Description

Three centuries of FTL space travel has spread the people of Terra far across the stars and for nearly half a millennia people have asked the question, "are we alone in the universe?" The answer to that question is a resounding no. To one side, humanity is boxed in by an ancient empire whose light has burned up long ago. To the other, is a federation of alien races known as the Senate. Mankind rejoiced the knowledge that they were not the only life in a cold dark galaxy. But as first contact was made, ET's who transited into the Warp seemed to disappear without a trace, technologies traded with the other races malfunctioned or refused to work entirely, and simple translation errors led to grave misunderstandings. Before long, humanity was outcasted by the Senate and relationships soured, but even still the sons and daughters of Terra worked hard to earn the respect and trust of the Xeno's.

Overall: If you're into Warhammer then I would suggest you read this. It is a lot less grimdark than 40k but still has some clear similarities. The first chapter follows our main character after a sudden declaration of war by the Terran government. If you are a fan of Exforces, Frontlines, or Blood on the Stars I suggest you pick this one up as well.
Style: The story is a SciFi book written from several different characters PoV but always in the 3d person. Writing style is concise with little in the way of flowery language. You can tell that the author is trying to set up multiple theaters of combat. A few easter eggs to their other story are also present.
Grammar: Grammar issues are present along with some rather odd punctuation but still get the point across.
Story: Humans good aliens bad, classic HFY with a twist. Humans are not the deathworlders in this story but they also aren't useless in a straight fight. There appear to be elements of magic or some other force in the story as one can tell by the heading.
Character: The main character is very average, he is a young man with a less than ideal background. He acts rather laid back throughout most of the first few chapters and little is revealed about the past.
