.
    It’s also a very good fantasy on top of that. I’m enjoying this immensely, but it’s a very personal topic to me. I think if you read this and feel the emotional agony is overdone, or that it never ends - yeah. It’s very, very realistic in that respect.

    This story sets out to use the lens of fantasy to make palatable a realistic portrayal of "the struggles of being transgender and trying to be yourself."
    Importantly, the story includes quite a bit of the struggle around "trying to be yourself," which everyone can relate to, as well as more physical difficulties and dangers. This, along with great main characters and a compelling world with minimalist and effective worldbuilding, helped me to enjoy the story and come to empathize with Yevette (nee Tebaud) even though I had never paid attention to the transgender issue before.
    The story did exactly what it set out to do, and though I'm not continuing to read the later volumes, for me book one was complete and enough to better understand what some people are going through.

    I absolutely loved this story. I recently came out as transgender, and Yvette's journey resonated with me so deeply that I often took days to process chapters after I read them. I don't know that I've ever felt so seen by a work of fiction. It'll be on my mind for a long time after reading it, and I hope one day Yvette and Gervas finally can complete their journey together. But damn, what a journey it's been! Absolutely wonderful work :)

    This story is really well written, the author really is good at putting emotion into their writing. I've really liked everything I have seen. I haven't seen anyone goes and do this kind of story in fantasy. I realy like the two MCs and hope that Yvette can find her happy ending or true beginning depending on how you look at it.

    okay I'll rate this hear because this is the first part of the story with a big emotional payoff. I started reading because uploading for like a month with no reviews must sting. Although I'll probably stop reading hear because drama things aren't what I go for. For what it is it's very good grammer is top notch and characters are all pretty believable. The magic is fun, I like the sort of DnD stuff like transmutation but I didn't read that much of it.
    I don't know how accurate the transgender stuff is but I imagine it's correct. Beyond that it doesn't feel like a needless tack on like stuff can just to be inclusive, it's an important and integral part of the story which is always nice.
    The high points are the depth of emotion expressed, none of it feels cheap it's all relavent and empathising is easy the heroine would fit in other stories without being trans, it doesn't completly define her which is pretty good.
